that was priceless, on the risk of sounding like an unoriginal freak, im going to do that now! also, is it legal or not! i am confused by all you idiots arguing about it! if i took him to a police station and told them i had trapped a thief, could you please arrest him, could the thief sue me?
END OF LOG!

Catching the guy is a great idea. Humiliating him in that form is a bit much.
They should do things like this everywhere to deter thieves.

^^^ Getting confused, that was two seperate pranks. Great stunt though and totally genuine. They should have parked up next to a load of old fruit and got people to chuck it at him. Modern day stocks.

i remember this, they take him to the "kangaroo court" and ask him questions it`s well funny, "can you spell criminal?" "kriminel" "that`s incorrect" "yeah cos` i`m dylexic" (spoken as die-lex-ic) they later found out that she wasn`t dyslexic , just hadn`t gone to school since primary 6.

It is real, it`s a show called SWAG in the UK was on quite a bit and it ruled. They also trapped some people in a car they tried to steal.
Unlike the US, suing people is not the nation`s favourite pastime. ;)"

F*ck you

it would stop alot of crimes if this was done more, also e more room in jails too. Silly the US saying that humiliating a crimnal is a bad thing... you have the death penalty yet cant humiliate them o_O

*except in NC where you may only detain the person without transporting them. (Cops have to make a pick up call)"

Moron. I love this site but I`m so tired of the "I`m a cop and...", "My neighbor is a...", "My sister`s best friend is..."

Bunch of d0uchebags. Do you not realize that we know you`re full of poo?

It`s not legal in any state in the U.S. to kidnap, intentionally inflict emotional distress, etc. You can hold the person for the police. In this case, in the U.S., the criminal could sue and would have great grounds to. I agree that the criminal should get what he or she gets, but it`s simply the case that they can sue, and have the captor prosecuted for kidnap and other crimes, as well.

The "Small Claims" court judge comment is moronic, as well, because subsequent action doesn`t excuse a criminal from the crime anywa

Pwned. Just make your route a grid through the whole city, ending at the police station to drop him off. That`s no kidnapping but civil arrest then. :-D

my next door neighbor is a USA small claims judge. said that it was hilarious and while illegal to do that to anyone against their will - doubted any judge worth their salt would listen to the argument of the thief and throw any such case out of her court

i remember that program! it was really funny, they`d rig cars to trap thiefs and make them answer general knowledge questions before they let them out! tho i think one time it backfired and the guys saw a cameraman...

Actually it`s completely legal to trap the thief in the US, since you want to go down that road. It`s just illegal to purposefully injure the thief.

If they wanted to make it better they could just back right up to a police station and drop him off.
Which is also legal since citizens arrest can be exercised.

For one thing I know this is not in USA or we would have been seeing the "Thief charges Company for public humiliation" and he would have probably won the case has well!

Pretty sure that is real.
And I doubt the thief if going to press charges, he just got caught.

Oh man, I hope that`s all for real! It would certainly teach him a thing or two about unsupervised trucks. And even if it wasn`t a deterrent to crime, it could definitely help people recognise the undersirable elements within a neighbourhood.

I doubt its real. The legal realities of essentially kindapping someone and then touring them about to humiliate them would mean they would have as much chance of going to jail if not more due to the petty nature of nicking something from the back of a lorry.

nonetheless it looks like a pretty good idea.

Amazing. If it`s true then people should do this more often. Them thieves don`t read up the internets more often than not, so it won`t even go out of date.
