haha... they`ve got a point.

this reminds me of that Pirates of the Caribbean-themed M&Ms display with the catchprase "Plunder a bag!" (Plunder means steal.) in fact I think that`s on IAB somewhere.

Seems 100% logical, except for the "extra" free ones.

20% free, is true, but there is no obligation to buy, with "extra" it implies on top of your purchase.

So they were only half right, it would be fun to file a class action lawsuit against this stuff.

It`s just like those ads, "Get a free iPod!" all you really need to do is subscribe to a $400 magazine, and then you MIGHT get it!

At least the concept is kinda funny. I`d say in the right hands, this joke could be very funny, but these guys made it lame.

I`m too much of a cynic and a smartass to find this funny.

I`m one of those guys that, if they would have told me the idea for the video, wouldn`t laugh at all and would actually explain why it`s not "free" like that even though I know where they`re coming from with the joke.

It may be true that it`s only free if you buy the other product, but if that`s in the fine print and they`ve got a big sticker saying FREE, they really are just asking for trouble.
0
Reply
Female 601
I was going to say that it`s only free with the purchase of the product, but like 5 or so other people already said that....

I get the point trying to be made, but they didn`t exactly hit the nail on the head.

Did anyone else notice how the presenter tried to make it sound like a dangerous, out of hand situation when nothing extreme happened at all? :P

"I guess I`ve reached that age where stealing isn`t funny..."

They`re not trying to be funny, they`re trying to prove a point that it says `free` but it isn`t really.

Reminds me a bit of the menu that says burger 2 dollars, cheese add 50 cents, and you ask for just the cheese.

Male 186
no, ever since somebody went into a shop in america and ate cookies and claimed they were the 50% free ones, sued the company and won, all "extra free" deals now say "50% extra free! 150g instead of 100g" or similar!

Wow, I will play devil`s advocate then. I say you are all wrong so far. There are often times you will come to the same size containers like.. a bag of chips for instance: Same size bag and same product, but one size says "EXTRA 15% FREE!". Which one would you buy? They are not saying that the 15% is yours wether you purchase it or not. It means that you will pay the normal purchase price as the regular bag of chips and get more for your money at no extra cost. Everyone knows when you open a bag of chips, you will be lucky if it is 2/3 full. So If I saw two bags of Dorritos side by side and the same size, but one said "15% more!" on it and it was the same price, then I would get that one. It`s called marketing and they would not do it if it did not work.

it says extra free, implying you must have something else before you can have the free part, which is over and above the norm. a poor idea well executed.

To a point it makes sense kus if the food is lets say 50% discount you paying for half the regular price and the price (if its fair) goes in hand with whats in it. For example a pack of 10 bubblegum pieces thats priced 10 cents its logically 1 c per bublegum so if its 50% regular price or how they put it here free then if you eat 5 pices then you eating the "Free"part and leaving the part you have to pay wich would be 5 cents. Whats wraking my brain that if you eat 5 and leave 5 at 5 cents then wouldnt he price go even lower to 50% of 5 cents?
