WoOt, this will start a bunch of religious debates.

OMG people who believe that their religion and their religions alone is right are annoying and retarded.

I`ve said my peace.

All, that kid won`t get presents for Christmas.

Believe in Christ, or you get no Christmas present....either that or we`re giving all of YOUR presents to poor children in Afghanistan in your name. So they can play with all of the things that YOU don`t get.

"Ok Mom, either you`re going to give me my presents, or I`m sacrificing Jenny to Satan and using the dinner table as the altar.....you`re choice."

By choosing to believe something else? Since when did one`s PERSONAL belief become a family activity? I thought the mind and thought processes of one person was their own and only their own.

Lol Mom needs to back off some. Not everyone will think like you do. The unfortunate thing about religious people. You must believe! Of course.. the will of Christianity is to spread it.. but they are catholic. Of course non-religious folks are guilty too.. as much as I`d like to say otherwise.. but just not as much.
I love it though "You`re an athiest... give me a F*cking break!" How religiously proper of you Mrs. :D

Go for it Michael. If thats what you believe in. Thats what you believe. If you were religious? Whatever floats your boat.

I think it`s more than a little hypocritical to say you don`t believe in the Christian faith, but then expect to take part in it`s religious holidays. A friend of mine is an atheist, and while I respect his views, I point out to him that he seems to only be one when it suits him. If he really wanted to stand by his beliefs, he`d have no interest in Christmas or Easter.

It`s kinda funny that the people who would take offense to being considered Christian are likely the first people to complain if the holiday is taken away from them.

I`m Pagan, but I still participate in the "rituals" of christmas, such as gift giving and whatnot. Before Christmas, there was Yule, around the same time of the year. Decorating a tree originated as a pagan practice. So did decorating Eggs around Easter. When the christians converted pagans a long time ago, they held on to some of their pagan practices and incorporated them into the christian holidays....

So, yeah... there ya go.

Cashcleaner, Christmas has evolved past the religious concept starting from the invention of Santa Claus (sorry kiddies who still believe in him). Me being an atheist, I don`t view Christmas as something religious at all, doesn`t mean i can`t give gifts and stuff and be in "Christmas spirit". The feeling of goodwill and generosity on Christmas is something every human being can feel, regardless of what religion they believe.

Anyways, that parental unit reminds me of why religion can be scary, and frankly, more reason for me to be atheist, just to piss off people like that, especially when they try to tell me I`m wrong, but can`t prove it. (By no means am I saying that religion is wrong, but if you can`t prove atheism wrong, it can be right.)

Acidbath, when you say pagan, what religion are you refering to? Because paganism applies to ANY belief that`s not Judeo/Christian/Muslim. Do you mean Shinto? Or perhaps Zororastrianism?

The Christmas holiday we celebrate today is actually based on a roman feast called Saturnalia. It was a holiday dedicated to the harvest god, Saturn that included gambling, team games, and gift exchanges. The Christmas tree also has it`s origins in the feast of Saturnalia and was decorated with offerings to the god.

The Roman Emperor Aurelian is believed to be responsible for the present date of the Christmas holiday, it once being a festival for adherrents of the Sol Invictus sect.

When Western Europe was in the process of conversion to Christianity, the early missionaries mixed the new Christian holidays with the old faiths to help the converted better understand the significance of such. Like you said, Easter is a mix of both Northern European, Roman, and Christian customs.

Cashcleaner:

I don`t dispute the Roman holiday, but ancient Celtic Pagans also had Yule. That`s all I was saying... My beliefs are mainly rooted in Celtic paganism and reverence for nature.

The way you use the word Pagan comes off as derogatory; as a negative term. And your sarcasm isn`t appreciated.

I wasn`t planning on going "in-depth" on any ancient customs; all I wanted to do was state that Christmas had pagan roots... that`s all.

Pfft. Christmas did not "evolve" from pagan festivals. It celebrates the birth of Christ. It was PLACED to coincide with the pagan festivals.

Like yesterday we celebrated a colleagues birthday a couple of days early because she wasn`t going to be in the office on her birthday. That doesn`t mean we`re suddenly celebrating "Sarah going to France" day.

But I guess that doesn`t make a point as much as pretending Christmas is pagan...

P.S. I don`t celebrate Christmas, and I`m not a Christian.

