Dude, there`s all kinds of other stories about this guy and those cops. I found one where it mentions him being beaten up by an off duty cop. Another where they violated his rights at a DWI check point. And yet another where they`re staking out his home. That cop in this video? Apparently he posted up a death threat on a police forum.

I hate that! Cops think they`re so important. Why don`t they actually go out and catch some f*cking criminals?! All they do is harass kids and homeless people, and they get paid for it! Cops are such douchebags. And for god`s sake, use Audacity to get rid of that popping noise >.< It nearly drove me crazy.

That cop was drating retarded. Basically saying "I`m the law, you can`t do poo about it and I can jail you for no reason"

The people who agree with the cop are even more drating retarded. Go slit your wrists.

That non-nice individual cop needs someone to put a boot up his ass--the faggot shouldn`t have ever been qualified to be a cop.. he was just pushing his weight around. Other then that, he is just one sissy of a so-called-cop

Strange.....that annoying clicking sound that everybody is complaining about is unmistakeable - It`s a clicking sound produced by the dash of a police cruiser with it`s lights flashing (akin to the clicking sound of a turn signal). This would not normally be so unusual except for the fact that it should not really be so audible outside the cruiser (especially to a camera that is not picking up good audio of the conversation).

Does anyone know how this story ends?

This happened in a municipality in the metropolitan area where I live. The officer has been suspended without pay and he`s being investigated now. The chief of police for that department is also being investigated for some other issues now too. It`s known to be a horrible area. They set up speed traps all the time and are generally non-nice individuals. I never go anywhere near that area. I don`t think the cop will keep his job after this.

But you know what the worst part of that whole thing was? He clearly only pulled us over to basically wave his rooster around. (Figuratively speaking haha). Because he actually could have gotten us for legitimate reasons. My friend had a broken tail light, and at the time we all only had our intermediate licenses (Canadian thing. Not sure if that`s in all the provinces yet) so therefore should not have even been out driving past midnight without a full-licensed person in the passenger seat. But being the useless policeman he was, he failed to catch or mention any of that, and simply decided to dlck with us and look through our groceries.
Which is why all three of us were basically filled with rage and bltched about it for hours later and to this day yell profanities when we drive by cops, mostly for our own amusement.

Ass face. I have only been pulled over once in my life, and I was a passenger at the time. I was with 2 friends and we had just gone through the drive through at Tim Hortons. My friend who was driving was pulling out the cupholder when she pulled out of the parking lot and the cops pulled us over because she swerved over the line a little. It was about 1:30 in the morning. The cop came to the window and acted like an ass the second he opened his mouth. He condescendingly asked her if she knew how to drive, and yelled at me to FIND IT when he asked if I had ID and I told him I wasn`t sure if I brought it. (He asked for my ID and that of my friend who was sitting in the back seat). He berated my friend about swerving on the road and basically treated her like dirt, and then asked what was in the plastic bag in the backseat like he was expecting us to have a bag of crack. (It was a grocery bag with... groceries in it). Then we he let us go, he followed us for about 5 minutes.

"The only reason to pull off and park is to roll a joint or make out with a chik and i seen no chik.Or waiting to buy drugs.Or breaking into cars etc."

Actually he was helping out his friend who was working after hours by picking him up. You sir are a goober and a not nice individual. Your attitude is despicable.

Also the cop lied about the kid committing a crime, he made it up and the investigation shows that.

"1) The kid is out looking for trouble, he seen the cop and pulled right in. I wouldn`t doubt the simple fact he knows that the lot he was going into was closed."

The commuter lots here in St. Louis are never closed. They are there so that anyone at any hour can pull in, park their car, and carpool, catch a bus, etc.

"2) The police officer started out VERY polite, and the kid was a smart ass little bastard as soon as he opened his mouth."

The kid asked if what he did wrong. It`s a perfectly legitimate and allowable question. The cop blew up on him after that.

"That kid was out filming looking for trouble and to cause a some poo. He pushed the cops buttons on purpose and knew exactly what he was doing, so the little non-nice individual deserves all of it."

