why is it that the solution to everything seems to be: "get laid"?

Xeroshade932, you mean like sodium, or a tank of hydrogen? Or even 8 dry pints of nitro glycerin?

Pretty effin awesome for match sticks though. Take a lot of match heads though.

I guess I mean, why CALL it a `future` container? If it`s being used right now, then it`s just a container. See my point?

Male 432
A future container could be anything, personally, I use an emptied toilet paper roll or paper towel rolll, and put something on one side to keep the ingredients in.

I expected them to fill a bunch of tennis balls with match-heads and toss them at each other.

That would`ve been cooler, though it was still pretty neat.

you wouldnt need a "bathtub full of water" to blow up cesium!!! and yea, youd better hope youve got a lot of time to run

"I think that whole display was pretty impressive for those of us who aren`t pyro`s."

I`m NOT a pyro and I didn`t find that impressive. Or amusing. However, I did almost find it amusing when I thought the bucket was going to explode in the camera man`s face. But then it didn`t happen.
And why are people posting bombs in their comments? If somebody wants to know how to make a bomb, go look it up.

Fire + Sulfur = Big fire... Duh.

One heck of a smoke bomb!

4 parts sugar
6 parts potassium nitrate (Salt Peter)

Heat this mixture over a LOW flame until it melts, stirring well.
Pour it into a future container and, before it solidifies, imbed a
few matches into the mixture to use as fuses. One pound of this
stuff will fill up a whole block with thick, white smoke!

I don`t agree.

I would like to point out that the guys who spent hours upon hours cutting up matches are getting kudos for making a short-lived fireball (potentially risking the safety of themselves or others); meanwhile, the guys who spent hours upon hours filming LEGO pieces moving around a sheet are getting called `lame-ass losers` (I paraphrase) for building a Millenium Falcon (putting nothing/no-one in danger).

Normally I really enjoy irony, but this time IT BURNS!! THE IRONY BURNS!!!! :-O

Oh, and don`t bother using matchheads, there are pleanty more chemicals out there, you just have to do the research.

I`ll give you a hint: mix *something you`d find in your kitchen* with *something you`d find in your garage/shed*

Definately worth it. I don`t know why so many people are saying it wasn`t worth the time and effort.
They got it on tape. That means they can rewatch it and recall that time when they lit 30,000 matchheads on fire. Not many people can do that. I think that whole display was pretty impressive for those of us who aren`t pyro`s. I mean....I didn`t know that a bucket of matchheads could do that.....

Oh and I have see better explosions come from a pile of poo. Although I do enjoy a bucket full of match heads. They really needed to condense the blast though and made a real boom.

Laundry Detergent (Powder) + Gasoline + Styrofoam = Much better fire! Plus it should come out sticky if you`re not lazy and make it right.

I am not going to tell you how to make it because if you are a true pyro you don`t need me to explain that stuff already and if you aren`t then you shouldn`t be playing with fire although you probably wouldn`t be seeing as to how you aren`t a pyro.

The Blues Brothers (and a lot of others) "borrowed" the music. It is actually the theme song to a TV detective show from 1958-1961, called Peter Gunn. Composed by Henry Mancini.

It wasn`t even really an explosion, stop calling it that!

Heres what you SHOULD do:

1) Grab a piece of copper pipe
2) Crimp and bend one end tightly to seal it
3) Pack the pipe with matchheads (without the wood if possible)
4) Make sure it`s packed tight, and crimp and bend the other end, making it completely sealed
5) Rig the pipe over a heat source, such as a burning pile of chemicals
6) Run like hell to avoid the shards of copper pipe from the REAL explosion

This way, the energy is contained within the pipe until it forces its way out. The only way it can do this is blowing the pipe apart, creating a mssive `boom` as the energy quickly escapes, spreading pieces of copper into nearby trees, animals, people, babies, etc

Am I going to be banned for telling people how to do this?

What an embarassingly tiny and slow flame considering the amount of matches and time spent. Definitely wasn`t worth it. Amateurs!

Nothing a ping pong ball well stuffed with firework powder couldn`t match (match, eh, get it? MATCH ... ok now move on). Plus they are easier to make. Ahh ... those were happier times ...

Male 838
It would be fun to see if all that crap was compressed into one big tight ball! The explosion would be greater to watch.

Male 1,465
"why do all that cutting? why not just buy buttloads of matches and put into bucket?"

It’s so there’s very little between the match heads. Extra wood could have slowed down the spread of the flame. You see, in pyrotechnics, the higher the “burn rate” the higher the detonation velocity. The “bomb” in this video, which is technically a makeshift low explosive (really low), depends on rapid deflagration which means that the less filler material there is the faster all that energy will be released.

Yeah running up to a bucket full of flaming matches real smart. Good video by the way. After he emptied the first thing of matches I thought they were going to light it but they just kept adding more.

"Aha what if the friction from pouring them into the bucket somehow caused one of the heads to ignite? That`d be a pooty way to die."

That`s why you use safety matches which would require a striking surface that included red phosphorus.

Though, strike anywhere matches are still good for the infamous “tennis ball bomb”.

… My friends and I were little pyros when we were kids.
