I really don`t mind if it was done by a toddler; I generally like this kind of art. I`m not saying I would ever -buy- abstract art though.

Some abstract is good. But the kind with like a red circle in the middle of a canvas is crap. Once again proving crap can be "art"

I think that the parents are a little stupid to have given the kid paints.....I bet more of it went in his mouth than on the canvas. Maybe when he`s a little older, of course, but the statement "he could hold a paintbrush when he was eight months old" annoyed me.

""The striking use of oriental calligraphy has the kanji-like characters stampeding from the page, showing the new ascent of the East. It is one of Linsky`s most experimental works."

Proof that these drating people are so full of poo. Thank god someone is finally pointing out the obvious: "IT LOOKS LIKE A CHILD PAINTED THIS. AND, WAIT, THIS TIME IT WAS!"

Abstract art is so pointless. I will never be able to understand why people pay money for that poo. It`s a doodle.

ive been saying for years that all the abstract modern art that some poeple claim to understand the meaning of is all bs. only the person who painted/sculpted something abstract knows its meaning if it has one. all the pretentious people who act like they see something in paint randomly thrown on canvas are pretending so they can look cool and intelligent. if someone with real painting skill really had a message or idea to get across in paint form they would make it something that clearly communicated it or make you think of the main thought, idea, opinion or whatever was.

*yeah I guess the term is "modern"

whatever. everything`s too technical these days

Abstract, to me, would be more along the lines of Picasso. This would be along the lines of `modern`....Or `the art for the rich, snobby people who can`t criticize actual art`.
I admit the Elephant one was rather interesting, as much as an ink blot is interesting in the way that makes you tilt your head and say `Nope, still looks like a butterfly to me!`. I`d probably hang it somewhere and enjoy it if it were a present, but not go out of my way to buy...
It is silly for people to be so high-priced over paintings like these...Stupid on the critics` parts, smart on that mother`s part. Making money off of other`s stupidity! Genius!

this proves the art-fanatics are full of ****. They`re so full of it that they dont know what real art is that even stupid ass finger paintings from 2 year olds can be worth millions to a dumbass with a fat paycheck. the kids paintings are ****ing scribbles and people are like "omg thats beautiful! I will pay hundreds!".

That`s it. I`m going to lowes and buying some paint. Maybe I can make some money off scribbles.

Gigaman has the right idea.

it`s ABSTRACT! The painting is whatever you WANT it to be!

That`s how photographers get away with calling their work art and not science! Anyone can point and click... but an artist will shoot something that can relate to anyone!

It doesn`t matter if the work was done by a two year old or a sixty year old. If you like it, if it speaks to you, if you can find meaning (intended or incidental) it is ART.

True art is not made for the artist... art is made for the appreciator.

Love that most people are saying ABSTRACT art is a load of BS. It`s not ABSTRACT, it`s MODERN. Abstract, to me, is the stuff Salvador Dali`s paintings are. Modern is that messy blob on the canvas. Regardless, I think it looks kinda cool ^_^

bahahahah. i love paintings like that, they`re so wild and you don`t have to have skillz to make them (:

Modern art is a bunch of BS. Being an artist myself, I`m disgusted that people are crooning over stuff like this. It`s a child being a child. Every kid makes a mess with paints and calls it art. Fine for the mom to lie and say it`s gorgeous, but selling it as if it is actually something? That`s flat out stupid.

It is NOT the art WORLD that was fooled, you fools!!!!! There are MANY forms of art AND art critics. Just because modern abstract world was fooled doesn`t make artists idiots, which is what this story implies. Pisses me off.

I would pay over $100 for the first painting, "The Best Loved Elephant" without hesitation. Forget the source for a moment and scrutinize it as you would any other painting. A contemporary artist could only dream of such inspirational use of color and multiple mediums. I was truly struck by the depth of this piece. The fact that A child painted it adds to the beauty and awe-factor. It also makes for a wonderful conversation piece. In fact, I have a piece in my foyer which was done by an eight year-old using chalk, crayon and paint. It gets a lot of comments.

Jesus, I never realised that I-Am-Bored was full of so many people who appear to not be able to read. The kids mother says she thinks it isn`t art, and made up the over-exaggerated captions to see if they would dupe anyone. For christ`s sake it`s all a joke!

I hate modern art. You don`t need talent.

However, I do like this boy`s pictures...I think kid`s "artwork" is adorable...especially when they talk to you about it...cause they babble on about everything in it when you`re just thinking "It`s just one random blob of color..."

And that my friends is why I dislike modern art. Because everything looks like it was done by two year olds. D:

"The striking use of oriental calligraphy has the kanji-like characters stampeding from the page, showing the new ascent of the East. It is one of Linsky`s most experimental works.""

Typical art critique RIGHT there. <_<
