I`m allergic to eggs so I can`t eat them, but the ebryo only develops if the egg is fertilised, the eggs you buy at the supermarket are not fertilised.................................. well they shouldn`t be

"THE CHICKEN COMES FIRST !!! THE EGG NEEDS A CHICKEN TO KEEP IT WARM @$$h0135"

Its an argument of evolution and creation. In evolution, a different species laid an egg, and it was genetically mutated to create the first chicken (The origional species kept it warm). In that situation, the egg came first. In creationism, God created chickens, then chickens laid eggs, so chickens came first.

I`m not going to say which I believe, because ultimately, its a question of believing in God, and thats a topic that starts mindless flaming.

Oh, and Spartano, before you spout things that make you look stupid, think a little... and check your caps lock key.

The chicken did not come first because dinosaurs laid eggs before chickens were evolved enough to be chickens.

Seriously (let`s ignore that fact that the eggs we eat are unfertilized) what`s the difference between eating a baby chicken and a grown up one. At least the baby one just outright gets eaten without none of this let`s keep it and make it fat than eat it jazz :P

scratch that...on closer review, it`s clear that the yolk is broken in one pic. oh well, they killed some embryos

i think what happened was a fertilized egg was transferred into some transparent casing. notice how the chick/yolk is encased throughout?

people in the philippines eat fertalized eggs all the time, their supposed to be really good after you get past the "OMG I`m eating a baby chicken!" thing.

sigh... you know as wonderful as that looks, they had to kill the chicks at every single stage ( the embryos just dont grow out of the shell, you break parts of the amniotic egg) sigh... dead chicks........ o.O

but pretty cool, we just learned bout embryo development and watnot...

This is weird, i looked this up on wikipedia yesterday. The egg came first because chickens are a mutation of the Red Junglefowl. A Red junglefowl laid the first chicken egg, therefore the egg came first.

Who really cares which came first...all that matters is which is on the dinner plate.

chicken or the egg- depends on which creation you believe in. if you think evolution, while being an idiot all the while, the egg came first. creationalism- chicken came first. happy?

He said that they cant be moved or disturbed till there at a certain stage of development (or ever, cant recall)

Not true. If he was using the right kind of incubator for the eggs then it moves them. The eggs need to be moved so the chicks do not form on only one side. The eggs need to be faing with the point down though in the incubator otherwise they won`t develope right. I know this because in my Agriculture class in school we hatch chickens and ducks :).

Rofl.

I love these comments. A great smattering of stupidity; rampant, misguided activism; a few people who know a bit of something and combinations thereof.

To clear up a few things:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placenta

This doesn`t prove that the egg came first, the fact that the question doesn`t use the phrase "chicken egg" proves that the egg most definitely came before any chicken.

And for the love of Benji, there`s very little in the processing of the food us Westerners eat that we`d consider "pretty". Shut up about it, it`s an aesthetic point, nothing more. If you don`t like it, don`t look.

You do actually know for a fact that chickens take it up the As5! That`s a fact. They don`t have a vagina or something similar

You eat eggs that aren`t fertilized.

That`s why you can`t grow chickens out of the eggs you buy at the store.

You see when a daddy chicken (Rooster) and a mommy chicken love each other very much, the daddy puts his hoo-hoo in her haa-haa then when the chicken lays an egg, the egg has an embryo inside.

Otherwise, it`s just an egg.

This is nice! Why so many people claiming they will not eat eggs? If you guys knew how a pig is killed you would probably pass away! What about the things you can do with blood like eating cooked blood with rice and the pigs guts etc etc etc?

Well, a friend of mine once incubated his own eggs. He said that they cant be moved or disturbed till there at a certain stage of development (or ever, cant recall) but apparently, someone at his place moved the incubator and he had to throw the eggs away. So its possible these are simply "disturbed eggs"? This took place years ago so I may be wrong, correct me if I am.