Even if he was looking for trouble, that doesn`t give the cop a right to falsify charges or try to tamper with evidence, which is a felony.

Oh, and he`s not a kid. He`s 20.

if I have a problem I`d like to settle with him by getting out of my car. I just locked my doors and said sorry and drove off as soon as the light turned green, with him still yelling at me the whole time.
Scared the crap out of me. Though part of me wishes I had been ballsy enough to yell right back. There were people around and he had definitely been way more in the wrong, but the guy was huge and I was so scared that he was gonna kill me.

haha! he`s got the entire cop "package" a transmitter and a laser spotter. his tracking clicker is annoying... absolutely. that`s why i got rid of mine. best thing i ever did.

that poor cop, he`s dumb. i feel sorry for those who live with him.

thankfully the police encounters i`ve dealt with have been nothing but pleasant. i`ve been pulled over a total of 5 times. best part about it? i`ve been ticketed none of those 5 times. they were all speeding violations, some in excess of 15 mph. i call that lucky.

If a cop ever talked to me like that I`d get back into my car, lock the doors, and calmly tell him that I feel threatened by his presence and if he would please call a backup police officer I`d be more than happy to talk to the backup and to show them the lovely video I have in my car of him yelling at me and threatening to arrest me on bogus charges that he just made up because he was pissy. I`d probably call the local police department on my cell phone as well to inform them I was planning on making a formal complaint. I`d also make sure to write down his name and badge number.
Cops like that freak me out a little bit, because there is absolutely no telling what their need for power will make them do.

Suspection of suspicion! That`s what I told the deputies that shook me down all because the night before there really were meth heads running around in the Surfrider lot, Malibu CA. Still cars being broken into is not a reason for anything. That`s why he tried to AGREE upon the lack of signal. When I was searched he pulled my hurting fingers in a lock position downward then asked me what am I doing as I went downward. I said "sorry" and he said "sorry?". That was false agreement. I should have said "your right I am not sorry". Anyway theseillegal searches have to be done, its how they catch 90% of drug activity. The police need to be able to laugh it up though. But here`s the contradiction: its serious business. To doubt a policeman is the biggest insult. I will have a camera on my car very soon.

Why is it that people keep saying that the kid was obviously up to something just because he was out at 2am? Some people just work nights, you know, and the early AM is the only time they have to do anything.

I had a job like that and I got pulled over quite a few times for "looking suspicious". It got to be rather annoying. I never was pulled over by a cop like this, though. I can`t believe that the kid kept his cool so well. It`s hard when somebody is in your face like that to remain calm.

and yes, you usually do only hear about the bad ones.. but there shouldn`t be any instances like this one to be told about! ok, so the cop needs to stop taking his anger out on this kid and take it back home where it started..after the guy he busted last night with crack-cocain and took it home for his wife to get her fix..now she`s done pissed off b/c she`s out.. and the cops just pissed at this kid b/c he doesn`t have any crack for the cop to take home to his cracked out wife. "Officer douche bag, take it out on the source.. not the kid."

If it wasn`t for poeple like him, then we wouldn`t have proof of how some cops cross the line. and lying! the kid FOR SURE used his turn signals.. right then left to turn into the parking lot. and "littleronin", i agree with you somewhat.. yes cops are humans and do MAKE MISTAKES, but what this cop did, was NO mistake.

Does it appear to anyone else as though this cop is high? I lived in Missouri for four years; the meth capital of the world, and spent enough time around users to tell when a person is high. I wouldn`t put it past a cop who thinks he can invent reasons to arrest people clearly considers himself above the law. The guy sounds like a speedfreak to me.

I read about two pages worth of responses and failed to see anyone mention a couple facts about that video.

1) The kid is out looking for trouble, he seen the cop and pulled right in. I wouldn`t doubt the simple fact he knows that the lot he was going into was closed.

2) The police officer started out VERY polite, and the kid was a smart ass little bastard as soon as he opened his mouth.

