I have to say that was one hella big explosion. From the looks though, it blew a bit off from its destination (the place it detonated looks just like a regular segment of street, no US checkpoint, no US troops, or transports, or even tanks..) but still.. CRAP. Thats just horrible. Oh and kiddies.. that was REAL.

I believe the editor used the "Iraqi-Truck-Bomb-Goes -Boom Effect Filter" in this one..... = P

But seriously, at the speed at which that explosion expanded, I can barely, barely imagine the objects in its wake disintegrating in those millionths of seconds. Just plain wow.

By taking the video frame by frame as best as possible it looks like the white truck in the small line blew up. A black truck started to pass it right when it blew up. Maybe the black truck was the target?

It`s weird that not 20 years ago all you could see on the news was small time suicide bombers that had trouble taking their own lives ( And the lives of others for that matter ) with fireworks and now today you got stuff like this.

If there`s no outside help then I dont know what happened but they sure got better with explosives.

You guys are totally ignorant. Wanting to go to the middle east and kill people. KILL! Imagine the pain its brings to people. Put yourself on the other side, some guy with a gun and almost futuristic equipment is walking around, loathing everyone he sees because he`s so paranoid, then you make a bad move and BAM! The guy acts before thinking.

The army is full of idiots. The government is probably saving money on welfare by sending you guys there "in th name of your country". Common, would anyone in their right mind would want to weat poo food, live with 50 others sweaty, dumb guys whilke wearing combt fatigues in 100+ heat? Weres the fun and adventure in tormenting innocent people and being away from home?

All this prejudice against arabs and muslims is horrible as well. I have visited the Middle East and these people are just like you and me, but instead of having just saying they believe in God, they show it 5 times a day. Sure they use him to justify certin thing, but

If you don`t have anything that you would fight for then you can shut the hell up fresh.

You are the one spouting off ignorant bull. The U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, are fighting dangerous enemy terrorists. Note to you buddy, terrorists KILL PEOPLE TOO. You`re just a brainwashed buffoon who believes that the military walks into an Iraqi civies` home and just shoots the entire family and then afterwards takes a dump on the carpet.

Mistakes happen, innocents die, its war and its life. It doesn`t make it any better, but believing that peace is attainable will ultimately lead to more death and destruction. Try using logic to understand that concept, but from reading your post it may take you a while.

Our military men and women come from all walks of life, from every tier of society. Realistically, yes, there is a greater ratio between "poorer" to "richer" people.

Our military is well trained and 99% of them are fighting not for America but for Iraqis. C

Believe want you want, I don`t really give a damn. Believe that you are the most progressive, idealistic being on this entire plane of existence. Fact is you live in Canada and you have absolutely no say in what goes on in America, and I can be thankful everyday for that.

Live in your fantasy world and keep the beautiful veil over your eyes. The truth is much to bright for you in the real world.

Well aren`t you just a smart little girl. Technically one could edit each frame, one frame at a time in Photoshop, but who in their right mind would take a minute or so of video at THIRTY frames a second and add a fake explosion? Are you as much of an idiot as you made yourself out to be? Something like that would be done in After Effects or Maya or any number of VIDEO editing programs. NO-ONE uses Photoshop to add moving effects to video. DUH!

How could anyone have supported the war in the first place, and now want to pull out? You NEVER should ahve started thatw ar to begin with, what a massive waste of American and Iraqi lives, what a massive waste of money that you could be using in much more productive ways. And now you want to just leave because Americans are losing their lives? How irresponsible is that? You blast away a country, leave their infrastructure and government in shambles, and then pull out when there are Americans dying? That`s what war does - it kills people. If you can`t handle that fact, how can you support war in the first place??

And what`s with this valuing American lives over Iraqi lives?? Did you guys not evolve a conscience?