Plus, if he wanted to piss off his mom more, he should have calmly said ok as if her screaming didn`t affect him. Some kids just don`t know how to push their parent`s buttons. It`s sad really :P

Christmas isn`t really about Christ anymore anyways.
It`s about giving your families gifts and stuffing your face full of food now.
Samhain, or Halloween, also heavily relies on the pagan beliefs and rituals.

Im just surprised how she completly discredited herself at the end with the Christmas thing. To say your not getting anything for x mas because its about Jesus Christ. Giving presents (in the modern day sense) is not what celebrating Jesus Christ is about. Unless you want to give me some frankensence. She just believes in a heaven and hell, and wants to keep her son from going to her notion of hell (which i think is the deep root of her anger)

Slight correction CashCleaner: Paganism refers to any polytheistic religion. I believe the term you`re thinking of is heathen, which is belief in any god other than the Judeo/Christian God. A Muslim or Sikh, which are both monotheistic, would be considered heathen but not pagan. All pagans would be considered heathen but not all heathen would be considered pagan.

As a christian, I worship the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob as do the Jews. I would consider a muslim to be heathen because they worship the god of Muhammad who is, in fact, the devil. The bible says, "Those who worship other gods worship demons and devils."

Wow... it`s no wonder that kids are being scared away from Christ. Sheesh, if my mom was like that, I`m not so sure I was act any differently. That`s why it`s important to not just call yourself a Christian/Catholic, or whatever you call yourself, but to life your life so that people can tell. It`s one thing to say, "I`m a Christian", anyone can do that. It`s something else if people can tell by your actions. I think if she`s that worried about her son, she needs to figure out where she went wrong with herself.

Another thing... Dad needs to grow a pair! Dad should be in charge of that house, and not mom. At the very least, he needs to be supporting mommy dearest!

Lastly, Christmas is about the birth of Christ. If you are celebrating some other event, call it as such. CHRISTmas celebrates Christ.

Please realize that not all Catholics are like this :)
And I agree that she totally flew off the handle and took it extremely badly, and all the more power to the son for standing up for what he believes in.

However, to see the mother`s point of view:
She very obviously believes that being Catholic will save you from an eternity in Hell, and through her eyes, he just accepted an eternity in Hell.
I think it would be anyone`s response to at least say something. She was just caught up in her fear for her son`s soul and let her emotions take reign.

Luckily my mom was much more cool about me being an Atheist. Though I guess it did help that my mom`s not an intensely devout Christian, my dad`s Agnostic, and I gradually became Atheist, as opposed to just one day saying "Oh, and by the way mom, I`m Atheist."

This video is old, though. Like over a year old.

It`s my belief that the idea of religion was to unify and show people through morals and being kind to one another that we could live peacefully, even if we didn`t share the same views. Unfortunately somewhere along the lines of history the idea became clouded, and everyone is now concerned with saving their own butt.

Bld: "As a christian, I worship the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob as do the Jews. I would consider a muslim to be heathen because they worship the god of Muhammad who is, in fact, the devil."

Wrong in every possible way, there is no rationalization of that claim.
Jews specifically deny Christ. Yet you qualify them as worshiping the same God.
Muslims worship the god of Abraham/Jacob/Etc AND Christ, yet you qualify them as worshiping a different God.

The only additional qualifier you can put in is whether or not their version of events is correct, which which from a Christian perspective can either exclude both Jews and Muslims, or neither.

It`s just another example of "It doesn`t matter which God they say they`re worshiping, all that matters is what God *I* say they`re worshiping". Believe it or not, you`re not qualified to make that assertion.

My family isn`t religious and I don`t really believe in God but we still celebrate Christmas. I know it was all about the birth of Jesus and stuff but I just see it as a nice holiday for everyone to have fun rather than anything religious. I just asked my mum if we would still celebrate Christmas if we weren`t religious (she was brought up Catholic but isn`t sure about God) and she said she doesn`t know. I think we probably would.

yup... if I lived in that house, I`d be an atheist TOO! haha... Or at least a CHRISTIAN and not a catholic. You know statistically, that Catholics hold the highest "atheist" turn over?

