Crazy, my friend just sent me this like, two days ago. But it was the original, not the floating crap. The introduction is better. "I get hate mail from my love child" and all these funny opposing things.

Brilliant speech, he`s just a bit paranoid.

And by that I mean, it was all true, but the slighest bit over-exaggerated.
THIS is why we need to stop supporting rich, fat, bullpooters like Hillary Clinton and all of them.
The American people have gotten so sheepish and passive... and the sad part is, they don`t have to be.
Every time they sit in front of the good, ol` telly, and subject themselves to commercials, the media, and other crap, they become more and more blind to what`s around them, and put more and more thought to the hottest TV show, or the newest style of clothes.
I say the word "they" because it`s gotten so bad, I`m starting to declare myself independent of them.
And it really is bad... I`m starting to convince myself the only way to weasel out of it is to have a goddamned revolution take place.

It`s so bad, I`m gonna have to continue this in a second post :)

    As I was saying,
It`s so bad, many Americans, even the ones who think they`re patriotic... are convinced by media to think differently, and all of these bullcrap thoughts get stuffed subliminally into their heads..

It`s SOOOO bad, it could be the reason the Iraq war has lasted so long..

All of the liberal and democratic whining that has been taking place about the war for these past years, has been spawned by the media, that`s controlled by said `corporations`, (Large, greedy news corporations), who make more and more money the longer this war goes on.

And then, on the other side of the Earth, militia-men, rebels, and terrorists get morale boosts because they get to watch Western media, and every day, see talk of how bad the war is going, and how many American soldiers they`ve killed.

The Iraq war has lasted so long because they (there`s that word again) intend on sustaining it (for the money they make off playing both sides). It`ll be like Vietnam, except longer.

Great point Sarah, I saw Carlin live last year and he strayed away from most of his political ramblings and it was great. This stuff isn`t funny.

And good job to you too dingo. You hit the nail on the head. In this video they mostly lambasted conservatives, but you are right that the left controls the media and thats a huge advantage for them.

FDR passed a bill or law I think during WWII that discouraged negative press about the war. It kept heavy causalities and such out of the papers and radios. Sure it keeps people in the dark, but an army must have a line drawn somewhere between them and 300 million citizens breathing down their necks. Today`s global media destroyed that line via Vietnam. I know I`m correct in saying WWII would have been pretty unpopular if today`s media was reporting back then.

I don`t think its as bad as he says but it certainly isn`t good. Things do need to change and that`s why I`m watching Fred Thompson in 08, he looks like a perfect candidate.

This type of ant-capitalist nonsense infuriates me. People criminalizing and dehumanizing corporations, simply because they are the perceived authority figures is absurd.
Corporations are no more then extremely successful small businesses, which became successful through efficiently running things in order for us, the people, to buy their product. The people who run these corporations are no more sinister, but instead rose to the top generally by intelligence and affability, and they deserve every penny they earn.
These corporations provide millions of jobs for the world and are extremely essential to the global economy. Where the government intervenes more in the economy, the more the economy suffers.
Ex: capitalist Hong Kong, Communist China

I almost listened to you wtf, until you said:
"and they deserve every penny they earn. "

Sorry, making a buisness successful and big doesn`t mean anyone has the right to squander the money they "earn" from people on trivial things that in fact burden our society.
There`s a certain point where a person has made enough money for themselves to live comfortably as well as generations of family members, and they shouldn`t get any more money than that. The wealthy in this country make an absurd amount of completely extra income and rarely does it get put to good use.
They may provide jobs, such as all the billions of jobs Walmart provides! First, walmart starts buying products from china instead of america, then all those american workers who would have had those jobs are forced into much lower-paying jobs for walmart. So yeah, they provide jobs nobody in this country can live off of. That`s hardly anything good.
The government isn`t INTERVENING, it`s being

It may be preachy but it is the truth. Those naive enough to believe corporate America is a good thing are not a blue collar worker. Blue collar workers work more hours per year and take home less pay. The big thing now is employers paying less of the benefit cost to make their bottom line look better.

