I worked on the sister ship of this one, The Navigator of the Seas briefly (as part of training). They were at the time the equal 2nd biggest ship in the world, 2nd to QM2. Now they`d be number 3 because the Freedom of teh seas was released last year. The photos don`t really do it justice. Especially the promenade deck. It`s like a street or mall in the middle of the ship, with glass ceilings 5 or 6 decks above the paved `street`, lined with shops. They are massive ships. You realise how long when you walk from one end to the other along the crew corridor, nicknamed the I95.

What`s the point of being at sea when you`ll just distract yourself with everything you get on land?

It seems like a lot of people are knocking cruises without ever having been on one. I have been on a few, and they`re some of the most fun I`ve ever had. So they`re a little crowded sometimes, but it`s hard to notice when you`re watching shows, relaxing, drinking, gambling, playing sports, enjoying delicious food (available 24 hours a day), and meeting interesting people from all over the country.

I went on a cruise on the sister ship of this one. It was called the Navigator of the Seas, whereas this one is Eplorer of the Seas (all the Royal Caribbean ships are something of the seas). It looks the same as the one I was on. It was kickass.

The company that I work for has a division that builds these. We`ve built the 3 largest cruise ships on the water.

I just wish I could get a discounted trip on one.

not as big as the QM2, otherwise I would have heard about it...then again, IAB counts as `hearing about it`... I`d better check the news.

On the inside pictures it just looks like they`re inside a building. Can`t even tell you`re in the middle of the ocean.

I heard of this before. `Modern Titanic` might prove apt - they had a tough time making the ship strong enough with a huge shopping-arcade shaped hole in the middle of it, they might have got it wrong.

And there`s a dark side to cruises. You`re in a town of a few thousand people, with no police, limited security (as well as for saving money, the operators will think too many security guards will put people off!) and questionable laws. Murder, rape, and theft all happen on cruise ships, and when it`s the staff who are the perpetrators, expect no help from anyone.

i agree with gloryto- it`s hideous
why would you pay that amount of money to "travel the world", when you don`t get to experience the culture of any of the countries you visit, and have to live with noisy arrogant people.

big generalistion there, but you get my point

Oh, great. Looks like a huge mall filled with obnoxious tourists to me, with the added horribleness of crammed public swimming pools. Only you can`t get out, being surrounded be the ocean, and all. Shudder.

While this one is very ornate, most cruise ships have a lot of those features. I liked the pool layout

Cool but, way to many people for my taste. I would not mind taking a cruse up to Alaska or to Hawaii Via the CA coastal area. Beets a long flight.

That was the Explorer of the Sea, one of the many ships in the Royal Caribean Cruise lines, there new ship the Freedom of the seas is alot bigger, with some new features. Most of there ships also have an ice rink and a bowling alley. It dosent coast a much as many people think for an inside cabing, but it can be expenseive for a room with a patio or a sweet. I have been on that ship twice, and it is alot of fun, most of the time you forget your on a ship! My 15th cruise is actually planned for the middle of next year over to Europe! I cant wait!

Pretty cool, I think it`s not that insanely expensive to stay on tough since there are ALOT of sleeping chambers. What an great achievement in engineering such a ship tough. :->

Modern day titanic? The Titanic was an ocean liner, this is a cruise ship. Also, there are a lot of ships bigger than this one...but, I have to admit that this particular ship is the sex.

i mean, its definitely impressive, and its one of the largest cruise ships i`ve ever seen, but aside from the mini golf course and the volleyball court, i think most if not all cruise ships have most of that other stuff...at least, the ones i`ve been on do.

still cool though :)

It isn`t impressive until you see the inside.

How is it the `modern Titanic`? Is it engeneered to hit an iceberg? Does Leonardo DiCaprio own it?

Otherwise, it`s just a big boat.
