But if some people (like George W Bush) had their way, the FBI WOULD be allowed to come in and shoot you for downloading movies and music.

Maybe you should READ my post before you start talking about it. When did I say that I was defending piracy in any way? I`m simply stating that the commercials do not portray piracy in a proper way. If it was shown realistically, it would be something like "You wouldn`t make an exact copy of someone`s car with their permission and then take the copy, making the people who made the car lose out would you?" The reason they don`t is because that would make for crappy advertising as many people WOULD do that if it was possible...

Its faulty because downloading a video off of the net is with the uploaders permission, and only the company who created the DVD is losing money. If that sort of thing was possible with physical property (i.e cars, cellphones etc.) then it would be MUCH more common than it is now.

I hate it when idiot children think that using the analogy of pirating Intellectual Property to stealing physical property is a faulty "si hoc, ergo procter hoc" argument and can disprove it by stating the analogy in reverse.

All you do is show that you have no understanding of how modern copyright law works and a complete disregard for taking steps to change it for the better.

You just want everything for free, that`s all you care about.

I hate it when these retards equate stealing a car to downloading a movie. Its not the same! It would be the same, if instead of stealing the car from a person, you made an exact copy of that car, then took the copy. All of this with the person`s permission. Who WOULDN`T do that?

If I could go to a parking lot and burn a copy of a car, I would definitely steal cars, then.

You guys comparing a baby to a DVD don`t need to - the baby isn`t part of the original. But it`s still stupid. Downloading a movie doesn`t take it away from the original owner.

Yes, yes, we all know stealing is bad, but that isn`t going to stop people.

Stealing is bad, you will get caught and die.

what they should do if they really want to get people to stop buying pirate dvds is make adverts that have `piracy is GAY!` written across the screen in huge letters

that would stop quite a few people i reckon...though owning or not owning pirtate cds and dvds might become a new means of expressing your sexuality...but then how could you tell if someone was bisexual? they`d have to own but in reality not really own illegal copies of things

did i just create a paradox? :)

ive heard they are trying to start taxing any one with a "home theatre" (aka. tv greater than 30 inches with stereo speakers) because it could be used to publicly show dvds that only you have the right to.

you cant compare a movie dl to stealing a baby, you can get way more for a baby then a dvd you sell out of your trunk in front of wall mart. selling one baby would pay for your hole movie pirating dvd selling operation.

Maybe I would steal a baby. If I ever killed a policeman, I might poop in the helmet and send it to his wife.

Internet "Piracy" isn`t stealing, it`s sharing! ;]

The ad was... odd though. Sucky even.

Scotchy, the theory is that you`re stealing because you`d normally have to buy a copy of your own to enjoy it, rather than watch somebody else`s. Thousands of people can see a movie with only one person initially paying for it, when thousands (ideally) should be paying.

Get it?

To be honest, I dont know how your stealing it. I mean, someone went out and bought a copy of the DVD most likely, then, they took THEIR copy of it, which they OWN, and put it on the internet for everyone else to enjoy for FREE so they didnt sell it and make money off of it, and you didnt go out and take it for yourself, you were given permission by the person who BOUGHT the copy of the DVD in the first place. I dont see whats wrong with that then.

The non-UK people off IAB won`t really get the full story behind this.
It`s a rip on the actual UK cinema adds for this.
It has everything the same up to "You wouldn`t steal a baby" (which is fake), then everything is fake. and later on all the SWAT bust into her room halfway through the download. Theres also an altwernate ending where she hits cancel.

It`s here v
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdjzWRcO3...

I assume its UK only because nobody else seems to have got the referance so far, outside of europe.
