Oh, and this isn`t about Christians or Americans or pot-bellied pigs . . . well it`s sort of about pot-bellied pigs. But I digress, it`s about some disgustingly retarded women. Period.

The bashing is useless. And remember, if you want to use television personalities to judge a nation and it`s people, I`m sure we can look up some of yours to evaluate your intelligence as well.

I should not have laughed at that nearly as hard as I did . . .although, I was thinking the smae thing, please don`t eat me Star Jones V2.0

So they`re being metaphorical here, I get it. But if someone really believed the Earth was flat, I wouldn`t say they were wrong or right. We can`t be sure about anything, even if we`re 99.99% certain.

HOWEVER! However, there is one exception to the whole "don`t be sure thing": North Dakota is still just a myth. If you believe in North Dakota, you`ve got to be some ignorant, sub-mediocre bag of flaming interstellar dog waste. Thank you for your time.

I think the point she`s trying to make is that it doesn`t matter if the world is flat or not. What matters is how you support yourself and your family. However, the way in which it was said makes her seem extremely stupid...

People who make fun of christians calling them ignorant, aren`t they also being ignorant?

What does this clip have to do with religion? Sure, many Christians thought the world was flat, but does that really have to do with religion?

it`s funny how it`s all taken literally until it`s proven incorrect, at which point it becomes metaphorical.

Every person who read the bible 500 years ago really thought god made everything in a week. Now you ask people who`ve read it or know the story, and each day was so many millions of years and the creation story was one big metaphor.

But of course there`s still your people who believe the earth is barely 10,000 years old and everything really was created in a week.

^ its funny how you can just choose what is to be metaphorical, and what actually happened, as there are no rules to that sort of thing.

-there are no parts of the bible believed to have been written by God or Jesus. Before you Christian Bash, know a bit about what you`re talking about.-

I could have swore the bible was "the word of god". I didn`t specifically mean he picked up a pen and wrote a chapter, I meant he`s the direct inspiration (i.e. "god said this is how it is") behind quite a few parts.

Him telling someone to write something is just as good as him writing it, isn`t it?

Every single person here who didn`t immediately realize that this clip was taken out of context is an idiot. Of course they are not talking literally. They are speaking metaphorically.

there are no parts of the bible believed to have been written by God or Jesus. Before you Christian Bash, know a bit about what you`re talking about.

everyone chooses what to believe in. God, Angels, Fairies, Nothing, or the flying spaghetti monster, it`s their choice.

You have no proof that you are right, I have no proof that I am right. So let`s just agree to disagree and sing hippie songs.

Seriously, there a LOT of people who believe the earth is flat. They come up with wacky experiments and ideas and think the round earth idea is a conspiracy. You can check out there discussions at http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum// Next time you fly, remember to tell the pilot to avoid the ice walls.

Everyone, please stop arguing.

While I respect everyone`s "opinion" on Science/Evidence and all that, I think we should respect everyone`s views. Having said that, I must let you know that it has been revealed to me personally that:

1. The earth is flat
2. The sun, moon and stars all rotate around the earth
3. The earth and everything in it was made for the sole purpose of man
4. Man, by the way, was made from a lump of clay
5. Woman, on the other hand, was made from one of Man`s ribs, surgically removed from his abdomen
6. All this was all created at the outset by the great unreachable, unknowable Sky Fairy

I`ve got proof, I read it in a book somewhere. And it is a reliable source, because it was written by lots of different scholars, all of whom were personally inspired by the Sky Fairy. Hold on, I`ve got it here somewhere...

As pul noted I was wrong, it wasn`t about economics. oops >.<
Made myself sound like an a$$ too.

Pretty embarrasing how people take this as an oppurtunity to potshot people`s religios beliefs though.

When irrelegious people start mocking religious people then they loose respect and are mocked in return. Gorram vicious cycle. When will people learn to say "Ok, that`s your belief. It may be ignorant, but one day you`ll learn" ?

-No, the people who wrote the bible actually thought it was flat. Everyone did back then.-

Actually they didnt, the round earth was a popular view amongst Arab peoples from around 300bc IIRC (also the Chinese IIRC), though possibly later, but before 1AD anyway.

This is apparently due to thier huge trade route, the silk road, the fact that they travelled over the horizon disproved the flat earth theory.

It was also apparently less common in europe than is made out though im not sure of that.

And lastly the alien race seedong our planet is a somewhat plausable explanation, it is already discussed by many scholars as a possible origin, though not in the manner I think you are implying.

lol at the end of the long version. It is not because the science was right to say the world is round that means science was right to say humans evolved from dinosaurs.

And i agree with the first part. You should be open-minded enough to acknowledge the possibility that God created something and used the laws of evolution (which he would have also created) to multiple the number of species that exists. And I like to add that there is still a possibility that God is in fact an alien race that seeded us on this planet. (I love science-fiction)

It`s a good thing this lady is on The View, because if she was on Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader, she`d fail out of school. I guess this is the kind of lady that Miss South Carolina was talking about when she said that people in the US don`t have maps...although, maybe we need to expand that, and just give out free globes.

I think there is more to the conversation, regardless of it being about economics, or not... the lead in that you might not see could have been something about do you beleiev everything you are told.. like people in the "past" did and those that set out to disprove theories like "the world is flat" is what makes us humans.....or am i making the view girls seem educated?

Goodness you people should read more :)

"The world is flat." by Thomas Friedman. It has to do with economics and the increasingly globalization of the world. That is what Woopi is refferring too.

Check it out, get informed. Sure the clip taken out of context is hilarious. But it gets old after it`s been done over and over and over again (and people fall for it again and again)...READ MORE.

Err, the thing is Oggle... generally the people who disagree with things like that do so without bothering to look into the science or math behind it. Somebody up and saying the world is flat based on nothing is just being a dumbass and supporting them doesn`t really help anyone.

Whoopie Goldberg pwns.

Oh and, I believe the world is round, since I have not been in space, and have not gone around the world, I accept someone if they believe otherwise.

I don`t call conspiracy theorists stupid. I call people who think conspiracy theorists stupid close-minded.

I support people who don`t believe everything they`re told is fact, whether I agree with them or not.
