The reality is, they line it up so the grain is going longways so it`s easier to break. They can`t break a board that has the grain going perpendicular to their cut.

It`s an amazing kick, but (since I`ve been in Tae Kwon Do for 3 years) the boards are actually from the weakest set so they do not take a lot fo effort to break but his accuracy is outstanding

they usually do use thinner boards for those sorts of kicks especially if it`s just for a demonstration or something. they want it to look really cool. i`m a second dan (blackbelt) in taekwondo. and it was real but he did three seperate kicks all in one jump.

Quite a lot of people are missing the point. He kicked three times in one jump, and it was quite accurate as well.

Can you kick a man in his legs, groin/belly and head in one jump? This guy evidently can. That`s some l33t skillz. Commendable.

yes he accually broke the wood its not that hard... ive been in tei kwon do for about 7 months... on me first month i broke a real (slightly harder than these) wood board... the breaking of the board is not all that impressive... its the accuracy that is stunning and the fact that 3 kicks in one jump broke all the boards is amazing.

To all the people saying "The boards are precut/paper thin."

So what, can you do that kick? People are missing the point, regardless of the board thickness, something like that is hard as hell to do.

That clip was from Anthony Bourdain`s No Reservations show in Korea. Tony himself was able to break one of those plates with his fist with little to no effort. Yes it is impressive to be able to do that, but without power behind the kicks, it is more "arts" than "martial".

Plus... they do a dance routine in class too... hardly a learn to fight class.
