This is stupid, do you know how many rooms a day does a housekeeper have to do, how much time per room does she have to take.. and how heavy of a workload it is... so all these wussys shut the drat up and bring your own glasses to travel with you

Sure, everyone is freaking out about glasses in a hotel. I haven`t stayed in a hotel in almost six months. I use the same nasty keyboard at work every day though. We`re surrounded by microscopic pathogens, and I`ll bet the maintenance people at the hotel haven`t quite gotten their General Equivalency PHD`s in microbiology. The moral of the story? Humans are filthy creatures.

Holiday Inn has been using prewrapped disposable cups since at least the 80s.

It`s probably quat, the same stuff they use to clean the dishes. Can`t drink dish liquid either. Kinda gross about the gloves, but if they`re constantly soaked in cleaning liquid they`re cleaner than anything else in the room.

Kyur, for extra psychological trauma, why not try putting the tourniquet on, then leaving it until the arm tissue dies from lack of blood? Think how helpless your victim would feel, knowing their arm is about to die and eventually rot away and there`s nothing they can do. People will forever fear you.

"ps. if you cut off someones arms and legs in what im presuming to be a drawn out way, they would bleed to death quite quickly. especially when you got to the wrists. (:"

Tourniquets. It stops the flow of blood. The only thing I can think of that would kill them is the shock.

was it me, or did that have NOTHING to do with the post..?"

Yeah, I do love fire but no. I am misanthropic, there`s a difference. I hate humans and everything about them. Yes I know I am one also but I cant really do anything about that now can I?

PS: I was in a bitchy mood because I spent the previous 30 hours doing pre-calc.

eh i worked at a hotel for like 3 months.. I always put my glasses through the dishwasher (some of the ladies washed them in the sink). the coffee pots were gross we pretty much just rinsed them with hot water and wiped them with a rag.. microwaves just got cleaned with glass cleaner, fridges usually didnt even get wiped unless there was a spill. when we did our yearly "deep cleans" everything went into the bathtub (garbage cans, light shades, microwave dish, trays, soap dishes, fridge shelves) and got washed in hot water and the stuff we used to clean toilets. some ladies went from room to room using the same rag.
uhh a lot of times we got up to 18 checkouts to do in 8 hours (one checkout took about 1/2 hour) so sometimes we had to do a shabby job.
as for the blacklights, they`re actually not that bad.. most of what showed up in any of my rooms was dust.

I didn`t watch the video, but let me guess...they rinse out the glasses and dry them off, then put the little paper doilies under them and call them clean?
I know because I did that job for years when I was a teenager. nice places too that cost hundreds of dollars a night. I`ve seen things way worse than this too. Trust me you don`t want to know.

thats kinda gross. then again, id never want to see ANY hotel room under a black light.

My mom used to clean hotel rooms (Days Inn) and she said some people did gross things there (and where she worked they did put all the dishes in the dishwasher)
yeah she said some one pissed in an ice box one time, and one other time some Hacitic (no idea how to spell that) Jew people poo on the floor in the bathroom claiming that the toilet was unusable since other peoples bodies have been on it
Needless to say she quit after one summer to working there.

For the record. My family owns a bed and breakfast, and has for a few generations, so I know a bit about how hotels are run. Every single glass we keep in our rooms goes through a dishwasher, and are inspected by yours-truly (hey, you`ve got to start somewhere) before they ever get into the hands of a guest. And I`m not talking your grandma`s pooty washer either. I`m talking a commercial style, burns-your-eyes type of washer. Our sheets are washed thoroughly, and you certainly won`t catch any STDs in my father`s house of business.

HOWEVER. That`s a family run B&B. Something far removed from the huge `seen one room seen them all` style places in this video. They can survive a lawsuit. They can survive a dozen lawsuits. We would probably shut down if someone sued us with a good lawyer. Moral of the story? The smaller the inn, the safer you are.

Of course people! You think anyone`s going to come to your room, take your dirty dishes out, wash them, then take those dishes back?
No. Hotels are cheap, that`s why they had to hire immigrants. And you people complain they take your jobs, if you had that job, you wouldn`t give a damn by how much they`d pay you.

And what kind of idiot pours soda from a bottle to some glass in a hotel???

