My boyfriend just about went nuts when he found out that I had never seen Mr. Roger`s Neighborhood. Mike, a guy who plays piano sometimes in our cafeteria, likes to play the theme song, and the first time he played it, I turned to my bf and asked him, "What song is this?" And when he told me, I said, "Oh, I`d never heard it before." I swear there was a full ten seconds of silence at the table. I`ll have to find videos of some of the shows and watch it.

Rogers found beauty in the number 143. According to the piece, Rogers came “to see that number as a gift…" because, as he says, “the number 143 means ‘I love you.’ It takes one letter to say ‘I’ and four letters to say ‘love’ and three letters to say ‘you.’ One hundred and forty-three.”

I guess nobody else finds that a bit nutty? Anybody? No? OK then, never mind.

Anyways, here in the Great White North we had Mr. Dressup (who apparently got his start on Mr. Rogers`s`s`s show) and The Friendly Giant. Never did see a full episode of Mr. Rogers` Neighbourhood, though.

"Awe, Mr. Rogers ruled. I don`t think kids today would appreciate him, though."

If you extend larajunky into the `kids` category as I do, no, they wouldn`t.

Ditto to what flippant said. Wicked sense of humor. I was fortunate enough to have met him a couple years before his death (at his home on Nantucket, he lived next door to some relatives). Great man! The world will never be the same without him.

Mr. Rogers was not only kind and caring, he was also extremely intelligent. Just google rogers saves PBS (or search PBS on I-A-B) and watch the video. Absolutely amazing.

The funny part is, though, even though he is everything he was portrayed as, the guy also had a wicked sense of humor. I remember when a couple of radio jocks from Denver called him up...he was laughing at the their dirty jokes right along with them!

Comment from the article :

"Amazingly, within 48 hours the car was left in the exact spot where it was taken from, with an apology on the dashboard. It read, “If we’d known it was yours, we never would have taken it.” "
okay ... hmmm , so it not okay to take HIS car but its okay to take ANYONE elses. Gotcha. I wish I had the old f*ckers fame when My El Camino got stolen.

Even the best made models get recalled every now and then. I think he was the best human being ever to walk the earth. Just think of what the children in Heaven are watching right now. It kind of makes you smile all over, doesn`t it?

The guy definately had what most do not. Perhaps a higher state of conscience? Anyways, No, he was not a Marine Sniper or in the military of any sort.

If you want to srgue, do your research first.

(pre-emptive strike ^^)

It`s definately a wonderful day in the neighborhood that is Heaven. He earned his right.

It seems that after losing good idols like him, the world went to crap. What a shame; and rest his soul.

What cracked me up was the subway one. Everyone recognizing him and singing the theme song. Awesome.