Education doesn`t help either just means you can start as manager at McDonalds. :P

He should run for president. I would vote for someone who tells it like it is. These ignorant Americans vote idiots in office that are simply looking after their oil interest buddies and costing American lives. Anyone that cannot open their eyes and see the truth after 7 years of this crap obviously has to be an American Idiot. I am not saying Democrats are better, we need someone not already paid off and corrupted by politics in office. All of the political positions need to be replaced so a new president could have some hope of accomplishing something for the American people and not just the people bribing to get what they want.

Meh, George Carlin is just a pussy. The only reason he`s given any attention at all is that the average viewer is a thousand times more pussy than him, so that he looks brave and intelligent only by negative comparison. So he`s an *opportunist* pussy. There`s nothing actually good about that. Whenever I see him I have an urge to just flick my finger at him, for the speck of whining crap that he really is.

He`s got one thing wrong though. Social security isn`t retirement money. Part of the problem is that people treat it that way. It`s just there to make sure that after you retire, you can atleast have a room and food and not die in the streets, not a vacation to the galapagos or a huge house. You`re supposed to save up for that stuff on your own. Putting away money for retirement and social security are two different things

there is a lot of truth to this speech, although i dont really take to his anger. the US, along with the rest of north america and europe, is at the peak of a period of consumerism which started in the late 1800s, but really picked up speed after the second world war. it has nothing to do with george bush or his policies. this corporate control is unbounded by any party line. even the exhaltedly pure barack obama free from this evil. but things will change in time. we cant change the government, who you vote for doesnt matter. the only thng that needs to change is the consumer. once he stops thinking "i want...i want...i want..." and starts thinking about his fellow human, everything will change.

I hate it when you people start preaching about the evils of corporations and praise that working class. You say people who work in Wal-Mart get paid less, but that`s because their work is worth less (not worthless). These people who are CEOs or powerful Stock market figures, they`ve earned their lifestyle, by making a bold decision, working their way up buisness chain, or making a smart move. They didn`t steal the money they have, they worked hard, a concept most people are unable to grasp. Just because they use their minds to work instead of their bodies doesn`t mean it isn`t "work" in the figurative sense. And what`s with this whole "the rich have power" propaganda? The politicians don`t care about money, they care about votes. votes that everyone, lower, middle, and upperclass all have equall access to. The Corporations are not the source of problems in America, on the contrary, they are examples of free-trade triumphant. so don`t condemn them, try to be as succ

try to be as successful as they are. These anti-capatalism speeches are in favor of a communistic system called wealth redistribution, which only would lead to disaster and nation-wide poverty. If you should be wary of anything, it should be the unions, groups of people who have a massive amount of what politicians really want-votes. They are the kind of people who would support this hate-speech, who want you to believe that CEOs, people with only one vote to their names, are the real enemy. Don`t just bite into something a comedian, or a radio host, or a newspaper reporter says, don`t just bite into what I saya. Do your own research.

And one last thing, corporations and the media are two very seperate things, don`t let anyone tell you otherwise. Not all Media is bad, but you should never use one or two sources, or just listen to sources that agree with your first belief. You are an individual, start acting like it.

Oh.. they get paid off by all these coperations or interest groups so they will sway their way on the issues.. or in Bushes case cause a golbal situation that will put millions of dollars in your pocket, and billions in the pockets of the people paying him off. And since when did billy bob becomeing a ceo because hi daddy was a ceo become hard work ??? It isn`t.. I want you to name one person in the last 15 years that is a multibillionare that isnt an actor or singer, or other such skilled trade, that has climbed the latter to make their wealth.. While they may be out there.. you probably can`t find them. The rich are all just a bunch of Paris Hiltons, rich and dumb as rocks because their family struck it rich, be it by work or luck.

sahraofgordon said "The wealthy in this country make an absurd amount of completely extra income and rarely does it get put to good use."
This is not true, the u.s`s corporations and citizens give far more to Africa or most other charitable causes then any other country. The people who are wealthy are for the most part not evil but kind, charitable, and charismatic. Government restriction of corporations would not only wreck our economy, ruin the lives and jobs of both the rich and poor, but also take away the major contributors to these charities.
As for walmart, if they paid their employees ridiculous sums for menial tasks they would be forced to downsize tremendously, stripping thousands of their lively-hood. Also, walmart would be forced to charge more for their goods which would be a big blow to the poor and middle class everywhere.

It`s not so much the obscene amounts of money these corporations make that bothers me, it`s who they`re giving it to that bothers me.

