I dont see the big deal about this, the cheap Samsung phone I got a few months ago has got exactly the same features.
I wouldnt class it as a rape alarm. Rape alarms make a loud noise to scare the attacker off, the phones just send a text to people, and by the time anyone responds the attack would have already happened. Also in a situation like that, it would be easier to pull the cord from a rape alarm than try to find the phone, then the right key and press the correct amount of times.

I think it`s more for date rape with the assistance of GHB, than the more forcible rape.

Yeah, and if this was really about public safety he wouldn`t charge 700 something dollars for the phone. I can only imagine how much the service costs.

Rape Alarm? It`ll take minutes for those alerted to get to the scene. Now a six shot Rape Deterrent handgun works better.

for near $800 you would think the phone would call the police directly and then emit a very loud noise that doesnt stop until your fingerprint is confirmed or you smash it.

Hey Bekll, rape IS that common.

One out of every four women will be raped. And the number jumps to much higher when you`re talking about not full on sexual intercourse that`s forced, or talking about being forced by boyfriends or fiances or husbands to do things the woman doesn`t want to do.

    It`s very, very sad.

where did this one in four come from? there was no proofage, it seems a high number to be raped. perhaps its sexually assaulted, because that could include just groping. well, i say `just`, you know what i mean.

anyways, who the hell would rape a phone?

realblender- "One-fourth of all women are raped." (Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls, page 224)
To all those people making jokes, you really don`t realize how serious this is. "On any given day in America, 480 women and children will be forcibly raped, 5,760 women will be assaulted by a male intimate partner and four women and three chrildren will be murdered by a famliy member." (Reviving Ophelia, page 219)
There`s a million pieces of evidence pointing to how messed up this world`s view of sex and sexual things are- "Teens were asked to respond to questions about circumstances under which a man `has the right to have sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent.` Righty percent said the man had the right to use force if the couple were married, and 70 percent if the couple planned to marry. Sixty-one percent said that force was justified if the couple had had prior sexual relations. More than half felt that force was justifie

...d if the woman had lef the man on. Thirty percent said it was justified if he knew that she had had sex with other men, or if he was so sexually stimulated he couldn`t control himself, or if the woman was drunk. More than half the students thought that `if a woman dresses seductively and walks alone at night, she is asking to be raped.` Clearly at least 80 percent of these teenagers didn`t know that a man never had a right to force sex." (Reviving Ophelia, page 206).

This is serious, people. It`s nothing to be joked about.

On a note related to the actual post, that`s a stupid phone, call 911 on your phone and carry mace. I agree with what other people have said- the people who need this the most are the people who won`t be able to afford it.

*Hugs Kristen323* You`re awesome!! and it is so true, people think that rape isn`t a common thing when so many people I know have been raped or sexually assaulted, it`s sad what this world has come to. Honestly, if you want sex so bad that you could even THINK of raping someone...there`s always hookers..seriously, just pay someone rather than wreck another person`s life.