They don`t understand what they believe. They go to church and "read" the bible, say a bunch of stuff in latin, and believe a lot of "religious superstition" but, they don`t actually study things like science, and history, and actually preach on things that are MEANINGFUL to someones life. This video is a great example. (What mom believes in God and starts yelling the F word at her son?) Catholics also do NOT encourage a relationship with Jesus Christ OR with God. A lot of it is just superstition. "Holy water" "Crucfixes" "praying to saints" "talents" "hail marys" "being celbate all your life to preach" (not even biblical) none of which get you to heaven. Also, she`s threatening no presnets? Presents have NOTHIN

In my experience, people like the Mum react so excessively because they are not completely confident in their beliefs. To have someone you love question your belief structure in such a way and rejecting it is then like a direct attack on them. If you are totally confident in what you believe in, then nothing anyone else says will shake that. I think that is what makes the difference between disappointments of unshared beliefs, and flying off the handle.

As far as Christmas goes, my whole family are atheists. To us, Christmas - or Xmas, or Yule, etc - is really just about eating lots of nice food, coming together with family and sharing gifts.

Most, if not all, religions have a similar festive holiday. Most have decorations, gifts and feasts (ie "fe(a)stivities"). That isn`t limited to deity-worshiping groups, either.

But then, with Xmas so commercialised these days, how can anyone say it is just a religious period any more. Almost everyone celebrates it, not ju

Baathazag,

JEWS existed before Christ, they wanted a savior (actually they asked for a king) But, they all believed in the same "GOD" "GOD THE FATHER" Jews denied that Jesus was the son of God (as it was biblically prophesied that they would) But, they still believe in the same "GOD" the father. We (Christians and jews) agree on who God the Father is. And many Jews ARE actually "masionic" which means that they believe that Jesus was indeed the messiah. As far as muslims go, they believed in the same God as well, UP until a certain point. Which is why they can make the claim that they believe in Abraham and Isaac, YES, because that`s where it stopped. Ishmael was the start of the muslim religion, because Abraham did NOT obey God. (Isaac was the promise, Ishmael was not) And Ishmael was sent out into the wilderness where he became his OWN people. MUSLIMS believe that "THEY" are the promis, because they come from Ishmael. And that`s whe

She probably overreacted, but I also think that you people are overreacting to her reaction. I think she just responded that way cause she cares about him. I think everyone wants to raise their children in the way they believe is best. So she got a little upset when he basically said I don`t agree with the way you`ve raised me. She`ll probably calm down and eventually accept it.

And Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ. Hence the name CHRISTmas. It really is that simple. Since when can non-followers of a religion hi-jack that religion`s holiday and say it actually celebrates something completely different? That makes no sense at all, it`s madness!!!

Ah I see the difference now, your "GOD" has "QUOTES" and "CAPS". You did not offer any justification, you just restated your original point.

Let me be clear here.
Jews believe in the same historical God, but with different final attributes. Muslims believe in the same historical God, but with different final attributes.

1) Muslims believe the teaching of Islam started with Adam, and carried on through Moses/Jesus/Abraham/Noah/Etc. Are you thinking of another God who built the Arc, created Adam, helped Moses free the Israelites?

2) Ishmael is considered the first Arab, not the first Muslim. Religiously, Adam was the first Muslim. Historically, Mohammed was.

You`re talking here about a specific subject. Lets take another example to simplify it. Say we both know Bob Thornton. Neither of us have seen Bob since highschool.

We both know he went to our school, we both know he was in our English class, we both know he went out with a girl called Tracy, we both know he wanted to be a Lawyer.

I say "I think he`s in Washington now" and you say "No way, I heard he moved to India".

We`re not suddenly talking about two different Bobs. It`s the same Bob. It`s just one of us (or both of us) is wrong about what Bob (or to take the earlier example, God) finally ended up doing.

"Faith is believing without evidence. So you`re deluded. The OPPOSITE of expanding your mind."

Have you ever seen one billion dollars stacked up at once? No, so you don`t have any evidence it exists, but you still believe someone has one billion dollars, right?

I don`t need science to prove something to me, and more importantly I don`t need you to agree with what I know to be true. I know God exists, can I prove it to you? Nope. By the same token, can you prove God doesn`t exist? Nope.

I believe. That is all that is important to me, agree with me or disagree with me, that is your choice which by the way is God`s greatest gift to you, the right to choose what you believe and the right to choose how you show that belief.