That kid was out filming looking for trouble and to cause a some poo. He pushed the cops buttons on purpose and knew exactly what he was doing, so the little non-nice individual deserves all of it.

^Now your thinking. Too bad it turned out the cop was real.

Without the video, Darrow tells TheNewspaper that he would have stood no chance disproving the officer`s word in court. Twenty-eight percent of the St. George municipal budget comes from traffic citations. Darrow wonders how many of the tickets were legitimate.

I thought this was the most important part. Thanks Aboringstory.

i work with cops quite a bit (im a resident adviser in a freshman dorm) and whenever a kid get the idea that hes tough poo. we give the kid of a lot of poo. stare him down like no other, eventually they freak and do what we say. its part of being a cop...but then at the same time, ive seen the same cop preform cpr on a person who had lost consciousness and save his life. ive also sat in the front lobby for 2 hours and talked to him about just about anything.

long story short, just cuz a cop seems like an non-nice individual, doesnt mean he is. obviously this officer was trying to scare the guy into changing his attitude. cuz lets face it, the kid was dratin with the cop...at least in the beginning.

i dont think the cop was right in his approach at all...he definetly took it too far. but i think youre catching my drift

This police officer is a disgrace to not only to his fellow officers but, to the United States. The officer did have a right, as well as the obligation, to initiate the "stop" and to investigate due to the unusual behavior of the driver at such a late hour. Many intoxicated drivers often pull to the side of the road or parking lot when the effects of the drug of choice set in. The driver could have been ill or just tired and needed a rest from driving. The officers behavior was deplorable and contrary to basic procedure. The driver, under his states law required of to produce his license, proof of insurance and registration on demand while in operation or control a vehicle. Yes, he was observed driving so, it does apply. This brings up the age old question of who watches the watchers? This type of operation should be conducted under the over site of a proactive internal investigations and Q&A analysis .

So what if he was baiting? The cop shouldn`t have fallen for it. Stores hire "Mystery Shoppers" to check up on employees, so why should there be "mystery shoppers" for police as well. If anything, this officer proved that police need to be supervised in the field to make sure that they are not abusing their powers, and are respectful and curteous to the people that they deal with. Cops have the right to be firm and athorative if need be, but they never have the right to be baligerent to people.

After watching this, I almost want to put cameras in my car as well. Because, that is one thing that scares me. If ever I come across an officer like this and then have to go to court. How do I prove my word against his?

^^^You are an absolute idiot. He was going to be picked up by a friend, and he obviously WASN`T up to know good if even a cop who would be searching for ANY F*CKING THING to keep his job, couldn`t get ANYTHING! He had the video camara (because of him being assualted by a off-duty drunk cop in the past) and even when they tried to pin him with the scanner, HE HAD IT OFF!
I COMPLETELY agree with Darrow:

"Without the video, Darrow tells TheNewspaper that he would have stood no chance disproving the officer`s word in court. Twenty-eight percent of the St. George municipal budget comes from traffic citations. Darrow wonders how many of the tickets were legitimate."

It`s scary to think that a person who is supposed to represent the law can be so utterly unfair and unjust. I admire how prepaired Darrow was for this. It inspires me to do the same.

I AM THE COP in the video, and I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize for my behaviour. I had just finished snorting some coke I`d siezed earlier that night and was sitting in the car eating my 19th donut and thinking about what a pathetic lowlife loser I`d be without my badge, and how badge or no badge, an insecure bully is easy to spot, when this kid lawfully parked in a public space and since there were no small babies or single mothers around, I found myself in the position of having no-one to push around to compensate for my own failed marriage and 6-foot girth, except him. Now I admit some of the things I said, maybe at most 99% though, were completely false and not according to the law, but I AM the law. I wouldn`t have hassled him if he`d had a witness, and I`m sorry to see that my every word was recorded for a Misconduct hearing or a civil case to hear. I have learned my lesson and next time I throw my weight around I will check for video cameras.

