Whoever planted the bomb messed up, it was to deep under the roadbed (something which the soldiers in those vehicles are glad of). The lack of noise is due to the ground muffling the sound wave. It also looks like the power of the explosion was fairly small (more than enough to kill, but in this case the road contained it, hence the bubble effect).

    @brutalnz: Shut up.

well the UN and the rest of the world did not approve so much what the U.S. did...so was it legal? i don`t know. i mean laws usually only refer to what happens within your country. as soon as you get out and ran rampage in another ones homeland you probably can no longer have this "legality" especially not if most of the rest of the world said you shouldn`t do it...

Bush was first elected in 2000. We didn`t liberate Iraq until 2003. For you to think that the world stays stagnant in 3 years shows that you (or your country) must live is some kind of bubble. In 2000, no one could`ve know terrorist would attack 1 year later.

The argument that no WMD`s were found in Iraq is ridiculous because it is hindsight analysis. If everyone could be omniscient and see into the future, there would never ever be any wars because everything bad would never happen as it would all be prevented before it happened.

In international politics, the country that ultimately determines legality and the course of things is usually the country with most power. If you feel passionate enough to start legislating other country`s actions, maybe you should lobby your country to expand it`s military and not spend so much money on handouts so that it can have more power to enforce it`s sense of what`s legal and what`s not.

^^ typical argument of a bully...i`m strong therefore i`m right...

1.you didn`t elect bush in 2000. the whole election was a fraud.in every recount bush was the loser.

2.once again for those not listening in the last row. 9/11 had NOTHING to do with iraq. see: iraq - afghanistan = two diffenrent countries. no one internationally told you off when you invaded afghanistan but iraq had absolutely nothing to do with it.

3.the evidence that iraq had no WMD was already known before the invasion. they only admitted it way after so yes the war is absolutely useless

There is no evidence that the election was fraud.

There is no evidence that Iraq had no WMD`s before the invasion.

If you make claims, you should back them up, or they`re bogus.

I didn`t say 9/11 had anything to do with Iraq. You`re barking up the wrong tree.

I didn`t say strength had anything to do with being right. You`re barking up the wrong tree again.

^^ ttsec, There is no evidence that Iraq had WMD`s period.

And as you said "If you make claims, you should back them up, or they`re bogus." but isn`t that what the US has done to get into Iraq in the first place? But you also said "The argument that no WMD`s were found in Iraq is ridiculous because it is hindsight analysis." so which is it? Was the US led `liberation`/invasion bogus or not, you can`t make up your mind.

"I didn`t say strength had anything to do with being right." yes you did, unless by "...the country that ultimately determines legality and the course of things is usually the country with most power... lobby your country to expand it`s military" you ment that expanding the military and having the most power has nothing to do with strength? um... they`re the same thing.

What your saying is the country with the most guns run the show, and it doesn`t matter how many other countries object, what they do is always right???

You seem to confuse legality and morality. Right and wrong is morality. Legal or illegal is legality. There are laws in my country that I oppose and think are wrong, but if I break the laws, what I`m doing is still illegal.
The evidence that led the U.S. congress and president into thinking that WMD`s existed in Iraq were later determined to be misinformation from the CIA. Those in the CIA responsible for this misinformation no longer work there anymore, obviously, because they messed up in their job. So, the evidence was bogus, but the belief was genuine. The belief was made upon evidence (bogus evidence nonetheless) and not made out of thin air. The claim that Bush intentionally lied is based on thin air.

I am not arguing for or against the invasion of Iraq. I was simply pointing illogic in baseless arguments made here against the invasion of Iraq. If someone arguing for the invasion of Iraq had such illogic and lack of evidence, I would point it out as well.

^^ if you are trying to be so precice with your wording then there is still the argument that "legality" can only refer to things that are within the boundaries of a legal system. as soon as you are outside of your country you are outside of your legal system all that backs up your "lagality" is your military power. at least this is what you are trying to say.

others would call it executing brute force which is not very civilized. you cannot hide behind your argument that it was a legally correct invasion when congress or whoever decided to invade. but so is every dictator legally correct within his own country if he decides to invade someone else because in his system he decided it with whatever procedure there is. but what does this help once your standing at the border of another legal system. i doubt that your invasion was "legal" on terms of the iraqi system. and since you are on their soil. their laws rule. at least that should be the case.