There is only one God, and he is greater than any one religion.

Actually faith isn`t believing without evidence anyway. It`s believing without proof according to Oxford English. Believing without evidence is "Blind" faith.

The two are entirely different. For one, science itself *is* (and read the above sentence a few times if you still feel like arguing) based on faith for a great deal. Any inductive leap is essentially a leap of faith.

Science is based on `faith` the same way that we have faith in the sunrise. I think that would better explain the `faith` in science.

But, if the sun were not to rise, we`d compile a new model to explain the lack of the sunrise. The religious would continue down the path, and merely deny the sun didn`t rise that day. :P

Anyways, when I told my mom I didn`t believe in God, she told me that he does in fact exist, so I respect her right to believe, because honestly, when she dies, she goes to heaven, when I die, I go to nowhere...which is far scarier than hell. So good for her.

Science, deary, currently tells you that the rules of the universe behave differently whether you`re watching them or not.

Science, deary, has come up with the theory of a multiverse which is based basically on the fact that this universe is astronomically unlikely unless a) It`s been guided, or b) there are several of them.

Science, deary, tells you that certain things have a rotational symmetry of 1/2.

Alas. There`s a bit more faith involved in science than sunrises. Jeez, some people get so wound up and offended about the things they believe in huh. ;)

The rules of the universe? There are no rules to this universe. Do you genuinely believe that mathematics & physics are the be-all end-all languages to explain the laws of this universe? I doubt it. I`d say we`re in our infancy, so we do need a lot of explanations for what is going on. Religion is one of the worst explanations, and science is currently the best one, but we are still very in the dark about many things.

This hasn`t been on here before?
Oh, well I had already seen this a while ago but I don`t hold any real strong opinions.
Religeon is important to many families, and parents get upset with their kids all the time. This is actually very tame considering that my mom reacts this way when I have done something far less extreme than changing religeon.
The mother is understandably upset and is well within her boundaries. This even helps the kid in seeing how serious he is with being an athiest, and that he is willing to commit to it. If he really commits himself to athiesm, then I`m sure that the parents will come around eventually and respect him for his own beliefs.

Is he serious about being an athiest? We`ll see when Christmas, Easter, and other christian holidays pass. :-P

Look at it this way.

Religion has all the answers, and is wrong some of the time.
Science has a couple of answers, and is right most of the time.

Religion has the advantage of being a complete system, whereas science has the advantage of being a more restrictive system.

(For all you comp programmers out there, Science == BFS, Religion == DFS. Unfortunately, as with all Depth First Searches, Religion has more tendency to get caught in an infinite loop. ;))

i wanted to see what was gonna happen next. i have a feeling she ended up hitting him. Thats seriously a horrible, pitiful, excuse of a parent. Trying to force some one against their will to believe what you believe. I mean will it kill her if he doesn`t believe in God? No, it`s not like hes inflicting upon her believes he`s simply following his own. And i am a christian by the way and i think that is total bullspit right there.

lot of comments on this video. only read the first page.

any other agnostics on here? people always ask me what it is win i say im agnostic and then say "you mean atheist" win i explain it. i hate being grouped with atheists. they are as bad as the religious nuts. why is everything absolute on both sides? ther is no way in science or religion to prove or disprove the existance of any god like being.

why do you need the promise of heaven and the threat of damnation to be a good person? on that note why would the christian god who is forgiving and what not say "live this way and be this kind of person or go to hell" that doesnt sound like a caring forgiving god to me. win i say hell im not talking about the image you get from cartoons and poo of an eternally burning place of torture and punishment. im talking about the least corrupted version i know of that describes it as a place without gods love.

The sad thing is, if an atheist parent hears that their child believes in God, chances are they really don`t mind- after all, it isn`t going to hurt them at all. But with the opposite, the parent believes that their child is going to go to Hell for eternity, and so they take it upon themselves to convert the kid or kill him trying. `Tis sad really.

Here`s a way to end every single fight that will be here and is already here:

People have opinions in what they believe, get used to it, welcome to the real world.

Nothing you can say will ever change someone who`s arguing back with you about their beliefs, so stop.

2) Ishmael is considered the first Arab, not the first Muslim. Religiously, Adam was the first Muslim. Historically, Mohammed was.

I did not SAY that Ishmael was the first muslim, I said that if you track back, it can be tracked to Ishmael. He was the start of the faith.

