Oh good god. These photos arent photoshopped or airbrushed... I have been interested in cosmic photography since i was 12 and i would LOVE it if you people would go outside with your cameras and take a pic of the night sky... tell me what you see.
NO STARS.

I see that NASA have "Airbrushed" the stars out again, looks like the original pictures captured things they didn`t want us to see.

Your link made me gag. these people believe that Austria is a hole in the ground, the Earth flies upward at the speed of light. They believe there is an ice wall and that Nasa is a myth. Really.

(although, they would make a better U.S. president than Bush. Just kidding. Then there would be a war on Nasa.

I don`t want to be the one to call out photochop but look at the 3rd photo down. It looks like a picture of a model....nothing about it looks real.

The others look awesome though.

Actually the world is flat, but not geographically. Socially it is. But thats a story for a rainy day.
-While this is all well and neat, i get the NASA channel so i seem to have grown very exposed to these shots.. only.. in motion! good stuff though, its a shame that you can`t see the stars because of the over-exposure from the low-grade cameras.

I don`t know what is cooler: floating above Earth or seeing Earth from the surface of the Moon?

Either way, I want to go into space before I die.

redawn

The reason you can`t see the stars is the same reason you can`t see them from the earth (in photos). Though it does "filter" it a bit, the atmosphere isn`t "blocking the light" as much as it distorts it (twinkle effect). The reason they aren`t visible has to do with the amount of light in the foreground. Sort of like the dark shadows created in photos taken with a flash. See those visors on the space suites? With no "filter" of the atmosphere, "space" can be very bright (or dark). Think about walking outside in full sun from a dark room. The camera is having to adjust for the relative brightness. ((Without going into exposure, aperture(sp?), etc.))

Yay for the CanadArm... Our only success... xD

Nice pictures. I used to want to be an astronaut, until I realized I was afraid of flying, and not quite smart enough...

Amazingly beautiful! It does almost appear to be photoshopped just by the grandness (is that a word?) of it all. Totally jealous!

amazing clarity. . .I know for myself when photo graphing things. . .to keep the fore ground focused. . .the background becomes less so. . .both the shuttle/astronauts and the earth/clouds are crisp and clear. . .pretty amazing camera work. . .or photo shop.

Plus hate to be all "conspiracy" (no I don`t <g>) but where are the stars in the black sky. . .no atmosphere to block the light and with the amazing picture quality. . .this is one detail I would like to have seen.

The second picture down is from last year`s Discovery mission, and some pictures are with Endeavour, so I don`t believe the caption at top of the page, the images are most likely just stolen from teh internets.

While browsing The Flat Earth Society`s forums, it is pretty tough to tell if they`re being serious or not. Obviously any sensible person would just think it`s a joke, but then again there are a LOT of crazies out there.

ANYway, these photos are very frikkin` cool.