Traditionally, law is determined by those with power. For example, the U.S. was formed because we were unhappy with taxation laws, so we used military might to form our own nation and our own laws. Sadaam Hussein had laws we didn`t like, such as not allowing weapon inspections, torture, etc... So we went in to dispel his government and form our own laws. So, yes, law is determined by those who can enforce it, and that is the way of life. I am simpling stating a social/historical observation. I don`t know why you are arguing with me.

My personal opinion is that we have business being Iraq to save it`s people from Saddam Hussein and that Europeans should be thankful we have this policy, because it is this policy that saved Europe during both world wars.

I think the Europeans are jealous that we are paying the Iraqi`s more attention than them, kind of like the older sibling who becomes jealous when the younger sibling is born and given more attention.

No doubt you Americans are exploiting your military might whether you are right or wrong. I hate you because you initiate invasions based on forged evidence, disregarding what the international community says, you have a president who takes his inspiration from "god", and you still want revenge after 9/11, but are not quite sure who to take revenge on (oohh, the tewwowists). The good news is that I know I`m being irrational.

Why must anything like this turn into an argument. I think this video is amazing in the fact that people can see first hand just what kind of danger these soldiers are going through. Who really cares if the United States should be there or not, the fact is we are and arguing over it every chance we get probably wont ultimately bring a single soldier back.

Whether you believe in the war or not, believe in our soldiers.

    BUT

I am entirely sick of those non-US citizens who are 1) making broad generalizations about the American people based on the dysfunctional American government and 2) assuming they know what the individual American`s personal war sentiment is! You don`t live here. You don`t know.
AND (I`m not making very many friends with these arguements) Americans who claim that we`re being knights in shining armor by "saving Iraq" and "saving the world" can come down off their ego trips, get a reality check, and realize we suck just as much as any other country.

Put it simpley war is not a nice thing it must be the the last resort when all else fails. So the fact that the whole basis for America going to war with Iraq was wrong makes it seem like the US didnt do enough to ensure they were right, before they started a war that has killed so many people.

And yeah that explosion was mighty cool, close shave for those yanks.

The legality of a war is not decided by any one country, it`s laid down in the rules about just war set by the UN.

Also, China has a larger army than America, so if they disagreed with your laws, does that make it OK for them to invade America?

yellowsquare, if you don`t think the U.S. is the best country in the world, why don`t you move somewhere else?

If you don`t have any nationalism for your country, I hope you don`t have any voting power, because you wouldn`t be looking out for the best interests of the country and it`s citizens.

This goes for everyone by the way. If you don`t think your country`s the best, why live there, move out.

I used to live not-in-the-U.S., but in a much crappier country. I decided to move to the U.S., learn it`s customs and ways, and become a naturalized citizen because I believe the U.S. is the best country in the world. If the U.S. went to war with my former country, I would happily fight for the U.S.

China can invade the U.S. if they want. Or can they? They don`t really have a navy that can compete with the U.S., so they`ll have a hard time shipping their troops here.

Good video displaying the dangers of life in Iraq currently.

I`m not going to contribute to these pointless arguments, but I will say two things:

    1. No one should be saying anything about how America "sucks" just because of actions taken by the government. There is much more to this nation than the US-led invasion of Iraq (which, by the way, was supported directly by troops from over thirty nations).

    2. almightybob1: "Also, China has a larger army than America, so if they disagreed with your laws, does that make it OK for them to invade America?"

Numbers don`t mean strength. Just had to say that because if nothing else America really does have military superiority over every other nation. Not to say that justifies anything but still...

o wait i just remembered there is a little thing..called islamis radicals..there all over the middleeast and wait, why did we choose iraq..maybe it was saddam hussein.he was suspected of killing alot of people even though he was convicted of only executing 148 people. And maybe iraq didn`t have weapons of mass destruction they were planing on makin chemical agents and nukes. i think under saddam hussein they would have eventually done that.

    1. Invading Iraq was the right thing to do! God spoke to Dubya and told him so!
    2. Saddam was about to develop nukes!
    3. (my personal favourite) We invaded Iraq because of 9/11! That`ll teach the Iraqis for being involved!

Okay, I`m not going to get into the Iraq debate, because it`s pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain that it makes no difference any more. The fact is that they`re there, and it is amazingly dangerous for them.

