Oh for drats sake, all of you, Brits, Americans, everyone, just shut the hell up about this.
Can`t we just all accept the fact that It`s impossible to generalize an entire group of people based on a small cross section. I`m sure I could go to any nation in the world and get people to give me stupid answers to easy questions.
Videos like this prove one thing, that it is you, arguing that you`re people are superior, are nothing but a nationalistic idiot.

As for the biscuit/cookie debate, what you guys call biscuits, we call savoury scones, what WE call biscuits, you call cookies.

Although we call choc-chip cookies "cookies", not biscuits, strangely.

And to whoever asked about Digestive Biscuits. I believe in the US the closest thing is Graham Crackers, but we`d never call them crackers, as a cracker is thinner and more brittle/dry.

And despite technicalities, I`d still call white a colour, to whoever said it wasnt one.

I love all the English and other Europeans trying to explain why this video somehow proves nothing while the American ones do. How about NONE of them prove anything! Anyone who thinks that an EDITED video of people giving stupid answers represents an entire population is a dumbass themselves. I`ve never met any person (period) who didn`t know basic crap like this (except for rednecks, who represent a very small part of America, and lets face it, all countries have their own version of rednecks)

The whole world is stupid. Why we feel the need to put ourselves above the other, when it`s clearly false is beyond me.

I did like how a lot of people bitched about the type of people who were questioned, and the questions asked. Oh yeah, and the whole, "THEY AREN`T BRITISH!" Jebus. I`m gonna have to try that.

Those people from Alabama aren`t American! They don`t even sound like me! I smell a little role reversal with a touch of "the pot calling the kettle black".

This post amused me. Thanks for that.

KingDragon^^^ "...geez.. my spelling is appauling... sorry" I think you mean `appalling`. If you`re going to apologise for bad spelling, at least run a spell-check on the apology.

And you`re referring to the English flag (red cross on white field). The British flag (i.e. the country known as the UK) is the Union Jack.

"if they go and ask the elderly and the children, then of course the result can be like this. the Americans interviewed in the other video are mostly young adults/middle aged people."

Yes, I`m sure there isn`t a single middle aged or young adult European who is stupid. It`s just all the teens and the elderly.

Wow all these "European" people sure are singing a different tune now that it`s poking fun at them. You all are flip flopping more than John Kerry the last election cycle. As for my opinion, it remains the same. You can`t judge an entire society by a hand picked cross section.

I love how when the video was against americans, and we said- they have a HANDFUL of people that they edit that from, or we said- thats not the average person... or something along that lines... we were wrong and idiots.

However, these are the Europeans main arguements now.

Yes, our languages are semi different (w/ slangs)
Yes, we have different education systems and requirements.
And BOTH sides of the ocean have had some poor people making decisions at different times throughout the course of the different countries existance...

But that doesnt make people from anywhere stupid or idiots.
Some Americans Are naive... as are some europeans. Some cant tell a digit from a letter or a bisquit from a creme brule.... but that doesnt mean any one is stupid.

What makes people stupid, is the fact they will get on a website, and tell someone they cant use an arguement, and 5 days later use the same arguement when something is said against them....

Ooh, while everyone`s here and on this topic, I have a question that`s been in the back of my mind for quite some time now.

So, I would call myself an American. What do people from England call themselves?
"I`m an Englander?"
"I`m an Englishman?"
"I`m an English person?"

Or is there no equivalent? One simply says, "I`m from England." Or "I`m English."

Same with Irish people, Scottish people, and Welsh people.

Geez these things are irritating. Americans (depending on which stereotype you tend to think of as a general American) can be stupid or smart. If you did an interview in Arkansas or Alabama the result would be much different than on MIT`s campus or Harvard`s campus. I`m sure the same is true for any other country.

Oh wow, 10 random people couldn`t answer stupid trivia questions - that entire country must be full of idiots. -______-

It is very easy to start a street-interview and show how stupid someone is, and this is true in any country. Chris Morris is famous for doing this, albeit in a London (overpopulated piss) street:

I don`t know, this video proved nothing except that you get idiots all over the world (minus Canada, of course), not just America. Amazingly.

Uh, that doesn`t really prove that the British are as dumb as Americans. Those were considerably harder questions. Excluding the question about the flag color, it`s NOT basic knowledge to have the ability to name car manufacturers, school age entry, and stadium locations.

Also, I love how a good 50% of the questions were
asked to a 7 year old boy and a bunch of brain-dead 14 year old dropouts.

Nice try Britain, we`re still dumber.

European English, not all of it..but most, has been absolutely slaughtered by slang terms. I speak very much like I type. I have a number of English friends and I absolutely can not understand some of the slang they throw around. It`s not that I don`t understand what they are saying, it`s just that the slang terms make no actual sense when compared to what they meant. I`m sure todays teens are destroying US English now too from what I`ve seen lately.

Bird is a term refering to a woman usually a goodlooking one. Being called a cheeky monkey means you are being rude or insolent (but in a non-serious way) and geezer would be used to describe a man who is percieved as cool (quite hard to explain that one).

As for our spelling of colour all i gotta say is we came up with it first if Americans want to change how it is spelled thats their choice but laughing at is a bit stupid

American English and UK English not only have different slang, but different words that refer to the same thing. Also, it is pretty damn hard to understand some of the heavier regional British accents.

I`m not saying there is anything wrong with either- it is just hard for me to call them the exact same language.

"and that is not accurate since he asked less than 10 people"

AKappy, they have their own slang going on over there. They say things like "cheeky munky" "bird which means bitch I think" "geezers means gangster or thug" if I am correct, excuse my understanding of brit-culture. Maybe some people that comment can correct me.

"if he came to Stoke he`d probably get `butted by a beefy chav."

That`s why English and American should be considered two different languages.

Of course they know their stuff, they only showed the ones that either messed up or faked it (maybe) because it`s much more entertaining to see on television.

agree with that guy above
because a lot of people are actually visual thinkers

and that is not accurate since he asked less than 10 people

try asking people who are WORKING or have a job, he might get more intelligent answers

I don`t think it is some much that they are stupid, but more to do with that they just don`t think. Many people are amazed at what they really know when they actually stop and think about what they are being asked. :)