Look, I hate all cops. I assume there`s some nice ones out there but I also assume they`re all at least slightly corrupt in some way. When I`m pulled over I`m the perfect citizen and don`t talk back but I still get poo from them. I don`t even get pulled over often at all.
But I know a lot of people with a lot of bad experiences, and I personally know cops who are corrupt as hell. I have come to the conclusion that even the nicest cops HAVE to be corrupt just to get by. Most cops are corrupt than not, so if any were even to try to be nice they would simply not be able to survive.
And lets say you do actually do something slightly wrong like go 48 MPH in a 45 MPH road. Know what the cop`s going to say? He`s gonna say you went 58 MPH. Every Time. That`s how they just plain work.
If you`re gonna go out there and think that every cop you meet is going to be nice and fair, you`re just asking to get preyed upon. Don`t trust cops. There`s not much you can do, but don`t let your gaurd

Nothing new. Police do this crap all the time. My bro got a DUI when the keys to the car were still in his g/f`s purse. In his report, the cop said the car was moving when he arrived because he saw the back lights come on. All my bro had done was press the "unlock" button on the key to get stuff out of the glove-box. Cops are not paid to know the law. If they knew the law, they`d be lawyers making a hell of a lot more money and not risking bodily injury. They`re only paid to intimidate and arrest people, leaving the law up to the judges and lawyers. It`s kind of like the saying, "shoot`em all...let God sort`em out."
The only cops that have any brains are not out driving around at 2:00am in black and whites. They`re too valuable on the force. They are all detectives looking for killers like cops SHOULD be doing. At 2:00am, the only cops you`re going to run into are young punks with something to prove, or washed-up a**holes who were passed up for promotion because

I can only imagine how many douchebag law-breakers that they encounter on a daily basis, but I guarantee its enough to upset them from time to time. I had a similar experience. I was driving down the highway to go visit a friend when I see a cop coming behind me pretty fast, now keep in mind I am following the rules of the road at this point, so I decided to change lanes to let him by. He follows me into the next lane and now my exit was approaching so I get into the very left lane to get read for my exit and again the cop follows me but this time he turns his lights on and pulls me over. He tells me I didn`t use my signals, interrogates me about what I was doing, where I was going, and who I was seeing as well as when I left my home. He then gives me a hap-hazard field test. Asks me to hold out my arms to see if I had any signs of drug use.

After it was all done I ended up with a ticket for speeding, and to top it off he wrote the ticket using my former licsense plate number.(I am a former resident of NJ and now live and use PA liscence plates.) Fun times. Shame I didn`t aheva camera so I could challenge the ticket.

All right, for the people generalizing all cops based on this guy, you are drating CRETINS. This cop needs to be locked away. The reason a video of him on the internet is because he`s a rare case. He does not speak for nor represent the general community of police officers. If you hate cops, it`s usually because you are either a criminal or you get off trying to show your basic knowledge of the law by one-upping a cop, and you get your ass handed to you. Get over yourselves.

redibly well.

On another note about respecting authority, I`m all for that. But part of what gives authority it`s power is that we choose to grant it that power (at least in the US). Part of the contract is that we have a right to defend ourselves against unreasonable use of that power. Again, drawing from my own past, if this situation were to have happened to me under the same circumstances (camera and all), I would have reacted in a similar fashion and probably even started laughing. Honestly, I can`t help but smile when authority figures attempt to abuse power and I know I`m in the clear. He should have let the cop arrest him for refusing to answer the questions. 20 bucks says he wouldn`t have been read his Miranda rights, and considering everything else, he would have been fine in court.

I can`t believe I just made an account for this site... Still, I occasionally feel the desire to comment. Usually someone else mentions my thought, so I never bothered to yet, but so far nobody`s considered something.

Plenty of people claim the kid was probably cop baiting, hence the camera.

If rifter has the right information, and "As far as Brett is concerned, he says he originally installed the cams because of a traffic ticket (running a red light) he got yet couldn`t prove he was innocent. He figured it was extra insurance against the tickets," then it`s not unreasonable to assume that the camera is always running (like Devi`s cameras).

