@ sulu: Talking to you is like being bukakked with stupid.

lmao!

in my point of view, sulu made a death wish to all humans, switched his words around when hylian attacked him for it. sulu kinda had a point when he said humans being on top means nothing. my friend noah always goes on rants how people should die, that doesn`t make him a hippie, thats the complete opposite.

neon carrot i agree with you on the whole issue, except for the hatred of hippies. i kinda advocate hippie "nonsense".

Oh and I don`t think humans and the by-products of our society are inherrently harmful to the Earth. Mostly they are, but that is our own choice. It is completely possible to live in peace with nature, most people just don`t choose to do so.

That was pretty cool... It`s nice to think the earth might not be screwed forever after all, that it might still have a chance if we all just dropped dead right now. :) But it`s sad to think how much plastic and radioactive waste and other crap we`d leave behind that would just stay and stay and not go away.

"Actually Overmann, uncontrolled wildfires have happened before in the past."

Don`t say `actually` when you agree with me.

"...nature is a culmination of productive AND destructive events."

Nature is not a culmination of productive and destructive events. Like I said, categorizing nature`s processes as negative or positive is a strictly human trait. Nature just *is*.

Actually Overmann, uncontrolled wildfires have happened before in the past.

In fact, it is believed by many that the fires that occured as a direct result of the asteriod impact that killed off the dinosaurs contributed more to their dimise than the impact trauma itself.

Like you say, however, at the end of the day, nature is a culmination of productive AND destructive events. But let`s all understand that the implications of the article was that humans and the by-products of our society is inherrently harmful to the Earth.

I happen to believe that`s not neccesarily true, but it`s the sentiment I got from the article, at least.

"seriously how will you get pictures of a world without humans"

I figure they could use some art work of some sort. You know, an artist`s rendition? (I hope I spelled that right)

As for sulu...kid...This is the internet. Arguing on it is as retarded as it gets. Let it go. All those involved in it are just hiding behind their computer monitors....including yourself. Grow up, go out and do something, for god`s sake, get a life.

"After reading most of the commentary on IAB (specifically within these pages), are you quite sure you want to call humans `intelligent?`"

I am. Based on my definition of intelligence there are no conflicts, although agreeably the term can seem misleading. It also helps to generalize... heh.

On the fire thing, I was under the impression that the general human response to wildfire was `Let it burn, guys.`

I know there are a few circumstances in which we intervene, like it`s an imminent threat to human life, but don`t we mostly just let it go?

"The page fails to mention that without human intervention, wildfires from volcanic activity or lightning strikes could severely affect the world`s climate and surface composition."

1. Are you suggesting this has never happened in the whole of Earth`s history prior to the appearance of man a mere two million years ago?

2. Are you suggesting this is necessarily bad? It`s nature, pure and simple. Categorizing negative or positive outcomes to the processes of nature is a human trait; nature doesn`t care either way.

but he was very happy to know that his show would be sending out waves forever lol

As far as I`m concerned, humans have control of precious little when looking at the grand scheme of things. Taking an Astronomy class will force one to realize this.

Though humans are intelligent, relative few of them truly appreciate the fact that Earth is a closed system and that simply because humans are capable of screwing over Nature isn`t justification for doing so or is indeed at all wise.

I like my planet and I like all kinds of animals. A world full of just cows, pigs, chickens and sheep would be a rather dull world, don`t you agree?

1. It was shown that Monkeys have been able to invent tools that help them survive in the wild.

2. It`s programed into your brain to eat fatty food, of course that doesn`t mean eating veggies doesn`t taste good (if cooked properly) but you`re probably the guy who only eats veggies if it`s covered in cheese right?

Also, I don`t get those of you who say "The world would be how it`s supposed to be, if we weren`t here." It`s not like the human species staged a coup and overthrew the basic order of the planet. This planet has been around for a very freaking long time (everyone knows this, but I don`t think everyone really can fathom just how much history passed before humans even began to exist), and it will be around long after this stage in earth`s development has passed. Humans are meant to be the driving force on this planet right now. Like everything else, though, this "reign of humans" will come and go, and another life form will take over once our time is through.

Or, we can stick around, some good stuff won`t happen, but the planet will still heat up and then be destroyed by the Sun.

Same result in the end either way, right?

I`m sick and tired of people who talk about what we are doing to the other animals and what not, to them I have two things to say:

1. If they were meant to be our equals they would have the same ability to create/use tools just like humans.

2. If we were meant to kill them, then why do they taste so damn good?

And on a final note, all you folks about to get your panties in a bunch, I`m not listening. :)
