who ever made this had good niyyah, but this burquini is not good, its a little tight, i think tights, basket ball shorts, atheletic long sleeve top and a shirt is fine, thats what i wear.u guyz need to stop being so prejiduce. islam does NOT surpress women, you won`t believe how many muslim women you see in one day, they dnt wear hijab, i dnt wear hijab and if you were standin next to me, you would never kno i was a muslim. also in the quran males are supposed to me modest and cover their hair like us females, but men think they are too good to do so, so god will deal with them on judgement day...

why is everyone dealing with the extremes here? its like your either a complete racist pervert or sexist terrorist.
in my opinion, they look silly.
they just do.
its not a statement on the religion, im not saying that they all should go naked for my perverse entertainment.
im just sayin, they look silly.

To all you people being ignorant and racist:
How is expecting a woman to show off her body and wear skimpy bikinis, NOT sexist?
How is objectifying women by what they wear or how they look, NOT sexist?
Maybe you should look into your own culture first before criticizing others. Just because a country is powerful doesn`t mean all it`s ideals are right.
I do agree that the impositions on women are strict. But like people have pointed out, there are many restrictions on men too. I think it`s not just islam that is to blame... All religions were formed to impose restrictions on people and specially women. To say one is better than the other is very hypocritical.

That`s a good point about education, Beternal.

Millamopico (and many others, in so many words) said: "As it has been said before, these racist comments are really appalling."

Sorry, sounds like the real racists are those who, like yourself, willfully confuse race and religion; that`s tantamount to assuming all Islamists are Arab! Is that what you`re saying? Are they? No. Then we can condemn whatever religious claptrap we wish to without it making a racial statement, nor as pointed-out earlier, a cultural one; though I don`t feel we should be restrained from condemning any culture, including our own, nor required to accept and respect them all as `equal;` they`re not! How are you supposed to celebrate diversity when everyone is the same! Pick a side; you can`t have it both ways.

Male 2,586
I`m all for this *equal rights* thing... people can wear what they want, when they want. But if you`re raised from young to believe that covering up is how it should be then of course when you`re given an option, a choice- you`re still going to choose the conservative option

They look a bit over the top but that`s because I am used to bikinis. To a Muslim, bikinis probably look inappropriate.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and the ability to make their own choices.

The only way to solve all this is proper education. Not to ban religion or to make one dominant but to educate everyone in every belief - that way everyone has the full facts and can choose how they want to be under no external influence or pressure. This is the only way you can then say *I am doing what I want to do and how I think it should be done*

I think they`re great and I respect their values even if I don`t agree with them. I`m glad someone thought of something this helpful.
As it has been said before, these racist comments are really appalling. I`m not sure if most people here understand that being racist is not applicable with only blacks and Spanish- speaking countries.
For us, it may be considered sexist. For them, it may be a way of life, or even a choice.
This is a bit like if someone told you it`s stupid to wear a modest t- shirt because you don`t want to show too much skin. It`s more extreme them that, but it`s really the same context.
Go see a bit of the world and then try again.

You`ve never been to an Islamic country, apparently. B-|

My husband is Muslim (I`m not, but we work it out), and we visited his home country a few times. There are more bints in bikinis than there are fully-covered women in religious gear.

I assure you, its not what you think it`d be over there.

"But here in America people sure do treat the breast as `sex` organs even though they are not."

It`s not so much the breast that they treat as sex organs, but rather specifically the female nipple. On the beach, one can show as much of the breast as one likes (3/4) but heaven forbid should one not cover the nipple.

"it`s part of a culture, of which, like it or not, should be respected as the equal of any other."

It`s easy to confuse culture with religion because in modern times not many people feel the necessity to distinguish between the two. I`m aware I said otherwise in the past and I have erred, but long-standing religious tradition does not transmute into culture; it is still only religious tradition and as such, privy to our disrespect.

"alot of young muslim girls here have chosen to wear the burka."

It`s only a delusion of choice when such harsh consequences for not wearing a burqa are preached.

Respecting it is the absolute worst one can do. There is simply no good reason to respect the removal of freedom involved in controlling (whether directly or indirectly) one`s wardrobe.

mesmerise[To Tulip and Factoid, it`s to cover themselves so men don`t feel tempted, things like that. Men and their urges, you know.]

Then maybe the men in that society have some problems if they can`t watch women`s ARMS and LEGS without "temptations". I respect their lifestyle, even if I don`t understand it. I just want to live in a world where men and women are equal. In all sectors of everyday life.

