They`re just looking for a challenge. So they try finding holes in applications and ways to do things with it that it`s not meant to do. Most hacks are completely harmless, like hacks you`ll find in the source code of webpages you visit every day.
To them it means just as much as any other guy showing off with his sports car.
Cracking is doing the same thing for personal game. CRACKING is illegal.
If there are Black Hats there, then doesn`t that mean there are criminals there? Black Hats, by definition, are illegal hackers.
Ok seriously she just went for it. Hence deserved it.
And to all idiots that keep saying these guys are all criminals: sorry for repeating, but you are indeed idiots. Find out what a programmer is before bashing!
Anyway, we can play the "definition" game, but I think everyone knows that hacking is illegal.
I think it was both sad and funny the way they followed her out to her car. I`m not so sure it really accomplished anything though.
Ehh, I feel like someone owes me the last 15 or so minutes of my life back for taking part in this post.
Ever been to defcon? Coyotes are more attractive.
They all sounded like a bunch of nerds[/quote]They said that Lindsey Lohan was smart compared to the reporter
I don`t know about you, but I wouldn`t spend hours upon hours finding a vulnerability that has yet to be solved, code an exploit script, and gain access to someone`s computer JUST to get a simple credit card number when most dumbf***s are more than happy to hand that kind of crap away to phishers.
DEFCON isn`t full of evil, law-breaking hackers, either. Of course, none of this matters. The only thing that matters to the news is ratings. To be honest, I wish they would do this story. It would be much better than stories of that damn bridge or Princess Di.
People always screw with reporters and try to make their job a living nightmare but I bet if you put any of these morons into her shoes they couldn`t get a decent story if their life depended on it.
She got what she deserved, simple."
Do you suppose the people that hackers hack know their being hacked? Do you think Hackers get a "hacker card" before checking into your computer?
She got what she deserved, simple.
What`s that "Hackers" event anyway?
Gonna google it later I need to go buy some milk.
She was attractive.
Says the guy with the ATHF icon.
but it`s pretty funny though.
With what I was reading from the comments, it`s like y`all just saw someone get beaten to a bloody pulp.
And yes, they could get in trouble for harrassing her, especially since they got derogatory.
Wouldn`t be surprised if NBC got on their butts about it...
nice comment there, dumbass, what about this makes you say that, all they were doing was following her around like she would follow anyone else for a story, i`m glad she didn`t tell any of them off, because that would have made her a HUGE hypocrite, i think she handled the situation fairly well.
and to every who says they seem nerdy, it`s probably because they are, DEFCON is a hacker convention... who do you expect to be there?
Makes me happy to see a reporter get a smack in the face like that.
1. Google it.
2. At Defcon, they have a game "Spot the Fed". You get a t-shirt for spotting one. I doubt an NBC reporter has any chance of going unnoticed. :P
They all sounded like a bunch of nerds
#1 - What the f*** is defcon?
#2 - How did they know it was her?
she looked pretty though
