What do you mean no one uses CDs anymore? I still use them. CDs, tapes and even records.
But not Mp3 players. I`m too cheap to buy one.

COMPANIES SHOULDN`T ASSUME PEOPLE HAVE OR USE COMMON SENSE...

SHOULD HAVE A LABEL THAT SAYS..

"NOT RECOMMENDED THAT IDIOTS USE THIS DEVICE"

You must have a really bad cd deck in your car if it skips easily. I got mine a long ass time ago and it never skips, even going over bumps.

you really can`t put a cd player in your pocket most of the time, right? Unless you have like...gangster pockets and I know most of you people aren`t gangsters.

-------------------------------------------------That`s what I was thinking, I just tried and I can`t fit my CD player in my pocket! And when the hell did everyone stop using CD`s??? I still listeen to them...hell I still have tapes....oh poo, I still have records....and no I don`t have 8 tracks. I`m not that old...and yes I have an ipod and I regret ever buying that piece of poo!

all you gotta do is attach spikes to a cd and play it in there, and you hav a portable decapitater.

I love CDs...because my gay MP3 player won`t PLAY MP3s. I wasted a dollar buying an MP3 on iTunes and it didn`t even work...So I love CDs so much more than MP3s. You get awesome posters with CDs too...But that CD player doesn`t look safe...

Also Tonby, That article is 2 years old:
"MP3 players are expensive", Yeah, right...
"Why bother with the hassle of encoding, transferring and managing files which is troublesome, time consuming and more demanding when you can just simply pop in a new CD and get instant gratification.";Is it so hard to click "rip" ? o.0

"Lastly, you don`t have to face headache of incompatibility issue as some players can play only specific file format."
This is pretty much nulled by the fact that microsoft started the "plays4sure" program for complete idiots who can`t pick an mp3 player...

um...
its not gonna be dangerous..
it probably has a safety for if the cd gets touched during playback
also, thats probably fake

Tony, That is incorrect, Lossless formats such as CDA and FLAC (Both of which play on the creative Zen by the way) Make Perfect copies (CDA is a bit-for-bit replica of the CD, Though is uncompressed!), Flac IS compressed but is lossless Hence "Free lossless audio codec".

For compatibility, You can get away with 512Kbp/s MP3s Encoded with joint stereo, Theres VERY little difference

And I know what I am talking about, I own a studio and do audio rendering.

To the other guy saying "I refuse to use MP3s because i can listen to CDs anywhere"... Ever heard of a MP3 Player?, You then wouldn`t need to carry a bag of discs around, or burn custom mixes...

All in all I think This is a decent idea, It could be described as an MP3 Player that can be used to Play CDs When unfolded. Portability ++

and it wouldn`t even hurt you if you touched it... Those motors have very little torque, low speed And CDs aren`t even sharp...

Yeah like many, my first thought was of putting something other than a cd in there :P

How to make it a lethal weapon:
1. Buy a blank CD
2. Buy a sheet of ultra-fine sandpaper
3. Use it on the CD while it`s spinning
4. Presto! You just got your homemade saw out of a CD. Ok well just go buy a real blade, it`s stronger.

@mal_BB: I don`t know about older iPods, but models from this year and last year can play MP3 perfectly. iTunes even gives an option to rip a CD to MP3 format.

If this gadget could not only play a CD, but also rip it, and store it in memory, then I would buy it.

In responce to an earlier comment, actually, ipods are not mp3 players, since they can`t actually play an MP3, rather apples own compressed format, AAC. This actually looks good, if a little dangerous...

Now if only it could copy the cd straight to its harddrive so we could copy our friends cds without having to take them home and then bring them back.

I mean, so we could take a stand against music piracy. Yeah, that`s what I meant to say.

i think you all got it wrong, 1- it wont scratch you no matter how fast is going.
2- it is meant to be portable as mp3, and when you get home, or the office or someone has a cd you want to borrow you just put it down and make it spin.
3- OF COURSE YOU CANT PUT IT IN YOUR POckeT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don`t see what`s wrong with using CD players. I use mine loads. It`s handy to play when you don`t want to watch TV or go on your computer and stuff. It`s nice to just read a book and listen to a CD. Yes you could put the CD in your computer and listen to it through that but doing that wastes so much more electricity! I thought the planet was supposed to be going eco or something?

would it kill ya to just go to the store and buy a CD? You get a little exercise and fresh air out of it anyway. :-P