Just because things like this aren`t commonly seen wherever you live, doesn`t mean it`s abnormal. People have different ways of living. At least respect that.

theres actually a female muslim lifesaver here [australia] who wears a similar swimsuit. I dont see this as offensive or funny at all; it`s someones choice and it`s part of a culture, of which, like it or not, should be respected as the equal of any other. and anyways, alot of young muslim girls here have chosen to wear the burka.

Any belief system or culture that dictates a society should not tolerate the visibility (in the case of the Muslim woman, hardly any visibility) of one`s body doesn`t have any merit as far as I am concerned.

Farquaadhnch, I`m not surprised your friend feels more comfortable wearing that atrocious thing by virtue of the fact that as a Muslim and how you are describing her, she was likely indoctrinated into believing any other form of dress is unacceptable to her family, society, and God (correct me if she did not grow up in the Middle East). She may have a choice now, but she didn`t have a choice as a child when religious tradition, merited or not, was piled onto her without any sincere regard for her well-being.

Wow, a lot of ignorance flying about here, isn`t there?

Religion is just a set of rules that one follows in hopes of ending up in a better afterlife (most religions anyway). You can, of course, ignore the rules and live your own way, but it won`t be impressing God and you won`t be getting a better afterlife.

Analogize this with an office environment or an interview. There`s a dress code one should follow. YOu can of course wear something else, but your boss won`t like it. No raise for you! Probably even get fired.

So YOU may not agree with the laws. But you should NEVER stop people from obeying the laws, coz it`s not your life being affected. Think, people (sadly something lacking in today`s society).

My friend is a devout Muslim and owns two of these. She chooses to wear them and she feels more comfortable in them than in a regular western piece of swim wear. The thing is that most people feel she doesn`t have a choice, but she lives here in Orlando FL. She does have a choice.

In other countries where it isn`t a choice, it isn`t ok, but don`t lump everyone under the same blanket of "it`s oppressive" or "it`s sexist" when some of this company`s patrons come from areas where they can choose.

If they are truly comfortable wearing that to go swimming and that is their preffered choice of swimwear, then it`s fine that they wear it. If they are being forced to wear this because they are afraid that something will happen to them otherwise, then no, it isn`t all right. I bet that many women would choose something more comfortable and accomadating for swiiming, but can`t wear it because of religion or law.

Male 404
I don`t think it`s just modesty. It is stupid, not because it`s different, but because if they don`t wear that they will get attacked and shunned.
Of course if they are doing it out of choice it`s fine, but many aren`t.
And the argument that we are ignorant because women need to wear tops here is stupid, it`s the law, we don`t really have a choice do we? Many people don`t mind nudity, so don`t call us ignorant because we didn`t choose to have that law around.
Lastly, one of the main reasons people wear swimsuits and bikinis is because it`s more comfortable to swim with the least clothes possible (though I will admit some people do it to show off, but in general it feels better to swim without all your clothes on, or at least in my opinion)

Wow. I can`t believe how ignorant so many of you are. Yes, it doesn`t look "normal" compared to the conventional looks. However, modesty is part of a lot of people`s beliefs (not just people who practice Islam).

Heaven forbid some people would rather buy this instead of buying a thong and a top that barely covers their breasts.

Eeeer,no. Not exactly at all. You don`t need a discovery special to tell you when the suit you put on looks like sh*t, you don`t need a discovery special to tell you that the dress you put on makes you look like a fat frump, and you don`t need a discovery special to know when a swimsuit looks like a f*cking joke.

To be honest, if you were going through a phase where it was fashionable to scream sexist every time a man has a restriction placed upon him, you`d be screaming about how the middle east was against men`s rights, not women.

The fact of the matter is, you don`t have a clue what is going on right in front of your face unless there`s a special on discovery channel about it.

Men need to cover from below their knees to above their naval.
Women need to cover twice as much.

Meanwhile in non sexist USA. Men cover their penis or else be arrested.... and women need to cover.... omg twice as much.

If sexism is about treating men and women differently, why is your culture less sexist? So the middle east is stricter, that`s not sexism.

Men aren`t allowed to wear gold, perfume, there are entire malls dedicated to women in the middle east, entire banks, all where men are not allowed to enter, women are entitled to keep all the money they inherit while men must give a portion of it to female family members, etc etc etc.

There are just different rules. The idea that it`s sexist against women is just because you don`t have a clue what rules there are for men.
