Its still not that much money, and if you ask me the job is much worse. You run the risk of being beaten up etc...

Wow. Yeah. I don`t feel bad for not giving beggars any money. I work hard for my cash.

Thats so lame. We were stopped by people doing this at a stoplight asking for money...they ended up trying to invite us over to their HOUSE for a party.

Also, I have a friend in Vancouver, BC, who tried his hand at panhandling. All went well in the first hour. He had made $240.

However, has anyone ever noticed how the same panhandlers are often in the same places everyday? Here`s what the panhandler had told my friend.

"This is my assigned corner, you will have to talk to the union to get your own corner."

So, at least in North Vancouver, there is actually a union which controls the panhandlers.

I S**t you not.

About 2 years ago, it was a windy day, in Western Washington. There was a gal in her 30s, standing on the street corner, on a 5 gallon bucket, with a black garbage bag. I was at a stop light, next to her. The wind had picked up, and blew the plastic bag over, exposing 1 dollar bills. This bag wasn`t empty, or filled with trash, it was 1/2 filled with money! After seeing this, I vowed to NEVER give money to panhandlers. If they are insistant, I often tell them that I regularly donate to homeless shelters, and encourage others to follow suit.

Panhandling AND the act of giving money to panhandlers should be against the law. I am all for charity, but they wouldn`t be out there, if it wasn`t profitable.

On a sidenote, there is supposedly a Millionaire living in Seattle, who is dropped off in a limo, and panhandles all day, and is picked up at the end of the day. (It was on the news about 4 years ago.)

they had a guy near my old apartment who would chase you down to ask for money. every day he had a new shirt and pants on...never wore the same thing twice. one day he came up to me and a friend on his CELL PHONE and asked for cash. total waste of space.

We gave a fresh hamburger from Burger King to a homeless guy requesting money for food.

He accepted it reluctantly, sniffed at it... pondered selling it on Ebay too, I imagine.
I don`t trust any of them.

I saw two homeless people fighting over a winter coat in Manhattan. Easily the most awesome thing I`ve ever seen... EVER...

after about 5 years of being homeless, i can honestly say sob stories don`t work so well. potential "customers" want to be approached by a person who has a positive attitude, not a "poor me" attitude.

I would try that, if I didn`t have my dignity or conscience.

When my bro was into some heavy `ahem` drugs a long time ago, (now he`s all better, yay, lol) he told me that he would easily make up to $400 in a average day. Some better or worse than others but the point is, I do not give money to bums like that anymore. Those f*uckers are making a profit off us while we work our as*es off!! That is something I refuse to be suckered into anymore. Uh uh, no way, f*ck that. If they need food and stuff, go to a goddam*ed shelter, sober up, CLEAN up (peeeee-U) and get a f*cking job for Christs sakes! I know this sounds bad and I`m sorry but its just how I feel. Was this video a fake BTW? lol.

There`s a guy about a mile from my house with a sign saying "Why lie? I need a beer"
He pulls in enough to eat and maintain a prepaid cell `phone to talk to his daughter once a week.
But he really is homeless. There`s a self-storage place that lets him crash there... but he can`t get a job because he has no home address, and no real skills. He`s an old veteran, so there isn`t much he`s strong enough to do as far as manual labour... I really feel bad for him, you know?

If I ever gave a begger money at a stop light and then saw him/her get in a car nicer than mine and drive away, I would FLIP OUT!!! Begging when you are fully capable of working for a living is WRONG! We all hate work, fact of life, but we have to do it. Giving food is a great idea.

I seriously doubt the beggars in my area don`t get that much money. First of all, nearly every week they`re cleared off the street and have to go cower under the bridges. Secondly, they`re usually happier to get food, especially home made, rather than money.

Don`t give money to beggars.
Show me a report on how giving to beggars allows them to become productive - only that would convince me to spend something. Until then i refuse encouraging them to beg.

lmao I love this stuff. Panhandling actually really is that easy, but the shame is hard to overcome. we were supposed to do it as part of a volunteer bit at a homeless shelter, but sadly my shame stopped me. Also that Oregon couple thing is true. They were all over the local news.