As for whatever else you just said. I have no idea what you`re talking about. The point is that the religion of muslims have twisted the idea of God, it is not the same God. And to say it is, would be to say that God has multiple personalities, and hence, has no ability to be just and true, or kind and merciful.

Davymid, satan HIMSELF knows/believes that Christ is the son of God. Just because someone knows it/claims it, doesn`t mean that they`re saved.

And no, catholics are NOT christians, they`re DEFINITELY going a different way, especially in the last hundred years or so. (Most of the catholics I speak with now, lean more on New Age)

LKJSlain, I don`t think you know what science actually is. NOTHING can be scientifically proven. EVER. Not evolution, not gravity, not even a round Earth. But there is no way to EVER find ANY scientific evidence for God because God doesn`t exist.

And I don`t care what people believe, I honestly don`t. I just don`t like people who try to say that Science can back up religious claims. Because it can`t. End of story.

What this woman is talking about isn`t so much religious belief as about her bing in control. She wants to control him by brandishing the threat of eternal damnation. She wants to control him by the threat of no Christmas presents. When he says "ok" to not getting presents, she says it`s not ok. If he accepted that he won`t get presents, she would lose a control handle. If he accepts that God doesn`t exist, then she has nothing to threaten him with short of physical violence which she could be arrested for. She doesn`t want to be arrested, she just wants to be in control. Since religion isn`t governed by law in this country, it makes a good weapon.

If I celebrate Christmas n the modern sense with a decorated tree, gift giving, and other various family traditions, WITHOUT the religious aspect, why do I have to be religious? I can see the hypocrisy in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ when you may not believe he is the Christ, but I`m not celebrating that. My Christmas is about spending time with ym family, giving gifts to each other, and small little traditions that have been passed down and adopted. The way I decide to celebrate my own holidays have nothing to do with you or your religion.

I am an atheist, but I don`t walk around cracking priests over the head just because I don`t believe in their religion. The mom was trying to save her son from Hellfire and the like. While using the equivalent number of F-bombs, as normal ones that were dropped on Berlin. I just kinda believe in leaving people well enough alone, unless they try to convert me or something. EXCELLENT post Roduku- and I think you`re right. Religion is often used as a means of control... think of how many times Bush uses God and Iraq in the same sentence. Separation of church and state, my ass...

And beside that, you make a very good point about the woman wanting control. She tries through Christmas presents, through threat of eternal Hell, and et cetera. Nowadays that`s all the control she has- violence could make things ugly very quickly.

A wise man once said: "People arguing over whose religion is the right one are just a bunch of children fighting over who`s invisible friend is strongest."

"Religion has all the answers, and is wrong some of the time. " - Baal

What? Religion didn`t explain E=MC^2; religion didn`t explain quantum mechanics; hell, religion couldn`t even explain anything smaller than what was seen.

Religion is almost wrong all of the time. Science is wrong pretty much all of the time as well, but science at least attempts to be as approximate to right as it can. Science is wrong in the right direction. Religion is just wrong.

haha it`s funny because christmas is a celtic holiday to celibrate the birth of one of their gods. not the birth of jesus. the early church just attached that meaning to it. so really no one should get presents except celtics.

Lol @ LKJSlain.

1) Discounting Catholics from Christianity turns it from the world`s most populous religion into a virtual cult. You drop from being an almost 2 Billion strong religion to less than Hinduism/Bhuddism/Atheism/Islam/Etc etc etc.

2) In what way did Ishmael start Islam? Any teachings anywhere that survived? No. At best you can claim he helped rebuild the Kabah, but if you do that then your ONLY sources also say that Abraham was with him, AND that the foundations were built by Adam.

You`re believing only the convenient for your unfounded argument.

And SprinkZ:
Immaculately done.

"Science has the correct kind of wrong".
According to you, science`s very fundamentals are utterly wrong. Any science relies on the idea that the universe has rules at it`s core.

If that`s wrong, science is wrong, full stop.

You`re basically being a nihilist. You`re applying a logic you don`t even believe in yourself. If you really believed in the whole "the universe has no rules" crap, you`d try walking through the walls instead of trying the doors.

Actually I never replied to your actual point LKJSlain:

Well I have, but you didn`t understand it the first time.

