wow, camera work was annoying - could`ve done all that in 30 seconds - anyway, pretty neat hack. Rather than layering the compression in that way, just use password protected archives. At least double compressing though will probably defeat most pattern recognition software if your HDD is stolen/confiscated.

Of course now he`ll probably be arrested for distributing tools aiding in terrorism.

What if people hide malicious files in the picture, sent it around and somehow coded it to auto extract and execute the exe virus files when someone opens the picture to view? THAT is a really scary thought.

Camera was a bit annoying and he didnt always speak clearly but it was a fantastic demonstration. That`s something useful to know, I just would like to have seen him actually open the word files and video file that he had "hidden" in the Jpg. Just to prove that your data doesnt get messed up by doing it and that it all works properly.

"Lol just using the command line we can change a password without even knowing the original...I think my highschool`s PCs are in for something.."
my high school is smart enough not to allow kids to use the command prompt. or the "run" window for that matter

"GOD DAMN IT! People who knows this, do they seriously have to brief abaout it and tell everyone else about it?"
simmer down buddy! 1st of all, the people you`re trying to hide stuff from have to KNOW how to do it. second, they have to know which file. third, they have to use a compatible program to what you compressed it as.
and if you DO double layer it like that, they may be deterred by that.
unless you`re trying to hide the files from zero cool, you should be fine.

yeh, you could use password protection...but then if the file is found by someone, they will know there is something to hide. this way it just seems like a boring picture file. no-one short of the cia or fbi will think to check every single picture file on your computer.

very cool, i shall have to give it a try.

Ok, for those winrar users out there. The way to decompress the files in the picture is a bit more complicated (and way too much of a hassle), but if you really want to know, I`ve figured it out. Anyway. Once you`ve complete the steps in the video, open winrar and browse to the new picture. Right-click the picture from inside winrar and select repair archive. Select the file type you put into the picture (.rar or .zip) and hit OK. A window will pop up saying "The archive header is corrupt. Mark the archive as solid?" It doesn`t matter what you hit. After that, finish the process and go back to the main winrar window. Right-click the new image and hit "Extract without confirmation". This will extract the hidden file into the folder where you have the rebuilt image. There you have it. A fairly-well detailed tutorial that explained just as much as the video, but without all the motion sickness. You`re welcome.

When i did it with winrar, i found a much easier way of viewing the files. simply right click on the `secret` image file and select `open with` then select winrar from the list and press ok, it will open a winrar window with all your files there. you can then extract them or open them or whatever you want to do.

there is however a problem with this system. if you hide too many files within one picture file, its size will go up far too much and you will end up with an image file that is about 10mb.