So the camera doesn`t prove anything towards baiting. The only other reason people say points to baiting is that he pulls into a parking lot at 2 AM. I dunno about y`all, but personally, when I`ve had a bad day/night, I like to find a quiet place to stop and separate myself from it all. An empty parking lot at 2 AM does that job inc

For some reason when the cop was talking all I could think about was the way Dane Cook uses his voice when he makes fun of people.....
Similar, don`t you think?

Even if the guy was cop-baiting, the cop lost it. That is totally unacceptable and inexcusable behavior in any situation, even if the guy is TRYING to push his buttons.

Good thing he`s off duty now. Maybe now he can relax on a nice beach in Hawaii.

``YOU WANNA TRY ME !!?? MY EXPERIENCE AGAINST YOU`RE YOUNG ASS !!?? `` That made me go like... uuhhh... ok... ? Anyway, I think the officer must have been in a bad mood, anyway I hope he gets punished for his behavior.

^^Farva!!

That cop reminded me of something used to flush out a vagina. How is any self respecting, free thinking individual not going to fight back when threatened by that pile of rectal discharge? When someone in power tries to be a prick to me it just makes me want to strike back in some way. The kid knew his rights and the cop was obviously too used to being able to do whatever he wanted. If I ran that town that cop would have been lynched for his abuse of power. Make an example of these bad apples instead of giving them nice vacations when they act like bullies. Who knows, maybe we will start seeing some positive cop vids.. (don`t hold your breath)

Yeah, this is why modern society is screwed. The necessary evil of law enforcement will always be corrupt in one way or another. The police have a tough job to do, but some of them just need to lighten up. There are plenty of good cops out there that genuinely care, so don`t judge all cops by this jackass.

We have several commuter lots in the St Louis area. Most of them are relatively full even at 2 in the morning. St George cops are also notorious for being heavy-handed when doling out tickets and will find anything to pull you over. One mile over the speed limit? Instant ticket. Swerve to avoid hitting a pothole? Sobriety check. I avoid that area as much as possible.

The cop has been suspended without pay and his chief is extremely unhappy with him. Most likely, he will lose his job because if this incident. And the cop`s tape? It mysteriously disappeared.

As far as Brett is concerned, he says he originally installed the cams because of a traffic ticket (running a red light) he got yet couldn`t prove he was innocent. He figured it was extra insurance against the tickets.

Reminds me of "Super Troopers", except not funny. Sounds like this cop needs to go back to dispatcher.

TOU WANNA TRY MEH YOUNG BOY? This has been all over the news since it happened. That kind of behavior coming from a cop doesn`t suprise me anymore. The dude was probably baiting it too, Either way I still lol`d at the tape.

It sucks that there are cops out there like this because it gives such a bad image to the police force as a whole. Overall, Police are good, upstanding people who are there to protect us (you won`t hate them so much once you need to call for help), though there are obviously some individuals who are just rotten and corrupt. It`s a lot like the scandals in the Church. Catholics get a bad reputation because some priests abuse their power and position. Don`t judge a group by a few.

Both the kid and the cop are arses.

The Kid is definatly cop bateing, and also contradicting himself in his transcript (linked above) saying the scanner was off when we call all hear it on.

The cop was just an arse full stop.

Both go stright to jail and do not pass go!

Wow, I hate cops who do this. Dammit. Such douchebags. There are so many things involving cops that people don`t know and cops abuse that. I also hate older people who do that to. Like some random old guy that lectures some teens and his friends because they did something that person deems wrong. I hate it.

I have two vehicles. One of them is a custom 2005 GMC Denali. It has several cameras as well. They send 24 hour feed to my computer at home. If the vehicle is stolen I will be able to have a clear picture of who did it. I also have on star. I live in meth capital and stealing cars is their favorite thing to do. The kid does not have "issues" he is protecting his property and himself from drating cops like this non-nice individual.
I hope the kid sues.