So, as interesting and actually quite cool as that was, it`s very lucky the bomber(s) messed up, because roadside bombs like that are the number 1 killer of coalition troops - and I don`t think anyone here wants that to happen.

i just knew this was gonna a political debate. I like the way how everybody that doesn`t live in america, complains about stuff that has nothing to do with their countries. i know im probably gonna be grilled by one of you but eh... I`m still sticking with "Bring home the troops, bring home the war". That or just bomb the hell out of the whole country. I want everybody to watch when we do get out of there, how much poo is gonna go down. just thought i hadda say something.

marvinius, I know you want America wiped off the face of the Earth as the Iranians and NKs do, but you are very irrational.
We are not in it illegally, we are in it in times of war. I`m 95% positive we would pull out if it wasn`t for the oil, and you have to admit, that is a whole lot of oil.
If we left, Iran would annex Iraq and by-by how ever much oil their is in the middle east to all Nato and other U.S. allies.
As for FricknA, he does not know what he is talking about. This is a world affair and it is other peoples` business. The bomb was real, and if not, it is as close to real as real can get. I have a friend who just came out of the Spec. forces, and he has pictures of sh-t like this.

    WMDs-R-Bad,

Nice username. Agree that WMDs are most undeniably bad. Let`s not forget that the only country ever to have used a WMD in human history was the good `ol US of A.

I agree, we should support our troops (I`m British, our people are getting killed too). But that doesn`t mean we should just forgive and forget over the false reasons we all went in there in the first place.

I wonder if anyone ever thought of asking the guys in this very video whether they think going into Iraq was a bad idea? I think I can predict their answer...

We`re in very real danger of going into global recession, due to 1. spiralling oil prices because of 2. rising tension in the Middle East because of 3. the illegal (i.e. not ratified by the United Nations) invasion of Iraq because 4. George Wanker Bush (with the support of his neocon, get-out-of-jail-free cronies) decided to show daddy what a tough cowboy he was.

This affects us all globally. In a very bad way.

It baffles me how blindly accusing an entire country of injustice will really solve anything, except cause hate and malice towards one another. What is even more so exceptional about this, is that America is a country without a national race. We are made up of EVERY single country in the world, and I can GUARANTEE you that whatever country you are in, there is someone from that same nation in America, or, at least with that heritage. So how could you generalize American people as being incompetent? You would, at the same time be saying that the people from your own country are incompetent.

I honestly get the feeling that half of the so well-informed critics just think they know what the hell they are talking about, and are rather just bandwagoners.

War is wrong, however I think anyone would be hard pressed to demonstrate that their own "country" has never done a single wrong.

The idea of a country disgusts me anyway, we are all human beings. But, that`s a whole other di

First off, don`t be a dick about our troops. It`s either fight or face dishonorable discharge with a nice little prison sentence to go along with it. If you asked most of the soldiers out there if they still think the war is worth fighting most of them would say no, but since it`s now illegal for officers to openly disagree with an order from their commanding officer (the dumbass himself) you won`t hear them say a word. They`re not to blame, it`s the politicians. Has any of them lost anyone in the war? It`s not as these troops are any of their`s.
Second, to all you idiots out there who say that this war is about 911, please. If it really was a war on terror we`d be fighting 1500 miles east in Afghanistan, where Osama`s really hiding and Al Queda has strong political ties. The truth is that we don`t know what we`re fighting for. It was for the weapons, and when no weapons were found, then it was for freedom, but no one`s

God bless ALL troops in Iraq, no matter where they are from. Yes, our president has done some incredibly dull things but that is no reason to hate American citizens. We are not all the same, NASCAR watching, Gung-ho, Rednecks as we are often pictured. And the soldiers are, for the most part, just doing what they are ordered to. So before you fly off the handle with, "liek 0mg33 j00 U$ are t3h s0 gh3y!one11! g0 k1llz s0m1z 3l$ez!1elevnty11" Just look at all the people that share my opinion and oppose the war.

Question: Why do you all think it is wrong to help iraqis? It`s the most basic reason americans are there.

Pulling out will result in deaths rising back to saddam levels. You know, when the dude purged his own cities?

Second, thank the Lord the bomb didn`t hit them...but even if it did, it wouldn`t have done anything.

