Submitted by: malozorro 9 years ago in Misc

Broken down by ratings. Kids movies seem blue and green, adult targeted movies use black and red.

Hard to understand... And still not that interesting once you get it, unless you`re a movie poster designer.

Maybe it`ll look cooler when i`m high on something.

Saintnick, we shouldn`t have to care enough to provide an explanation for an obvious graph if all these buffoons would take a moment to look at the picture, read the title of the post, and do a little bit of thinking. If one can`t figure this stuff out it`s not an ordinarily ignorant existence (yeah, you spelled existence wrong). It`s not ordinary ignorance, it`s inexcusable ignorance. So stop making excuses and dampening the rampant stupidity that`s taking hold of this planet with your snide little comments.

It would make more sence if it gave the data of the top films used to analise the data compiled, atm im getting the idea that the only data compiled in this test sheet is top grossing films which is very bias it should cover all adult movies (not porn) and then trying to find a link between profits and colours used.

It took me a while, but after thinking about the caption under it and getting really, really close to my computer screen it clicked.

I would explain, but it seems a numerous amount of people have already done so.

...I don`t get it.

No, Honestly. I don`t get the point of it. I don`t see why the hell I`m supposed to care about the colours of movie posters, and I really don`t see how this is supposed to make anyone at all less bored.

Besides, how did it actually work, something about ratings and poster colours and... whatever. This sucks.

I don`t get what everyone doesn`t get, this is the most ridiculously obvious thing to figure out. The ratings of the movies are on the left, the colors used in the posters on the right. The higher the rating, the higher up the bar of colors. Adult-oriented movies are predominantly black and red, kids` movies are blue and green. And for those of you saying that they should`ve used a pie chart... Please don`t breed. Really. There`s no way for this information to be presented in a pie chart, and no logical reason for it to be attempted.

Okay I get it, but why do we need a graph to show us that kids film posters use lighter colours? Is that not common sense anymore?

The age rating of the movie is on the left hand side, although not very clear, and runs from youngest at the bottom to oldest at the top. The size of each colour in the horizontal bands shows the proportion of that colour used for posters within that rating. It`s nothing to do with how much money was made by the film.

While I understand what they are saying, and why they are saying it their choice of presentation leaves much to be desired. No matter how hard you work on something, if the target audience (in this case I believe it would be either general public, or more likely a classroom enviroment) doesn`t easily and readily understand what you present, you have just wasted everyones time.

You people are so damn retarded.

All right, have you ever seen a `poster for a movie` outside of a movie theatre?

Well the rating and the colors have a correlation, so the graph breaks down what colors are most closely associated with said rating.

G usually has green/blue dominated posters, whereas R is mainly red and black.

God damn.

I wish they`d gave examples, such as 1 poster with a PG, next to another with a 18.

Kid movies have bright colors. Adult movies have more black and red. You see it shows that the colors reflect the demographic they`re aiming for...

I mean, I don`t get it.

I get it. The colors are in order of how much money that film made, and it`s in order of ratings. The ratings are in tiny letters on the left side.