Wow that is rude, I don`t find scary in the least I`m sure if I was in a area where that sort of things happened I would. And I said I found it neat because of the shockwave effect, not because of the people who may have got hurt. And I can see how the people in Iraq arw doing these things , in there mind they are defending something they own. ANd that is why they kill, don`t get me wrong I think killing in any case in a wrong thing to do. And yo Anderclown, I can see how you have hate for the ones trying to kill you but that is no reason to hate a whole nation. I just don`t understand why anyone would want to put themselves in that kind of area.

anderclown: "I have nothing but hate for Iraqis trying to kill my brothers..."

yeah, thats`s the right spirit to bring "democracy" to the Iraqi people......

The iraqi people (insurgents, terrorists, militia, resistance, whatever you want to call them) who fight against a force that invaded their country, will use all necessary means to fight off that invasion. If it means the killing of their own people, than that is just a small sacrifice for them in order to defeat the largest military power in the world, don`t you understand? You will never defeat them, everytime a so-called insurgent is killed, 2 wanna-be insurgents, will vow to revenge his death, etc.

I don`t have the solution to this, but if the US army keeps sending soldiers like "anderclown" than I`ve got he feeling that 9/11 was just an appetizer.....Wa Alikum Salaam

I find it ridiculous that these so-called "humanists" see the US Army as being a bunch of murderers. I signed up for the Army to help our country. Going to Iraq and killing to defend the Soldiers is part of my job. I protect America, I don`t kill Iraqis. There`s a big f.uckin` difference, and if anyone is too ignorant to see that, then you shouldn`t have an opinion on the war.

Also, you shouldn`t have an opinion on a country you don`t live in. I don`t talk s.hit about Canada. And if there was somebody that wanted to attack and kill Canadians, I would be one of the first people in to defend your asses as a part of an infantry unit. I don`t ask questions because it`s my f.ucking job. Don`t call an 18-year-old Soldier that dies for his country a murderer. He`s doing his f.ucking job, and it`s a job you would never have the guts to do.

This made my stomach turn. Its hard to believe there is a place where things such as that are "commen." I really don`t understand the mindset of the people doing these things. For the safety of our troops, I would love for us to leave, but for the safety of the good people in Iraq I am glad we are there. If we just left now, the people that are passionate enough to blow themselves up, killing everyone around them, would be in charge. I for one would not want that in my own country, and I am sure that some people in Iraq feel the same way.
Anderclown, good luck. I hope to see you return saftly. Always remember what your fighting for, and don`t let the actions of some Iraqis give you a negitive view on all of them.

Thank you mbaxter and to everyone that supports our troops. It really breaks my heart when I hear people blame the Soldiers for poor decisions. Try to think of the military as the county`s muscle to get the work done. We do our jobs. No matter what the job requires. Thanks to everyone who says they support the troops. Even if you don`t think anyone cares, the troops always love to hear it. Nothing gets us more pumped to f.uck some s.hit up. Lol, just kidding...

For those that fight for it, Freedom has a Price the Protected will never know.

This War isn`t being fought for sake of anyone alive now. It is so that the Future of Iraq doesn`t involve a sociopathic dictator like Saddam Hussein or his sadistic offspring. War is hell, but some will survive it, and those that do will better understand the infinite value of peace.

anderclown, you need to relax. I don`t think anyone sees the american soldiers as evil or heartless, it`s the government`s desicion to invade and also stay in the country that people complain about.

The american soldiers are of course as innocent as the Iraqi people, and the only way to stop the madness is for the government to recall the troops.

And before anyone starts saying anything along the lines that "freedom isn`t free", the problem with the war is that it isn`t going anywhere, and probably never will, since it`s almost impossible to take over a country when the population is against you.

There are good things happening in Iraq. There are good people working hard every day to make a difference for the future of Iraq. Iraqi women, men, and children lived under an oppressive ruler for over 30 years. The transition to a free world and a brand new chance on life is stressful and difficult. But the end result is a better way of life and a better world.