Alright, let`s look at this from the perspective of a CEO. If anyone is smart enough to get where they are, they know that they won`t benefit from keeping the "common man" down. There is a near endless supply of labor force, and nothing will change that anytime soon, so they don`t have to worry about keeping the school systems crappy, that`s just public education for you. We already know that they pay the majority of income taxes, so they clearly don`t have any hand in that. And no politician would suddenly change their ideas after they got elected, that would destroy both the politicians chance of reelection, AND the house`s honesty base. The system isn`t as broken as most people think. average income is up, stocks are up, employment is up manufacturing is up government revenue is up, povery is down. We have an economic growth rate of about 3.6% right about now (that`s alot for those of you who don`t pay attention to economics).

That`s the bad part about it. People are going to keep repeating the same sh*t over and over again, but it doesn`t matter because the future generation is in a state of apathy and the older generation is too set in their ways to do a damn thing about it.

if you want to make better politician, cutting their pay isn`t the way to go. Apparently even people who throw the word "lobbyist" around more than a football don`t know what it means. lobby groups don`t go to a politician and give them money to change their posistion on something, they give money to the politition they want to win to bolster their campaign. money follows the politicians, not the other way around.

Those who speak up about love, unity, solidarity and mutual respect oddly enough get killed.
    We kill those people.

As he says, it`s not going to change either, people are too complacant, too enamoured by their television set.

We`ve become decadent to such a degree that as a species, we`re no longer viable.

maybe you people aren`t getting it. No politician would change their views after election because a company payed them to do it. That would destroy that politician and his political party. And even if some crazy house dcided to go mad with power, there`s this little thing called checks and balances, something that prevents the president from being the king most people think he is.

And provided some CEO has managed to bribe the President and half the senate, AND half the house of representatives, something That would cost much, much, MUCH more trouble than it was worth, there still this handy dandy ting called the constitution, something absolutely no one can override. I`m not saying the country is perfect, but if you want a true utopian society, attacking capatalism is not the way to go. Maybe introducing a voucher school system, killing bad government programs like the NEA, social security, IRS, and welfare, in favor of more enforced systems that don`t reward laziness and punish hard work.

Belive him! It`s not "just" America, it`s happening here in the UK too.
Let me put it to you this way, I`ve been put out of work twice in the past 15 years, due to the company i worked for moving jobs abroad. Cheaper labour and bigger profits for the company..but sho gained from the profits? The top dogs. the last company I worked for cut back 2000 (to move to china) jobs to save £12 million a year. The board of directors then gave themselves a huge payrise (14 people in total) of 1/2 a mill each!
now we have companys like British Airways, price fixing, litterally laughing at a £300 mill fine, then getting a legal go ahead to have anyone who protests against a new runway, arrested.
Am I bitter..You bet I am. this is becoming very common..the companys are starting to run the show. Dont think a politician isnt in the back pocket of one firm or another. Just remember who funded them to get where they are.

I hardly consider a conspiracy speech slandering corporations and the common man. and don`t suddenly go all "yeah, The rest of America isn`t trying to earn their freedom" well he`s talking about you, and your friend, and your grandma, he`s saying that you are sitting on your ass doing nothing. I`m going to pretend that since you`re reading this you have a well paying job, and you work hard every day to earn your keep so you can have a roof over your head and food on your plate, and if you`re younger than I think then you`re probably working hard at school so that one day you can start your career and start your own family, and this guys saying you`re lying down and takingwhatever these "evil crporations" are throwing at you? No, you`re working hard, and if you have any sense at all you`ll know that you have more important things to do than worry about some whack-job comedian who thinks he`s better than you`s conspiracy theories about anti-capitalism.

Idiotkiller, you should get rid of the "killer" part of your name... Unless you`re going to kill yourself.

You obviously have not been watching these past, oh, ten or so years at the very least. George Bush and his WHOLE ADMINISTRATION (not just using him as the scapegoat) have SHAT all OVER the Constitution! DIdn`t you know there was a bill passed just a few months ago that completely took away your right to habeus corpus??? Yes, that means they can throw you in jail for whatever reason, and never give you a trial or even tell you what you are charged with. Gee, the French King had something like that, prior to the Revolution, called "carte blanche", and it means "GET WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT BECAUSE I CAN!"