The Jews do not have the same concept of God as Christians.

Jews believe he did not send his only begotten son to save mankind. Jews believe he wants Saturday kept holy. Jews believe he hates the eating of Pork. Jews believe he wants the guys circumcised. Etc, etc, etc.

So your argument about him having Multiple personalities works just as well between Jews and Christians (and even between Christian sects) as it does between Christians and Muslims.

Yet you`re only applying it to Muslims.

how can Christians and catholics call all other religions cults yet they don`t see that Christianity and Catholicism are in and of them selves cults. I went to church when i was young and was petrified of religious ppl because they do what ever the pastor or priest tells them to because its the "ideal" way to be can they not see well i guess no one in a cult truly "believes" they are or ever were in a cult

The only religious folks i like are those who don`t go to church, listen to preachers, etc. They`re the ones who read the books, learn it, and interpret it themselves. The entire concept of church is retarded to me. Like, when i used to go to church with my family, i knew most of the people, and a bunch of them hadn`t read the bible themselves. Seriously? Get a mind of your own. If you`re a kid in a religious household reading this, PLEASE question what you`re taught. Don`t just take it. Question it. Form your own opinions. And if you feel you don`t believe, find out what you do believe. There are plenty of atheistic religious philosophies exist. Secular Theology, Zen Buddhism, or Theravada buddhism. (belief in a non-personal god)

Find out what you believe. there`s thousands of religions. Find yours. And if you find it, Question it again. And just because you found yours, doesn`t mean everyone has the same thoughts. Don`t push it on other people.

Hope that helps.

OR maybe the mother is just having difficulty with her children. We don`t know what it is by 30 seconds of a clip. She could be a really good mother who has reached her end because of this kids behaviour. This happens to parents all the time. I`m sure even you remember getting a strip taken out of you for some reason. So lets be realistic here.

Maybe not a billion dollar - but that AMOUNT of money yes.

"I don`t need science to prove something to me"
Science provides evidence. To ignore science is to live in the Bronze Age.
The burden of evidence is on the believer. You need to provide evidence of god. There is NONE. There is no more evidence for a god as there is for Santa Claus or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. You are deluded. It is as simple as that. I didn`t choose not to believe. It`s not a choice of will.

"Actually faith isn`t believing without evidence anyway. It`s believing without proof according to Oxford English. Believing without evidence is "Blind" faith."

Proofs only exist in mathematics. So "burden of evidence" is accurate. "Burden of proof" is an impossibility.

This kid`s a little jerk for recording this and putting it on the internet in the first place. Something like this should be a private family matter. Instead he SECRETLY records it and puts it on the internet for everyone to see as to say "Hey world, look how big of a bitch my mom is." What a turd. Zero integrity and zero loyalty, not even to his family, his own flesh and blood.

Well... You don´t like thinking, don´you? Let´s take a look at the facts:
1. The kid and the mother are together
2. The cam is a few metres away
3. Suddently, It´s switched off.

CONCLUSION: It wasn´t the kid who recorded this

Please, the kid absolutely had a part in orchestrating this. Don`t be so naive.

And the more I think about it, the mother absolutely had the right to talk to him that way. That`s why she`s the parent and he`s the child. Sure the whole Christmas threat was a little stupid, but that`s not the point. Parents provide the roof over his head, the clothes on his back, and the food on the table. And until that kid is 18, he`s a representive of the parents and he will he will go to church if they tell him to. End of story. He can "think" when he`s 18 and out on his own. And the same goes for atheist parents who don`t want their kid going to church. Respect starts at home. And the father needs to grow a set. It`s obvious who wears the pants in that family.

P.S. If you`re between the ages of 13-17, please keep your parenting advice to yourself.

You dont have to be a believer of a certain religion to participate in rituals. My parents are hindu and I`m not really religious. I like to say that I`m religiously agnostic but culturally Hindu, because I still celebrate Diwali and other holidays. My grandmother was religiously Hindu but culturally Christian because of her upbringing in a Christian boarding school. Makes sense?

Nice one, 14 year old boy. No... actually, you are closed minded because you think that the way you think is the only way to think. That`s not right. And I would not give my kid a choice in what religion they would want. Want to know why? Because my religion says I shouldn`t. This is not wrong. If they walk away from the church, it`s their problem, not mine. But I can make them go to church. So, I`m sorry if I am "closed-minded" for taking my religion seriously, but I am certain that I am not nearly as closed-minded as you. Hypocrite.

