Oh dearie me. I suppose you have studied evolution in detail for five years at a well-known scientific university.
Incidentally , all mutations are not bad. As an organism becomes more complex it becomes more likely that they will be. With bacteria, a mutation in a plasmid ( a small ring of dna which functions independantly from the main chromosome ) will often make it able to synthesise a new protein, which is likely to help it in some way. If not, theres plently more bacteria where that came from. The reason that most mutations in humans and other complex animals are damaging is that we are much more complex and changin one protein systhesis will have a knock-on effect on the rest of the body.
Even so , not all mutations are bad. An example is the mutation in Europeans and other Westerners which allow us to digest milk. Many people from the far east cannot do this. We evolved this as our climate allowed us to farm, whereas in the middle east the lifestyle was nomadic
Try 4 billion years on for size.
lolso... the flu virus, mutating constantly is what allows it to survivewe are worried about bird flu mutating to infect humans easilysome bacteria can digest nilon now (which wasnt around 6000 years ago, or whenever bacteria was created)(these i know off the top of my head.. im sure theres more relevant examples if you look into it)
and if evolution is disproved, i know its not to be christ i belive in
I sorta wonder if you can actually smoke those `shrooms.... just a little though.
... then forgive him.
One question: how do you KNOW that all mutations are bad? Even if 99,9% of them is, we`re talking a few billion years here ---> the law of large numbers...
Unless it mutates to be able to grow on humans >_>
"I swear, 70% of the time when I look at comments and one pisses me off, it`s a European."
0.o not cool-----------------I know... That was really xenophobic there, but I was just really pissed and I guess people don`t think as well as usual when they`re in that state.
It was really a horribly bigoted thing to say, but I think there is a lot of tension between the United States and a lot of European nations right now because of the war in Iraq...
But that`s still no excuse as I said. I hope you accept this apology because I really was angry at one European in particular and I didn`t want to offend the cool Europeans, because they are out there. No matter what continent we`re from, we`re all the same. I`m sorry.
0.o not cool
talk about bio-warfare!
I didn`t phrase that well...
Let me re-phrase that: People who don`t BELIEVE in God. That`s more clear.
Thank you for pointing that out. :-)
FYI, *no one* knows about God. The only secret knowledge religious (theist) people know of is the kind they make up.
Jebler: Just because you don`t understand evolution (or don`t want to) doesn`t mean that`s proof for it`s non-existence. The origin of religion is the fact that people are afraid of things they don`t understand which obviously affects the more gullible ones much easier.
Then again Creationists are more into believing and premature thinking than reasoning and probabilities ;)----------------I myself am a theistic evolutionist, and if you don`t know what that is, look it up.
You really are an asswipe for insulting somebody`s religion outwardly like that. It`s not cool. If somebody`s Jewish I don`t say, "I think Judaism is just for obsessive compulsive idiots who think pigs are evil," because that would hurt them on a level far out of reach for people who don`t know about God.
And a European. I swear, 70% of the time when I look at comments and one pisses me off, it`s a European.
Yeah, I agree. Let`s just quit using wood all together so a fungus wont kill us all that probably wouldn`t anyway.
REPOST REPOST REPOST REPOST REPOST REPOST!So there :-P
Anyways, the video was always cool, repost or not.
I don`t know if God exists, I`m in no position to say, but if He does, He`s a colossal dickhead.
Come on, He needs something to destroy if He`s not encouraging His followers to rape and pillage the innocent civilians after a battle.
this is a good example of something that i cant imagine evolving. unguided evaluation in a world without some god-like figure leading to a parasitic fungus that can grow in a ants head and put pressure on the right area or whatever it does to alter its behavior in a way to benefits it doesnt seem possible to me.
And according to wikipedia it`s used for medicinal purposes in humans, so I guess it doesn`t work on the human brains. Too bad.
Thanks, global warming.
Haha though, I didn`t realize the BBC hired Danny Elfman for it`s documentaries :P Pretty f*cked up stuff... I`m just glad humanity doesn`t have one... yet...mwhahahaa
Definately seen it, but it still freaks me out.
Still, I love to see these kind of things. I mean... a mindcontrolling fungus, it HAS to be awesome.