Christ, people! The corporations aren`t the happy face of Walmart all the time! Wake up! THE MEDIA IS RUN BY A TOTAL OF ABOUT FIVE CORPORATIONS. They go where the money goes, or where the public surveys say the money will go...

And so, we end up with a media that ultimately tends to support anything and everything that other corporations puts out there, because they PAY THEM WELL ENOUGH.

Also, anybody saying politicians work for votes, not money, let me break it down real simple for ya:

    MONEY = VOTES

You know why there`s laws making it necessary for a poor man to get some little chunk of the voters` money to run for office??? Because some honest politicians back in the day realized that the more money you have to spread your face around, and petition, and get your name out there, the more votes you ultimately get.

    NO MONEY = NO VOTES

There, you idiots should get it now.

George Carlin is totally right in this speech. We are all sheep, and even enraged as I am now, I feel totally ashamed that I`m not doing more about it.

No more than a few decades ago, a mindless war broke out simply because we didn`t like another country`s economic system-

(which, China`s isn`t in meltdown or anything, by the way, it just needs work, but so does ours) and our parents and our grandparents stood up and said something! We sit placidly by.

Let me tell you, religion is no longer the opiate of the masses. POP CULTURE is.

We will agree to anything as long as we can have our pizza delivered to our door (within 30 minutes or else we don`t pay, dammit) and our remote or video game controller in our hands.

We SHOULD be speaking out! Yes, stupid internet forums are the place to begin. They`re like the college coffee shops that our parents went to. Next, comes small lectures, talking about things that skirt around and hint at the real issues. Then come the megaphones, the protests, the FRIGGIN REVOLUTION.

OUR SYSTEM DOESN`T WORK, AND WE ARE THE ONES WHO CAN FIX IT.

I don`t ever want the novel 1984 to come true, and yet, I already see groupthink, and brainwashing...

The truth is that the baby boom generation created such a mess with their “I want” mentality that it has spawn horrendous government spending that so many now are conditioned to depend on. The more you depend on these governments given “necessities” like social security, medicare, and government (public) schools the more of a pawn of the government you will be. He has it right however it’s not the CEO’s that are the problem it’s the “give me” mentality funded by the government (mostly liberal but now conservative politicians as well) that has dug our society in this hole. If you want to be free make sure you do not depend on the government for anything.

Sunny, you`re missing the point, politicians aren`t alone, they belong to a party, and that party has rules. He will always have supporters and money, and I think you may be over-exagerating the link between money and votes. Maybe in your stupid, anti-media little world where no one does there own research and actually listens to those political comercials, and if you do actually do this, you should be ashamed. You don`t like the media? well then don`t watch it. And by the way, what George Carlin is doing here. You don`t like bush, don`t vote for him, but he must have don`e something right, because he got more than half the votes of the electoral collage. And of course you have no proof that corporations are adjusting the media to their "advantage", but provided you did find some, there still arguement against that. You don`t like fox news? don`t watch it. watch some happy cartoon show where everything is right and fun, or watch some dumbass comedian try to act important.

Yeah, idiotkiller, my point was exactly that: I *don`t* listen to the media. I find as many things to read on a subject as I can, from as many viewpoints as possible, and then I make up my own mind about it. I do believe that that`s called research. You act like I`m propagating somebody else`s opinion, and I`m not. I`m spreading the word that I really do think that we need to act out more, if we disagree with what`s going on. And what about the issues I did bring up other than the (yes, it was rather oversimplified for the idiots, as I stated clearly) MONEY = VOTES issue. You didn`t actually respond to anything I said, Idiot, you just criticized and harrassed me for my opinion. I haven`t seena political commercial since high school, where they MADE us watch the different parties` commercials in order to analyze them.

Oh, and btw, everybody who has posted on here, including you, is trying to act important like their viewpoint matters. George Carlin can just get on TV with it.

I`d like to say I`ve been thinking what George Carlin is preaching for a long time...
But as for people not doing something about it..what exactly can you do? unless your succesful and make money your screwed. Think about it. You need financial backing to be a politician, so you either do it all off your own back and risk everything or you end up on someones payroll, like it or not, and lets be honest...your average family man isnt going to risk everything!

As the "man on the street" I simply voice my concern`s, protest against injustice and stand my ground.