Hahaha Christianity is a joke. I mean come on, you go to a building where they take your money and make you listen to boring scriptures. you Read this book that was supposedly written by like 15 different people who spoke different languages and were in different time periods and different cities, all wrote a book that completely co-mingled. Right, talk about gullible. Also, you idiots believe that some massive entity just appeared out of nowhere and created an entire universe. Whenever I ask anyone I know who is christian how they know the bible is right they just change the subject. You know why? They know there is no proof, they just need something to hold onto while they go around wasting their lives worshiping this "god". If you can give me an ounce of proof that god exists I will run onto a busy highway and lay on the road.

"catbarf, basically, yea."

So, you`re saying that you would disown your son because he chooses to believe something different from you? Would you disown him because his favorite type of cake is different? It`s not something you can prove, and it`s not something for you to choose. If he`s going to make a choice between religion with the consequences of eternal punishment in Hell or going to Heaven, then it`s his choice!

Guess freedom of speech bugs you too. Maybe we should just make Christianity the official religion?

What gives you the right to decide what somebody else believes?

Ok, 14 year old boy, For one, the church is not a building. It is a body made by many people. They don`t "take" our money. We give it to them. And while some of that money goes to pay the salaries of some of the clergy, the majority of it goes to helping those in need. Shows how much you know, huh? Also, There were only 3 languages written in the bible. Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Also, believing in God is no more far-fetched than believing that 2 particles of unknown origin coincidentally collided together to create the big bang, which created the whole, eternal universe. And how do I know the Bible is true? A. Faith B. Historically Accurate C. When everything else falls apart, Christianity is the only thing left standing. You can`t prove the existance of God. But then again, I can`t prove that your brain actually exists either. You seriously know nothing. Grow up and start researching, 14 year old boy.

on the most part Aretsuku-kun, i pretty much agree with you.it is a building w/ ppl getting how you say, "conned"

"When everything else falls apart, Christianity is the only thing left standing."
WTF?christianity started like a dozen wars in the past, and destryoed several cultures(especially ones in that women had equal rights as men).
Take some history classes and maybe you`d know a thing or two about your own religion.

Sickening... That lady doesn`t sound very christian (or American for that matter) trying to force her son into believeing things he doesn`t believe in using threats. The kid has a right to believe what he wants. The kid says he`s atheist and she acts like he`s doing drugs. There`s nothing wrong with being atheist, and there`s nothing wrong with being christian. A person`s choice religion should not be a mark on the person overall. If people like this lady would just accept all religions, there`d be no more religious stereotypes or religious wars. I never question anyone`s religion, and if someone questions mine, I answer the question without getting into a religious argument. I have no problem with anyone`s religion, but i do have a problem with people who are intolerant of other people`s religious choices.

Hmm... it has walls.... it has windows.... it has a roof.... it seems like a building to me. Anyway, sorry three languages whatever I don`t usually research something I know is bullcrap.
A)Faith... how the hell is that a reason the bible is right.
B)Historically accurate: Really? They recorded in the history books that a guy walked around miraculously healing people? Gee i don`t see that in my history book.
C) The only reason that it would be left standing is because so many idiots like you are lured into false hope. Oh and I can prove that my brain exists moron, because I wouldn`t function without one. And the particle thing, There are millions of particles. There`s a high chance that that would happen, much more of a chance than a supernatural being making an entire damn univers in 7 days. Personally I think YOU should grow up considering you`re sitting at a computer arguing with a 14 year old, get a life. As for me I have to leave because I have a life and a job. Good da

Mrjimmycm, try to stop being the stereotypical ignorant Christian bully. So far you`ve referred to Aretsuku-kun as "14 year old boy", 3 times on this page alone. He may be only 14 years old (you`re much older, so therefore he doesn`t deserve an opinion, right?), but at least he has the courage to make up his own mind.

Kudos to you, Aretsuku-kun. Pay no attention to Mrjimmycm trying to shoot you down because of your age.

