Everyone has an amazing talent.

....probably about 2% of the human population have discovered it.

I know I haven`t.

Those sculptures were amazing. Its strange to think that if we couldn`t talk, we could do things like that.

wow another reason not to go to school and it was said by scientists !

`scientists think that all humans have this talent but it has been overlayed by other things like language`

We have a lot of stuff on savants... I`m surprised I`m not sick of it yet. It really is interesting to see how many odd but amazing things can come out of autistic cases and certain damages to the brain.

"We are incredibly stupid compared to what we should be able to do/know!"
thats not necessarily true. yes, this man has extraordinary artistic ability, but he cant read, write, or calculate. his right brain hemisphere was only compensating because his left was damaged. who knows how great a mathematician he could have been, or how "normal" he might have been.

when she talks about the putty he is smiling to himself in the background ;)

its so odd that an injury can trigger this type of reaction in a person...robbing them of their social skills, but compelling them to create beautiful works of art or perform phenomenal computations.

My father-in-law is the administrator at a home for people with mental disabilities. One of the residents is a savant, he knows -everything- about baseball. His mind just stores all of that knowledge and he`s so interesting to talk to.

What he can do is amazing, but tinged with sadness at the same time. His brain can only function in one way, but very well. He can`t function in normal society, but he can do one thing over and over, very, very, well.

I don`t really think it counts as a skill if his brain is pretty much forcing him to sculpt. But I really want to say...HE HAS GOT SOME MAD SKILLZ!

I wonder how much money he makes off of selling those :O.

Really, imaging a interface link between a human head and a computer, allowance for a `mold` as it exists in his head to be instantly transfered into the computer as a new image, fully polyed and perhaps even fully textured.

Savants are absolutely fascinating. I really wish there was more information about them out there. The brain is truly astounding. I would love to study savantism, autism, synaesthesia, etc.

We can all do all sorts of crazy things... we just don`t train ourselves to do it. Humans have the ability to read something like 900 lines of text a minute, we just don`t because we don`t know how to train ourselves to do that. Although it is slightly comforting to know that we haven`t reached the end of our genius and that the future won`t be like the present.

Alonzo is pretty cool, but that nurse chick kind of creeps me out. Seems like Alonzo likes her, though. >.<

It really is weird that his people sculptures aren`t as good. I think I heard somewhere that human facial recognition and that stuff is in a different part of the brain.

Imagine every thing that the brain CAN do, fit in one brain, one person that can do everything - Now that`s intelligence. We are incredibly stupid compared to what we should be able to do/know!
