I`m pretty sure the `if you cannot read this do not use this product`y thing was supposed to be humurous...

And some of these made sense, and were understandable. The washing machine and vending machine were good labels, many silly-a-teenager try a washing machine ride, and many, many people try to knock down the snack that gets stuck.

Just thought I`d add- lottery tickets are printed on thermal paper. heat seriously buggers them up. people I know (like my brother) will iron out money if it is crumpled. i`m serious.

so ironing a lotto ticket isn`t as weird as you would imagine.

I`m sure the penis one was staged, but some of the others are just a direct result of our litigious society that we have created.

For every warning label there is a victim of their own stupidity that caused it to be placed on the product. This prevents what I like to call...natural selection, which is why we have so many idiots running around.

Of course, the need for `stupid` warning labels like these began after that idiot woman sued McDonald`s when she spilled hot coffee on herself.

The president one could be about company president... mabey.
Lol to StopSmiling. =D

Well, not really. They say they didn`t vote for him. You don`t really vote for a company president.

The Lotto ticket one is actually really, really important- for the same reason it says "avoid heat".

Those lotto tickets, like a lot of ink-less reciepts, use laser/heat to print. Applying heat makes the paper go black on one side.

Therefore, winning lotto ticket + extreme heat from an iron = completely black (and useless) piece of paper. Whoever took the picture is just ignorant to that.

The warning on the phone book : "Do not use while operating a moving vehicle" is from the same phone company that advertised a `travel-size` phone book.

"Do not use product if you cannot understand all instructions". I don`t find this funny at all, quiet legitimate.

"do not hold the wrong side of the chainsaw" is about as dumb as a label that reads "do not touch stove top when it is ignited." of course i had a friend that touched a stove top when it was on...

but really who`s stupid enough to hold the wrong end of a chainsaw? and if that label wasnt on there and they purposely held the wrong end of a chainsaw could they sue the manufacturers?

Washer, jet ski, chainsaw, oven, Yellow Pages, lottery ticket, vending machine, and brush warnings are reasonable. Mostly for idiots but still useful, as there are many such people. Some aren`t even that bad. Ironing might seem like a good idea if you got your lottery ticket wet.

Screwdriver warning is fake. In addition to a functioning brain and eyes I have a screwdriver set that is identical to that one minus the fake phrase. Ipod one is a joke unless you`re brain dead. Clothing one is real but out of context. Phone one is a mistranslation. Scooter one is stupid, although the second phrase is reasonable. The one with a poison warning is amusing but possibly useful for people with a basic understanding of English if they can understand at least that sentence. Dog medication one is amusing and either a misunderstanding or just used for the first sentence. It would also be useful if someone were to take their dog`s medication.

a lot of these were obviously shopped. the dog pill bottle one was really bad; the text was flat compared to the curve of the bottle. also, on the scooter warning, the words "this product" may be in the same font, but they have been scaled horizontally to fit.

As a few others have stated before me, the only reason these warning labels exist is because some idiot did it and either the company got sued or they got wind of it and recalled the product(s) in question to relabel them. This is nothing new, and really you should be wondering what the people who caused these labels were thinking when they did such.

Oh, and mluther, I use a knife to open any box, no matter how precious the cargo.

"Never use a lit match or open flame to check fuel level" That one reminds me of Darwin awards. (Honorable mention: Plane stupid) where a guy lit a match to see inside the plane fuel tank during the night.

The dog prescription one has that label because those auxillary labels come pre-printed, and that drug probably required a warning about drowsiness. Also, in the case that a human decided to take their dog`s meds (it has happened), they should be warned about the drowsiness.

the penis one is fake. the text is a different color, and it`s all angled downwards. no real label would be like that

the "do not insert into penis" label refers to sounding. its a practise where yeah, guys insert rods into their pee-holes. kinda like using tunnels to stretch out pierced earlobes, same kinda idea.

so that they had to put it in there
but just thinking about it
why would ANYONE do that!?

Vending machines were set up so that if you tilted them forward, the can of soda would slide forward and fall out of the vending machine. People were getting hurt when the machine fell over on them. I think that one is not stupid, the person trying to get a free coke is.

The "Machine can fall over and cause serious injury or death" (on a vending machine)" one isn`t stupid at all. When we were kids, we used to tip cola vending machines forward and then let them drop back. The shock would cause two or three pops to jump out of the brackets and fall into the dispensing tray. Free pop.

On the BOTTOM of an ice cream container: Do not turn upside down.

or something along those lines.

The only reason they put these warnings on (apart from the our president is an idiot thing, which is obviously for a piss take) is because their are idiots out there who have done/asked stupid things/questions and instead of getting drated over by a million idiots, if the companies place these warnings at least you can`t say they didn`t warn you.

"We are sorry that our president is an idiot, we did not voted for him" (on an american clothing label, in french)

THAT IS PRICELESS!!!!

"Machine can fall over and cause serious injury or death" (on a vending machine)

Oh I`ll rock that damn thing if it steals my food! BAD VENDING MACHINE! BAD!

For all the rest...."DUH"

But you know, I have this gut feeling some idiot somewhere *will* do those stupid things.

For isntance, that `do not put any person in this washer`, I can just imagine an idiot recording himself being spun in the washer. With the warning labels, I guess the company can avoid any lawsuits, no?
