I found this to be relatively accurate.

I call it "pop," and I live in the Midwest.
Notice most of the people saying pop have Midwest US under their name?

Ummmm... wow. What a big conversation about soda vs. pop. I mean, most religious or political subjects don`t attract this much attention! :)

And my opinion? Neither. I speak finnish and I don`t drink those teeth rotting, brain sugaring bastards. Just wanted to point out the obvious.

my mom calls it sodapop.. i used to call it soda but win i quit drinking soda alot of people would offer me stuf like sprite thinking that wasnt counted as soda. because of that i started calling it carbonated beverages because so many people would offer me things like fruity flavored fanta sodas and the clear sodas.

I love how much of a jumbled mess Florida is. All those annoying New Englanders coming down with their "soda" propaganda films and support of the Patriots. It`s coke, even if its pepsi (which is better by the way) it`s still called coke. Now stuff like Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew I`ll call Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew. But Pepsi or Coke is just Coke. A wild black cherry pepsi? That`s a cherry coke.

My Texan grandparents are always like, "Would you like a coke?" And I`m like, "Well, I`d rather have a Dr. Pepper, but..." And they just stare at me and are like "Yeah..." Then it takes me ten minutes to figure out what the hell that was about.

It`s soda. An easy way to look at this is that, overall, in areas that matter most soda has dominion. Soda also makes the most sense by definition.

"thank you, people in the south arent idiots, we order the name of the drink when we`re at restaurants... but sometimes you dont know if they serve coke products or pepsi products, thats when you call it a coke"

Thats how it is here too. I always just ask for a coke and then they say Pepsi alright? and then im like yeah.

LOL this one time they asked me what I wanted and I was like

"Pepsi"
"Pepsi alright?"
"ummm yea...."

Cause they are so used to people asking for Coke.
usually the conversation goes like this: "i want a coke" "pepsi alright?" "yeah"

I call it soda, but my favorite is coke so i usually say `can i have a coke` everytime. whether it`s really a coke or a pepsi they bring me i don`t really care, but i wouldn`t call a mountain dew a coke. which made me literally laught out loud tjames hehe.

Apparently not US - only if people from Canada, and other countries are arguing about it.

Anyways, I call it soda. I always wondered how people(like waitresses or whatever) would get a customers order right since they apparently say "Coke" for everything. I mean how the drat would the person taking their order know what kind of soda they actually wanted?

But there are people who call pop "Coke" regardless of the type? That`s bizzare, marketing must love them!
