I`ve seen this one before but the others are just foreign to me. I actually like the ten in one gardening tool.

I think that portable tie was quite good

Also, Chindogu are not meant to be ridiculous for the sake of being ridiculous. they are, as i mentioned previously, supposed to be something that SHOULD be useful but isn`t. like shiatsu shoes for toddlers. which, on second thought, isn`t so bad...

In response to Ceruchaomon`s thing, actually there`s one to eat healthy food that tastes awful. It`s this box that you put spices in, and then you attach it under your nose. for the same reason cupcakes don`t taste as good near paper mills, food will taste a lot better with smells of cheese, cocoa, or cinnamon.

I`d totally wear the tie.

That tie looked pretty slick. And the cigarette lighter would be fun as a joke.

First, imagine calling the police department to report that your tie has been stolen.

Now try explaining that it contained "fifty-two dollars, a pair of scissors, my credit cards, a pen, my passport and identification card, a letter opener and three paperclips."

We have that book up outside our DT room at school. I can remember a portable traffic light (only the red light works), zebra crossing carpet, butter stick, fish beheading mask (so you don`t have to look at its eyes), a parasol for your convertable, a portable seat to be placed on the knees of the people either side of you, floating cups to take sake in the bath, a bath suit (so you can have a relaxing bath without bothering to take your clothes off), a baby version of the cat-cleaning-slippers, some zip up lips you wear over your own to stop yourself saying stupid thing, shoes with a half-sphere stuck on (to improve balance), a fan to cool your noodles down, shoes with a place where you keep you laundry (to wash/dry them without using up any power), and a hat like a firemans, with a plunger at the back (to stick yourself to the window) and a piece of paper at the top where you right a message "wake me up at....." to allow you to "safely" go to sleep on the train

Which just goes to show, Japanese people can`t invent anything, they just make existing products 100 times better.

And on a side note, the lighter would probably be a great way to quit smoking if you lived in London.

Hi guys, let me tell you what the idea is. (I have a book on them) It`s the Japanese principle of Chindogu. Chindogu are meant to be inventions that appear to be necessary but on closer inspection reveal be useless in what they take away, IE a heat resistant tongue cover; you can`t taste. Chindogu are meant not to be produced, or their status as Chindogu is revoked. I believe there is a Chindogu academy, whose head I`m pretty sure is named Kenji Kawakami. Let me know if I`m confused. Thanks!

the lighter would be god but if i could have anything it would probably be the tie. The hay-fever hat wouldn`t be bad if the toilet roll was covered by something.

There`s been something about the unuseless invention things on I am bored before, but not this exact thing... it had a few different inventions...

but anyway some of them were pretty cool, like the solar powered lighter... No-one would use it when they can just use a normal lighter, but it`s still a pretty cool idea...

The solar power lighter is cool. I bet if conventional lighters stopped being sold and those took there place we would have less smokers. :-D

Bizarre. Gotta love the solar-powered lighter, though. My other faves were the portable-office tie and Swiss-Army garden tool. :-D

I suspect the point of the vertigo-soothing goggles is to provide a `horizon` for the eyes to focus on. A drug-free way of treating motion-sickness!

ICN -- It`s kind of like a hobby, like a club hobby. People who think it`s fun to invent things that they all agree will never be produced. It`s supposed to kind of make you laugh, not to be taken seriously. :)

most of those, if not all, have to be fake. nobody in their right mind would wear a roll or toilet paper on their head.

invented? yeah, probably. produced? not a chance in hell