This sucked in so many ways. First of all, that clicking was driving me nuts. Also, the cops voice was annoying. I thought maybe it was fake and one of his friends was pretending to be a cop because he sounded like a kid.

Teenagers suck anyway and not only should he have been arrested for listening to crappy music, he should learn to respect authority and not talk back to a police officer.

As someone who has dealt with cops (mom worked for police department) and who was an security policeman for the Air Force I can understand why sometimes an officer loses his cool. I don`t agree with it, but understand why it happens.

You guys just see the occasional tape showing bad behavior, I have almost been killed while trying to help someone with a disabled car, got clipped by a drunk driver and knew a officer who took a bullet so he wouldn`t have to shoot a kid.

On the flip side, I knew an officer who was dealing drugs while on duty (in jail know) and another who liked to get drunk and drive around on base knowing he wouldn`t get in trouble because he was related to the first shirt. Cops are human, and just like every other aspect of life you will find good and bad, the problem is you only hear about the bad, and/or remember the bad experiences with them.

Phin, the cop does have every right to check the kid out and the kid shouldn`t have talked back in the beginning, but after that it gets way out of hand. The cop never once asks the kid WHY he`s parked there, then later in the video he says "didn`t I ask you?" like the kid already lied to him about it. And he also talks about how it`s illegal for the kid to not answer his questions, and the kid says he has the right not to answer them, and he`s like "O REALLY? WE`LL SEE ABOUT THAT! I`ll take you to jail and show you how much I know more about it than you!"

Mar, you know the only reason he did that is so he could feel her up. That`s what cops are like.
I have a reasonable paranoia that all cops are perverted and corrupt. To think any less of them is to be naive and vulnerable. They may not all be like that, but you simply cannot trust them.

From what i heard on the news he is in trouble for telling the kid he could make anything up he wants and arrest him.But this is another punk out looking to make a tape he swerved off the road in front of the cop then parks,I thought he was going to hit the cop car,Then when the cop asks for id he tells him this is public parking i can park here. And everybody who is going to say different is lying but the only reason to pull off and park is to roll a joint or make out with a chik and i seen no chik.Or waiting to buy drugs.Or breaking into cars etc. But the cop was definatly overboard.

Alright I decided to listen to some more. They start to argue about how the cop says that if the kid doesn`t answer his questions, he`s "impeding the law." This cop claims he knows the law SOOOOO well but he doesn`t seem to even get the concept of free speech.
Nobody has to answer questions explaining anything even if they are commiting a crime. There is no law that says you have to admit to a crime if you did it. You can`t lie about it, but you don`t have to admit it either. You simply do not have to answer any questions.
If you`re driving you have to provide a lisence and do whatever the cop orders you to do, but you never, ever have to say anything you don`t agree with. And don`t forget they never, EVER have the right to search you unless they suspect a crime, and you never EVER have to consent to that search. You can refuse to let them in your car or pat you down. Good luck convincing the cop that though, they`ll put you in jail just for standing up for your rights.

that cop should be locked away. a friend of mine had a similar experience where a cop forced her down on the ground and handcuffed her because she couldn`t show him an i.d. because she only wore a swimsuit near the pool of an apartement block. i mean she just tried to explain what she did there and that she didn`t have her i.d. on her obviousely and she is a skinny girl of about 80pounds and the cop treated her like she was a serial killer...in her bikini...man such cops really make it hard for every other cop who tries to do his job with a little more brain...because people get really pissed of with such a behaviour

That clicking is way too f`cking annoying and you have to turn the sound up to hear anything. He starts off as an non-nice individual and then gets a lot nicer when he mentions he`s taping it.
It doesn`t matter how justified you are or how innocent, to cops you`re guilty before innocent and if you even hint that you think that you did nothing wrong they`ll punish you for it as hard as they can. The kid tries to explain his reasoning and the cop turns it into he`s "resisting arrest."
I didn`t watch to the end.