The problem is this type of news doesn`t sell papers, it doesn`t get people to tune in to watch the news. People like to be thrilled. Generally speaking, that`s why the busiest rides at the fair are the scariest, most thrilling; the most popular TV shows are about murder and mayhem; the most watched movies are the action-packed, put you on the edge of your seat type.

Good news and progress doesn`t typically make the headlines; it`s just not "exciting". So, you won`t usually hear about it on the 6 o`clock news.

You have to look for it.

Just Google these 3 simple words...

and remember, for every negative story, there`s a positive story (Newton`s Law). You just have to look for it, because the "good news" will not be handed to you on a silver platter like the "bad news" is every day.

Just to dispel any rumors. This video was in fact taken in Iraq on one of the cameras I am in charge of. The Truck was destined for an alternate location, but the driver became spooked and detonated himself against an Iraqi Army checkpoint. Amazingly, the only person killed was the suicide bomber. The explosion was only around 500 meters from the camera.

Look anderclown. I understand this is your job and all, but I can`t agree that you are "protecting" your country by going 6 000 miles from your country to do what? Help people you don`t know and who don`t want you there. Where do you get this concept oh protecting? Tell me, how can a country that was soo poor an corrupted as Iraq could possibly be a threat to the United States, the strongest and technologically advanced country in the world? Maybe you wouldn`t need to kill iraqis to "protect" yourself in Iraq.

Calling me ignorant is quite ironic. Apart fox news, there is absolutely no institutions more brainwashing than the united states army. I mean you sign up and then bam! You don`t need to think anymore, the army does it for you. You go fights these guys and you don`t really have a choice. Opinions are generated by the army itself.

To continue, it is my duty as a citizen of this world to question actions that potentially destroy the balance of powers in the world. Why then, could I not have an opinion on a omean personry I don`t live in. Does this mean I can`t say that France is full of frogs or that Russia is a bunch of potatoe eating commies? Fact is this is an important part of world fraternity, to question internaitonal action.

I couldn`t care less about your opinion of Canada, nor the fact that you would come and kill people for it. I can`t see any future terrorist attacks on Canada. Oh, and by the way, the only two foreign attacks you guys have had in the last century have been 9/11 and Pearl Harbour. That`s like a 1 to 5000 ratio to all the troubles the United States has created around the world.

I find it interesting that you approch being a soldier as a job. Being a soldier is more than a "job". It is a way of life, and hasard and it is also more importantly being a pawn of americxan foreig

The whole "liberal press" argument is just so wrong. The unbiased or even left leaning media outlets in the united states is such a minority its is downright ridiculous. The most liberal channel you have outside of PBS isCBS, and even then it has jumped ships and is at best neutral on th war. You can`t put all your trust int he media for your information. CNN, Fox and all these news networks are downright scary. I totally understand that americans would be for the war because they don`t give you any other opinion. Canada is starting to have this as well. We are in Afghanistan and now even our national media network (cbc) has become being for the troops.

I`m not tryng to be pretentious or to force down you throats my view on the world. But it is a fact that the war in Iraq (wich has been officialy finished years ago and has never technically been a war) has been a useless waste of ressource of amrican tax money. Go try and save your economy.

    And remember, ALLAH BLESS AMERI

The thing to also remember anderclown, is that after 9/11 happened, Canada sent troops to Afganistan to help you guys out. We would be among the first to help you guys out if you`re attacked. But the situation with Iraq was completely different. You had absolutely no legitimate reason for invading them. They didn`t attack you, Saddam and the country had been crippled for years due to international sanctions, and they were absolutely no threat to you. I get so sick of Americans complaining that we don`t help when we did - in fact we`re in charge of the colaition troops in Afganistan now. If you guys had stayed in Afganistan, and done a proper job there, then we wouldn`t be in this mess.

    Iraq is a bullpoo war.

Hmmm... last time I checked, I dont remember anything about Iraqis wanting to invade the US. In fact, we have alot more in country violence from gangs, homegrown terrorists like McVeigh and the little camps in Montana that like to pretend they are a different country. I say... and this is just something off the top of my head, I say that we take care of our OWN problems before thinking we can handle someone else`s.

