i love in southern indiana (near where this park is) and have ridden this ride at least 3 or 4 times. back when it was called the hellevator :) anyway, these rides are very safe. to whoever posted it saying "these rides really are dangerous". your dumb. millions have people have ridden this one ride. and the cables are check EVERY day before the park opens. the rides like made by the Intamin company have all been shut down for major inspection

"The five rides that will be shut down are at Kings Island near Cincinnati; Canada`s Wonderland, in Toronto; Kings Dominion in Doswell, Va.; Carowinds, in Charlotte, N.C.; and Great America in Santa Clara, Calif."

What? Carowinds too?

"Intamin, a Swiss company, made both rides, said Craig Ross, a spokesman for Cedar Fair."

Oohh... I`m Swiss. :/

Ok - maybe it`s just my opinion, but what the hell is wrong with some of you people?!? Do you think it`s a big joke that some poor innocent girl lost her feet on a ride?

I`m not 100% sure, but I am almost positive this girl didn`t ask for this to happen to her. What did she do to deserve this? I`m sure she didn`t wake up that morning, decide to go to Six Flags and plan to go on the Superman ride, only to get her feet torn off.

Imagine if this were you. You people who think this is sooo funny should be deeply ashamed. I just really hope nothing tragic EVER happens to you - I`m sure you wouldn`t think it is amusing if other people were making fun of you in your time of disaster.

Ever heard of KARMA?!?

i don`t understand why people feel bad for her. it`s FEET. momentary discomfort in the whole scheme of her life, especially now that she`s got MILLIONS, so even if they COULDN`T reattach it, which in all likelihood they WILL BE ABLE TO, she could afford to hire hunky guys to carry her around her entire life. it`s not like she got decapitated or anything, or, like a guy i know, who`s seat belt frickin malfunctioned and he fell while it was going and landed on his head. oh yea, he`s frigging rich alright, but he`s not quite all there. they`re only FEET, get over it.

a few people are saying `theyre only feet and now shes rich` but ya know... i kinda like having feet, thry help me get around... lol

and sure, its possible she was screwing around or something but inless your legs are more than about 6 feel long you cant get your feet anywhere they shouldn`t be... when sitting on the ride you can swing your feet around and not be anywhere close to any parts on the ride...

even if this was a complete freak accident, it is still six flags` responsibility to care for this girl... they obviously need to pay for the medical expenses, prostetics, ect... but i think they should also offer a large settlement for emotional damage and future damages involed with her not having feet...

Hmm..I feel so sorry for the girl. I don`t think she could`ve really done anything to contribute to the accident. Your feet are only so long you know. I think she just had some very bad luck. :( On the other hand, I live about four hours away from that park. I`ve been several times, but I`ve never ridden it. Everyone that I knew that rode it was already saying stuff like "they didn`t like the ride", and that their seatbelts like popped open on the ride! <--I`m not kidding. That`s gotta suck. On the other hand, I`ve ridden Drop Zone at King`s Island in Ohio. Uh...ya. Superman Tower of Power..or..has got nothin on Drop Zone. Drop Zone is like..way way bigger..it`s not even funny. It stinks that a great ride like that has to be shut down temp..or., but I mean, if it`s for the safety..or..I`m all about it. :\

what happened was as the ride was on the decent, the cable snapped, wrapped around the girls feet, and ripped her feet off. and this isnt one of the rides that shootes up and bobbes up and down, it just takes you up about 140 ft and droppes you and at the force of the drop, it would rip your feet off def. good thing i never liked hellivator, cuz i dont anymore. (P.S., Hellivator was the name of it before they gayly changed it to gay superman)

I have ridden this MANY times, and to be honest, there is no way you could be "doing something retarded with her feet". Your feet are dangling below - the cables are behind you.

How unfortunate that this happened - my thoughts & prayers go out to her & her family.

I bet she is going to get millions & millions of dollars!! She is going to OWN that Six Flags!

Yikes! Maintenance dude must be looking for a new job. The cables on that ride have a limited life span, even the cables on the Golden Gate need to be replaced after a period of time. I`m taking an educated guess that the manufactures guidelines were not fallowed. Still this should not of happened. This failure should have been anticipated.

A cable snapping and cutting your limbs off? Reminds me of Ghost Ship or The Haunted.

There is this amusement park near my house called Adventure Land. 2 people died in one week. One person was cleaning ladybug roller coaster tracks, and then it started all of a sudden and he got hit. Another was when, somebody flew off a ride and landed on a car in the parking lot.

Even if she may have been screwing around (which even if she was, I can`t imagine what would have severed her feet), the park engineers should have anticipated any bodily mischief when designing and testing the ride. For example, they design rides so you can safely hold your arms out and not get them lobbed off my some stray metal bar.

This is ultimately negligence on the engineers part if there is any way to have your feet severed in any kind of position. I`m unfamiliar with the ride, but I`ve ridden those before where they take you up and drop you. All you are doing is sitting down. So your feet are dangling, the only possible place to put them is forward or tuck them under. So I have no idea what could have severed her feet.

That being said, I feel terrible for her. Even if she was doing something people consider "stupid", she doesnt deserve that.. She`s going to be traumatized from theme parks for life. Not to mention she`ll never be the same again. No child deserves

@RyanF701, No, most of the times those cables are steel. If there`s a lot of weight on it and it snaps it swipes around and cuts through almost anything.
My guess is that it snapped while braking, so it should have happened low on the ground. But yeah WhaddoIknow, it would still hurt anyways. D:

Just because no one ever gets hurt on rides doesn`t mean there`s no possibility of it. Take trains for example. I`ve been on dozens of trains before, nothing`s ever happened to me. Wrecks must just be an engineer messing around with something, eh?

This is most likley the first time this has happened, right? Well, the bitch was probably doing something retarted with her feet on a roller coaster (smart one) and then SLICE! Most of the time these incidents are caused by the riders` own stupidity. Why the hell did they have close down about fifteen other rides/ parks? That`s like seeing one kid who`s a douche, so you punch him, then going on a killing spree because you think everyone`s a douche. They didn`t even have anything to do with the park or ride. Just because they want people to think they are safe and conciecious of everything means they have to ruin the fun. YAY!

This is a stupid world. I can`t until the apocolypse so satan can castrate you bitches.
