i get confused by that..

the youngest u can be to live in 3 centuries is 100 years and 2 days.
(or 100 years and 2 seconds depending on how precise u wanna be)

December 31st 1899 to January 1st 2000 - thats the youngest u can be to livin in 3 centuries.

Does nobody else notice their age increases as their number increases, you`re all "aaah 46 year old!!! :-O!!! pwnzorz!" but there`s a 42 year old...

Thats good and all, but not very well done, the whole 46 year old in three centuries thing, also, the text alongside the picture looks boring...

Actually, how cool is it, we all probably know someone who might live into 2100.

We`ll be saying things like "I remember when not everyone had the internet", and "I remember we used to have these things called Teevee, and we had countries... they`re kinda like what you kids call companies nowadays".

Hmm.. for me to live through 3 centuries I`d need to live till I was.... 117 so really unlikely.

For my youngest brother though, he was born in 1998. So just 102 ish for him.

Actually pretty possible.

yall keep complaining about the 46 year old, but no one mentions the 90 year olds and stuff, none of them can be living in 3 centuries unless they are at least 100 years and 2 days old

the 40 yr olds are in there because this was not intnded to be about living 3 centuries. According to the artist, it was intended to show people who looked weathered beyond their years due to hardships in life. The artist just developed a particular interest in supercentenarians (sp?)

Cool. Most people don`t want to live that long, though. And by the time I`d be able to get that old, the world will probably be falling to pieces.

"I DON`T DRINK OR SMOKE OR FOOL AROUND WITH BEAUTIFUL WOMEN"--WHY WOULD ANYBODY WANT TO GROW OLD WITHOUT HAVING DONE THAT???

THAT`S JUST WRONG! IN MY OPINION, NOT MUCH OF A LIFE...

Is it just me, or were most of them born well after the year 1900? Doesn`t that kinda defeat the purpose of this project?

i liked #90 At 102, he was walking ten miles a day.
Now he walks three miles a day and can still
read the bottom three lines on an eye chart.
He gave up drinking in his 60s,
but smoked into his 80s
thats amazing! he wont die very soon i believe

He said, "I still chase
good-looking women around.
I just can`t catch up with them —
my legs don`t work fast enough."

I am also wondering why 40 year olds were on this. Maybe they put a picture and a quote of something they said when they were that age and it turned out that they lived into their hundreds.

I asked. He said,
"I don`t fool around with women,
beer, wine or whiskey."

i would assume that you would have to be either 101 or 102 to have lived thru 3 centuries, that is if this were the year 2000

Other than that, love the link///////

hardly in three centuries though, almost as if they were born in 1899, that doesnt really count because you`d have no memory of it

"First, I was simply interested in taking portraits of people who appear worn beyond their years by living extraordinarily hard lives. Those experiences drew me to centenarians, and on to supercentenarians and their stories."

...So that would explain the forty-something-year-olds on there. I think it`s an excellent concept- Really makes you think about what it must be like to be that old.

Stunning. Just really amazingly cool!

I loved the portuguese widow who still mourns and dresses in black because of her husband who must`ve died about 80 years ago.

#90 is my favourite.

1) He looks like you`d imagine God would.
2) He said, "I still chase good-looking women around. I just can`t catch up with them — my legs don`t work fast enough."

i think we are all rather confused about the whole age issue, as some of them are said to be 40 or 50 odd which isnt as old as they should be to get on the site lol, however i think this is a bloody good idea and we need more of it, respect to those who actually bothered to document this stuff

I like art and stuff so I was just wondering...What the hell was the photographer thinking?? He/she made these people look scary. They are right up close to the camera some of them. A few look really nice though. Just thought that the artist could have made the people look a bit more dignified rather than silly.

Cool link. Love some of their stories.

He walks a mile to church every Sunday
in his black cowboy boots,
white suit, pink tie
and Stetson hat.

"I don`t drink, smoke or chase women;"
he says, "they chase me."

Very sweet~

^I was a bit confused by that too.

That`s so cool, they have been alive for everything I learned in history last year. I wonder if any of them like computers, or play video games, or own an ipod or cell phone. I hope I can live into the next century.