Look, I`m not some sort of right-wing nut. The Army IS my job because I signed up for it. If anybody doesn`t trust the media it`s the Army. I`m not trying to tell anybody that the war is positive. Honestly, I don`t even believe in it. The reason I go, is because I signed a contract and said I would defend this country from enemies both foreign and domestic. No matter what the Army decides to do, I agree. That doesn`t make me a brainless monster, it makes me a faithful American. I don`t think you understood what I meant by protecting Americans. I don`t fight insurgents to protect them from coming here or attacking you, I do it for the immediate protection of our troops in contact. That is my primary job "to support troops in contact." I don`t CAUSE problems, and no other Soldier does either. We get hit and and we react. That is defense. It`s defense for the Soldiers. That is my job. I don`t want to be there and do that job but I said I would, and that`s what I do until told ot

^^ koko, "By the way? Where is Obama?"

Obama is currently in Arizona as part of his Presidential election campaign. OSAMA, on the other hand, is in apparently in a cave somewhere in the Bora Bora Mountains on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. Supposedly hooked up to a hi-tech kidney dialysis machine.

Apparently the Fox News-led smear campaign is working, at least on a subconscious level...

On a more serious note, to anderclown^^,

I respect immensely what you are doing, and please understand that people like me (those who think the invasion was a VERY BAD IDEA) do not in any way think the soldiers are "evil" in any way. But by reading your last post, you`re obviously an intelligent guy and understand that anyway. I for one wish you all the best (sincerely) and a safe return home, without having to face the horror shown in this video.

And before I get flamed, I`m British, our guys are dying too, so please don`t wheel out the old "You`re not American so you`re not entitled to an opinion" spiel.

It`s really OK to support the troops (like anderclown), and yet still oppose the war.

To continue, there are a lot of Armchair Patriots out there.

If you`re such a patriot and think Bush had a great plan (not trying to tar all American voters with the same brush, but apparently more than 50% of you guys voted for that wanker, otherwise he would not be President) then I have a great website for you. US Army Recruiment Website.

Full respect anderclown, I think the war was a bad idea, but I have ultimate respect for you as the only person here to have the right to even talk about the Iraq situation.

God Bless and God Speed (but from a different standpoint).

Okay anderclown - I realize that maybe you came into this war after it was already started, with the aim of protecting other soldiers. Which is okay in my opinion.

But the fact remains that the U.S. army went over there and started the war. They didn`t react to a hit, they started the hit. The army made up entirely of soldiers invaded Iraq and instigated a war.

And I`m sorry but the fact is that if you agree with "no matter what the army decides to do" simply because it`s your job, then you aren`t thinking very much for yourself.

I`m not knocking Canada or anybody, lol. I just think that some people decide how to feel about an issue before they have experienced it firsthand. By the way, davymid, I`ve always respected and appreciated the British for their support of our troops. I didn`t vote for George Bush and I didn`t want to go to war. I just needed a push in the right direction and the Army started that for me.Thanks for the kind words and support and I hope we can end this craziness before much more Soldier blood is spilled. Dude you are right on point. I come from a long line of military service in my family, including my own foray with 3/75 ranger regiment - 90-94. Nothing sickens me more than these self-centered Americans now days that think freedom comes free. I just can`t fathom the mentality of these people that think we should come home. This will merely embolden them to the point that we`ll be right back over there somewhere within 5 years. History is a prime example of this. I`m just so sick of self-centered Americans whining about the price of gas, or bitching because they think their euro-vacation is gonna be ruined because everyone hates americans. Heres a wake up call - europeans have always hated America. Growing up I lived in Turkey, Greece, Italy and Germany -- not to mention I traveled nearly everywhere else in Europe during that time so believe me, nothing has changed in 25 years - people hate Americans.

It just shocks me to no end that so many Americans are that stupid.