Kyur, be careful! Who knows who patrols these boards and never posts!? 9 times out of 10 an evil genius` plan goes to pot because he spills it to the protagonist before he kills them! :0

I never really saw any use for the cups anyway, I don`t use them myself.

Then again, these news stories are always "SHOCKING" "OUTRAGEOUS" and "SCARY". There might be things left out or things taken out of context.

As much as I`d hate to admit it, they did make me cringe with that toilet flush.

People, you can`t actually CATCH AIDS. You can catch HIV, and that can develop into AIDS, but you cannot just pick up AIDS. It is impossible.

So stop going on about bedsheets covered in AIDS. When they aren`t anyway, unless the hotel is some crappy little poohole.

And who ever flames me, I will hunt you down and kill you in the most inhumane way possible. I already have it planned out. First goes your tongue, then your eyes, then starting from your finger tips cutting off a part of your arms and legs at every joint up to the elbow or knee cap. Then I make sure you live so you can hear the children scream and cry when they see you.
Yes, I am a sick son of a bitch, so what? Go ahead and flame this post all you want though. I`m use to being flamed over my thoughts but flaming facts is just stupid.

AIDS doesn`t survive long outside the body. That`s why you can`t get it from mosquitos if they drink blood from an infected person. But yeah, disposable cups sound much more appealing :)

That is just wrong on so many levels!

JHSpring26 - I am guilty of stealing... I like to take the bath mats. I can`t seem to find them anywhere but in hotel rooms, and I do love them! I know it`s wrong, but now I don`t feel so bad - I am compensating for the dirty & unsanitary glasses!

Kyur, LOL, you`re funny and I agree with you. Actually, I`m surprised people actually use those hotel glasses without washing them thoroughly with hot water and soap first. I don`t use them. I always pack my own plastic cups and papaer plates. As for the sheets, I used to pack my own and put them on the bed, but after a long day of traveling and sight-seeing. I sometimes just collapse in the alleged disease-ridden bed. Well, that`s what steaming hot showers are supposed to remedy. You can take precautions but no hotel can guarantee a disease free environment. Take your vitamins people!
Kyur, children already scream and cry when they see me. I like it that way.

"What a load of nonsense. Seriously, what a non-story. So they`re washed with water and then wiped clean. You can see if a glass is clean or not, and thats obviously doing the job. And so what if the blue liquid had `do not drink` on it. So does most cleaning products, including washing up liquid, and dishwasher detergent."

So you can see microscopic bacteria? Wow tell me how to!

Also the ones sprayed with the blue liquid are clean is she rinsed them. Usually that stuff is something like bleach soap water and a few other sanitizers, not necessarily those things but that`s the jist of it.

Also you do realized it takes a temperature of either above 140 or below 40 degrees farenheit for about 5 mins to kill bacteria, or soap and hot water for like 20 seconds. So if you just clean the glass with cold water it will just get rid of the residue and not kill anything.

What? I am a cook when I am not programming. It`s my two passions.

It`s things like this that just make me rub my head and give a deep sigh. I`ll say straight away, that I`ve worked in the hotel industry for a little over 3 years. My hotel does not use actual glasses, not only from a cost point, but also a hygenic point. We`d be doing dishes round the clock. My hotel is only 50 rooms, however you factor in 4 drinking glasses per room, you`re looking at 200 glasses, on top of the 4 coffee cups per room (we use styrofoam, granted not good for the planet, but still) that`s 400 dishes we`d have to wash properly on our busiest weekends. Not counting the additional we`d have to keep in stock for theifs (it would surprise you the things people will steal from a hotel room, we`ve had chairs come up missing.) Some of the comments on here make me feel slightly offended and as if I`m not doing my job properly. "How they clean toilet seats is worse. They use dirty bedsheets with AIDS and herpes." That`s the absolute worst for me.

Doesn`t common sense dictate not to trust the hygiene standards of underpaid and overrushed hotel workers to the point that you re-wash your glass before using it unless it is both wrapped and disposable? I think this video managed to make just about everyone look bad.

I`m not even going to get started on hygiene here. Everyone knows hotels are semen landfills. I`d try to sleep standing up if I could.
I also hate the fact that they charge you for a the bottled water they have neatly placed upon the table just ready to be guzzled down.
