I`m the calss of 10 but not for university. Also, Number 36, never mailed anything with a stamp, is totally not true for a lot of people, I personally love getting a letter, it sure as hell beats getting an email.

And number 13, the one about faux fur, is terribly ugly, in my opinion anyway. Well I guess it is true for "high fashion" or whatever.

And I had no clue Sara Lee made underwear...

What I get from the link is, it is true you may not have been exposed to the experiences my generation has ( it was fun). You will be exposed to experiences I will not live long enough to see. The same will be true for your children and grandchildren. Enjoy life!

this is only one persons(maybe a small group of peopls) opinion of how people of that age see the world. its just old people way of saying how things were better win they were young. some of that might be true but i think generalizing a hole age group based on what the writer remembers is dumb. they wont have lived during the cold war but that doesnt mean they wont see major world events hat happen in ther life time. maybe right now they have only knows 2 us presidents but by the time they graduate we will have a new one. i feal like my grandfather came back from the dead and treated me to a "in my day" story.

I`m gonna try this one last time then just go cry myself to sleep because nobody in my generation seems to have reading comprehension beyond that of a retarded tortoise.

This document is not for anyone within the 13-17 age group. It is for people finishing their undergraduate work in college in 2010.

Hell im class of 2013 and i know the USSR existed. I know that Google wasn`t always a verb. I know all that information. It`s not like they are hiding the past. Maybe a couple idiots didn`t know about the USSR, but those peoples parents probably didn`t know it existed either. I hate these generalization things especially when they are completely wrong.

Yeah and to the people in high school who keep saying "WOOT 2010." This isn`t meant to imply you.
This is college.Hence `Beloit College.`
Just to say

Just because it didn`t happen in my life time doesn`t mean I`m ignorant enough to think these things.....

There`s a better way to word this whole thing...

The article is not saying people never studied history. It`s more that they have not experenced it. Sams goes for anything else on the list.

The overview allows says that it is in fact generalizing. Such as the licence plate game, its saying that most long travels are made by airplane.

This is for the graduating class of `10 in college!

I think this generally applies to teens who grew up in the nineties and so missed all the stuff before hand. We can`t really help this though. And common sense tells us that what we have hasn`t always been around.

Speaking as someone in the Undergraduate class of 2009/2010 (5 semester program, and my graduation time depends on how many summer courses I take in the near future), that list was pretty understandable. It`s only a matter of how well you pay attention to history class and pop culture.

The only one that I didn`t get was #9, the one about the stained blue dress and the third rate burglary. I know the third rate burglary is a reference to Watergate (which almost led to Nixon`s impeachment), but the blue dress confuses me a bit. Does it have anything to do with Monica Lewinski (which led to Clinton`s attempted impeachment)?

PeproniPizza, you shouldn`t ASSUME that you are going to live longer. You sound like my 8-11 year old neighbors who say "You may be older but you will die sooner" as if everyone lived for the same amount of time. The difference is 5-8 years, that`s not that long in the large scheme of things.

I`m in the class of 2010. I will be graduating then. Don`t feel sorry for me because ill never get to experience some stuff, because i know that you will be older than me, therefore die sooner, and ill get to experience newer and more high tech things than you could ever imagine... so ha. I`m not a retard. I DO take history. its not like we like we learn up to the year 1960 and then just stop.Never assume. a**holes (also ill live longer with medical discoveries and breakthroughs and all that in the medical industry)

"This is not condescending.
It`s saying that for people born in 1991/92 have never "known" a divided Germany, a Soviet Union, etc. because the things on the list have always been so since they were born.

For someone, say, 10 or more years older, who remember life differently, the list puts the events of the last 15-20 years more into perspective."

manorrd, so what u saying is that class of 2010 wont be studing world history AT ALL?!?!? yeah there r things that they wont know anything about bcuz they didnt lived in the time they happened, but some of them i think supposed to be taught in school just like we learned about first world war and other things that didnt happened when we were born...
