I would like to meet the first pilot to try this. Video was a bit long for a post but, I don`t think this was taped to be posted. As for the waste of fuel BS, what ever the cost it is worth it to get our solders out alive and back to there families.

Extremely Cool: The fact that a speeding boat can be picked up out of the ocean by a partly submerged helicopter. MAJOR kudos to these people!

Not-at-all cool: The fact that this video could easily have been cut in half (a third at the least), without missing out on anything.

Ah, what the hell. Four Stars. 8-)

A)Do you know why the USA imports all its fuel? (incase you didnt know they actually did) We have a growing storage supply of oil that will last us easily 100 years, growing population and war included.
B)Yes because it totally matters how much fuel you spend during a war.
C)F|_|ck you :P

LOTS of coordination needed there. The helicopter needed to be perfectly still and in the right height and the boat had to be dead center with the cargo bay. And they do this HOW often?

Waste of fuel? These people are dieing for you everyday. Also how much fuel do you thing you waste everyday just using your car to drive to the local shop etc etc?
BTW would have been SBS not SAS if they were brits.

Aramil wtf would you have them spend the money on? Spec Ops is a very important part of our military (assuming it`s our military).. maybe you`re just jealous you couldn`t get in? Oh sorry I forgot you were a 13 year-old. haha silly me.

If the helecopter was cruising in water.....then wouldn`t it currently be a boat?

So a quicker way from helecopter to boat would be from the cruising helecopter, and then the helecopter flies. Of course, this is just me taking things way to seriously :-P

... Was this supposed to be special? That was pathetic. Just looks like a big arguement starter to me.

This method of extraction is for removing spec ops forces from an area where the water is to shallow to bring in a PC, MK5, or other larger craft, or else it is to hot for such extraction. The helo can get in an out much faster than any ship the commonly used helo is a CH-46 so compare 150kts of a helo to the 30-45kts of a watercraft. The tactical value of this type of extraction is obvious. As for the Helo pilot, a 46 pilot will tell you the trickiest part is actually getting the helo back out of the water after the pick up.

yea aramil, lets cut that out of the budget so when we need to get em out in a hurry they can climb a big ass rope... hell they probably train for it in the camp anyway. and what the hell lets put a knot in the rope somewhere to make it easier... but not too many, we dont want to spoil them...

if one of the guys in the helicopter was a second too late that would really hurt to get rammed into then smashed against the wall..

The fastest way to spend fuel would be more acurate. Why do they need to learn this? Does everyone has ths type of equipment?Geez...I`m guessing this is US troops or English ones.

Agrees with ninjacache. It`s hard enough to hover, let alone hover in the water!

took way too long for the boat to come to view. This clip could have easily cut the first half, the entire time I was thinking about closing the window- but was anticipating the boat`s arrival. Again, took way too long.