    A) they were in an abrams. We have yet to lose a SINGLE abrams tank since they were deployed. NOT A SINGLE DAMN ABRAMS TANK! Although there was that thing where the driver fell asleep and drove into the river...xD
    B) They were in an abrams. It`s got a huge shell of...ahem im not allowed to say it, but its very hard. The armor is made out of the same thing the some kinetic force shells are made out of, to give an example of how damn hard it is...+ ceramic tiles, + conventional armor plating stuffs.

See, 23scadu, this is where I lose your train of thought. Please can someone explain to me (I must`ve missed something in the news) the connection between 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq?

Last time I checked, Iraqis weren`t killing Americans until we invaded their country to uproot the WMDs which they were hiding. I just need you to help me make the link between 9/11 and the Iraq invasion. You`ve obviously solved it, but I thought the "Perp" was a certain O. B. Ladin, (still at large, somewhere in Pakistan/Afghanistan), about 1500 miles away.

As soon as someone explains to me why 9/11 is justification for invading Iraq, I promise I`ll shut up.

And BTW, just to short-circuit the anticipated flame-loaded replies, let me save you the bother by answering up-front

    1. "You don`t support the troops, therefore you`re a BAD MAN". I`m British, our guys are dying too. Of course I support our troops and want them to come home safe, and soon.
    2. "Saddam was a BAD MAN, we had to take him out". Yeah, so is Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Kim Jong-Il of North Korea etc etc etc. Why don`t we take them out while we`re at it? We didn`t go there to take Saddam out because he was a BAD MAN
    3. "You`re not American, it`s none of your business so STFU!". I refer you to point 1.
    4. "Don`t judge all Americans because of our President, he`s an idiot". I`m not judging all Americans at all, I`m shooting down anyone who supports Bush`s reasons for justifying the Iraq invasion, including his abuse of using the horrible events of 9/11 to justify the illegal invasion of Iraq, which many people seem to have bough

    1) That`s why the UK isn`t a world power anymore.
    2) Guess what? We don`t have enough people for robert mugabe or kim jong il!
    3) I refer you to point 1.
4)The reason was connection to the 9/11 attacks. If saddam had said he had no WMD, and had let in searchers, he would actually still be alive! We would of course have invaded anyway. I also refer you to number 1.

    Let`s compare, shall we?

davymid said: "1. "You don`t support the troops, therefore you`re a BAD MAN". I`m British, our guys are dying too. Of course I support our troops and want them to come home safe, and soon."

redflare said: "1) That`s why the UK isn`t a world power anymore."

Do YOU see a logical response? *I* don`t see a logical response!!

redflare, your argument FAILS MISERABLY. Please stop posting about this subject, you`re embarassing yourself.

redflare, no, I don`t think I know more than military men, though apparently you have it all worked out.

Here (posted 1 page ago by PFCofMarines, a US Marine tank crewman with a brother in Iraq), is what a true military man said about you:

"you piece of disgusting civilian trash."

I rest my case. I`m guessing you`re nearer the 13 end of the 13-17 age spectrum. Either that, or have some kind of special needs/learning difficulty. Either way, I will stop responding from here on to your inane comments, as it`s a bit like kicking a puppy.

    Good day sir.

I`m a soldier, and I`ve been there done that. (Dont believe me? Contact me and I`ll send you my credentials.)

Yes, its one of those "HOLY SH*T!" moments.

They were riding in an M1114 Up Armored HMMWV, and they muffle sound as it is, plus the road ate up alot of that too...

    I`m guessing a 155mm howitzer round.

God Bless America and all those that live in it. Were soldiers and do the things we do so people like all you haters dont have to do them. And we volunteer for it.

I`d like to take a moment to say that AMERICA IS NOT A DEMOCRACY all of you who don`t know that (particularly americans) are uneducated and ignorant.

For your information we are a constitutional republic.

It`s pretty funny, in Sweden, patriotism is a bad word. In America, unpatriotism is a bad word.

IMHO, patriotism has a tendency to make you blindly accept what your country does. A democracy thrives well when people are intelligent and critical of the ruling body. While it is not my intention to generalize, that Bush got the majority vote shows that the majority of the American people are not intelligent.

Yes, I am well aware of the fact that not everyone voted for Bush. And yes, many Americans are hypocrites. As davymid said, the only country which has actually used WMD is the USA.