And evry1 here.... some of you have been fighting, some have been insulting atheists, some insulting christians some insulting religion overall, etc. Why is it so important to fight about this? it was debating, then fighting, then insulting each other`s religion, can`t we just see that a person`s religion is not a "joke" or a "hipocracy" or "the worst"?
A person`s choice is a person`s right. If their beliefs don`t involve crime, their choice isn`t hurting anyone. Where`s this fighting gonna get you in the end?

Alright. For one, I am not an ignorant, Christian Bully. I was standing up for someone who really didn`t know what they were talking about. I do. I can prove that the bible is historically accurate. But first I would need an argument. Of course Christianity has started many wars. I do know my history. I am a researcher. However, that was in the past, and there hasn`t been war in Christianity`s name for hundereds of years. This is because The church realized they were wrong for this. I kept calling Aretsuku-kun 14 year old boy because of his intollerance. I just say, you can`t respect another person because of your religion, I won`t respect you because of your age and lack of knowledge of something you choose to argue about. Funny... He called me an idiot first, but I can`t call him what he is... a 14 year old boy. The sad thing is, I am against hypocritical bull crap and bigotry. That is why I am sticking up for my religion and choices.

yea a church doesnt have to have a building. a building is just a convenient way to get a bunch of ppl together under one faith. Mrjimmycm is right they dont con us into giving them money. its called a donation! we dont have to give anything if we didnt want to thats why we have free will to give. also those of u who dont believe in faith then u shouldnt believe in anything. whether u noe it or not faith is the fabric that hold everything together. if we didnt have faith everything would be in chaos. i noe most of you r gonna rebuttle me and tell i`m stupid or watever but doesnt that make all of u that say christians r ignorant complete hypocrites. seems to me that u guys r the ones bein ignorant. i`m backin u up 100% Mrjimmycm

I had already said that I can`t prove that it`s historically accurate without some one telling me why it isn`t. I have to know what exactly I am arguing. You can`t prove anything about the miracles that have happened in the Bible. But you would be dumb to deny the fact that Jesus actually did walk the earth. Or King David or King Solomon for that matter. There have been markings drawn on rocks around where the Hebrews were wandering around for 40 years in the desert of the north eastern tip of Saudi Arabia. These were drawings of cows and what are thought to be maps. This would show that some one who worshiped a calf was probably wandering around the area. Why not the Hebrews from the Exodus
? They worshiped the Golden Calf! This shows that if the Exodus actually occured, then Moses was around too. I can say a lot more, but I am not here to argue, but to call those hypocrites out who call Christians closed-minded for having a belief. We all have beliefs. I just take mines seriously.

From the Merriam-Webster dictionary:

Christ-mas

Pronunciation: \`kris-məs\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English Christemasse, from Old English Cristes mæsse, literally, Christ`s mass

1 : a Christian feast on December 25 or among some Eastern Orthodox Christians on January 7 that commemorates the birth of Christ and is usually observed as a legal holiday.

Please note that the definition of Christmas is NOT a holiday to spend quality time with family and buy presents for each other in the name of happiness and whatnot.

Catbarf,
I do know White Man`s Burden. It is about the American conquest of the Philippines and it centers around Eurocentric racism. This was not a war in the name of God, but a war in the name of American Values. There is no Christian war in the name of the Christian God. There hasn`t been for a couple centuries. Ireland doesn`t count. That was a civil war.
I don`t know if it`s wise to listen to the "wisdom" of a kid who calls himself "Catbarf"....

It was a war, among other things, in spreading the Christian religion to far eastern and African countries. To claim that that does not make it at least partially a religion-driven series of conflicts is idiocy.

As for names, I think it best for you to avoid drawing conclusions of people based on an internet handle.

I wonder who turned off the camera. I bet it was his sister or something. I think he`ll be in a LOT more trouble after they realized he videotaped it. But there are alternatives... The other person could have taped it to their own accord and turned it off before getting caught. Or, this could be fake. Doubting it.

Catholics and Christians are two different religions, with sort-of different views. One has saints that the other believes is unnecessary. One is with ceremonies (reading from the bible), while the other has praising and singing christian rock or new age or whatever it was.

What an idiot you guys are. Catholics ARE Christians, by definition. In fact, they make up half of the world`s 2 billion Christians, and are much more numerous than any other group.

This is like saying "Baptists and Christians are two different religions", or "Sunnis and Muslims are two different religions". Research what you`re talking about before you start spouting sh*te.
