philippic, first of all, i resent that commentand second of all, what the hell does that have to do with any of this?
It`s also stupid to claim that Canadians know shìt about the military in general and that America does not know shìt about their own army.
Wouldn`t you be overjoyed and inspired if your family came back after being away saving your butt for a long time (saying that your family situation is ok)? I would be crying my eyeballs out
I almost shed a tear, cause I`m a sucker like that.
they work in 8 hour shifts, and they find and select 6 more military officers every two years.
geez. even if it was a publicity stunt, the kid got his dad back after 7 months
my uncle (who`s now garaunteed to stay out of Iraq for two years because he`s the Marine attache to the president) was in Iraq a few years ago on two consecutive tours. He was there for well over a year before he got to come home.
i was bawling cuz i was so glad he was home. i mean, its my uncle of course i cried that hard, but i cant even imagine if it was my dad.
And i was touched... why? because this father ABANDONNED HIS SON for 7 months, like many others, broked his little heart and left for a country where he shouldnt even be in. Its a kid, a cute kid, which have his father sent to KILL PEOPLE.
and i remember saying the media want you to see happy army story... what about the father who never got back? what about the father who came back with a serious insanity case? what about the father who beat his wife? what about all the unhappy story?
yeah, you wont see those... after 7 months of pure deep sadness, the kid is fnnally happy... for the day... how can this be fair?
I didn`t look for spelling mistakes, if that`s what you`re implying.. :-)
I don`t agree with war, I hate the thought of people being killed, but alas in this corrupt money and power driven social situation called first world politics it`s inevitable. Sad but true.
Without these people there would be no order, only chaos. With this, there is a small portion that is chaos. The media overhypes it, but that`s the emdia`s job.
Right after i had to bring out the onions... I know, im evil, im SO evil...
Regardless of volunteer army or not, or what you think of the war, the son isn`t to blame for any of it, and didn`t make any of those choices that his father did. Seven months without his father means something different to him, that`s weekends and holidays and birthdays missed. So you guys shouldn`t be so mean about the little boy.
I cried like a little girl too when my dad came back from Iraq in `91. All you know is you miss him and he might not come back. And in all honesty for most of those men and women, the person who leaves doesn`t come back, the person who returns will be different.
They disrupted a whole class for that? They could have done it when he`d got home.
I shed a tear.Was so touching.
Relax! This was really awesome, cute kid.
Ever heard of like, the reserves? Where the army helps you pay for college (helpful to people who can`t afford it) while training you near home, so that when there`s need, they can pull you away? There was no foretelling getting pulled into the war, but when a soldier`s called, he has to go, whether he`d rather stay home with his kid or not.
That`s kind of like saying, "Geez, so what a miner was trapped in a cave-in for three days. It`s his fault for wanting to be a miner." Well, yeah. I guess when anything bad happens, it`s our fault for allowing it.
fact is, we need an army. We need one, in order to protect ourselves. I`m not saying the war is protecting us, or that it`s a good idea, but that`s why we need an army, and THAT`S why so
"The last I checked, Canadians have been putting themselves in harms way in Afghanistan for years now. The last I read, they`ve committed more money and more men, and little girls are actually beginning to get let back into schools again."
I never said they didn`t dippoo.
place your bets, guys.
i`m not questioning the soldier. he`s doing his job. i just wish his job didn`t destabilize entire global regions known for their volatility.
Didn`t make me cry though.
I must be too because i didnt cry.
Sweet story, but didn`t cry.
What makes you think this Sailor signed up to fight the Iraq war? How do you know he didn`t get sent to Afganistan? How do you know he wasn`t already in the Navy before our dipsh*t president attacked anybody? Maybe he expected that there would be a reason if we were to go to war. Maybe he was already in service when all the stupid crap from the stupid president went down. Just because we don`t support this bullsh*t war or our president, doesn`t mean we shouldn`t support the troops.
The last I checked, Canadians have been putting themselves in harms way in Afghanistan for years now. The last I read, they`ve committed more money and more men, and little girls are actually beginning to get let back into schools again.
No I didn`t cry. You know why? We didn`t draft for this war, YOU SIGNED UP FOR IT! What comes along with signing up in the military? Money, education, education funds, experiences you will get no where else, job opportunities, long amounts of time away from home, and DEATH! If you don`t to be away from your family for that long, or if you don`t want to die in a war, then don`t drating sign up, that easy. Don`t sign up then start a family and get all pissed off when you get deployed. It`s a job that you signed up for.
Tjames, our army is smaller because our population is smaller. It doesnt mean we know less about the war. man its like im talking to high school freshmen!.....oh wait.
Funny you should say that, seeing as Americans know very little about their own country, while Canadians know a poo load more. So, my guess is that most Canadians know a hell of a lot more about the military than the poorly educated lard as$es that make up this country.
I felt emotion!
Its not...quite...that simple :-)
I guess thats why you get when you live several thousand miles from the main populated areas. America is a large country with a large population. America has been the spotlight for years, we arent really willing to spend much on school funding as of yet.
Hey groogle, your country barely has a military. You really dont know much about the war do you?
The guy left his son behind to go kill people ( like killing people is more important then fathering his own son ) and he has nothing better to do then to use his own son for patriotic purpose.
terrible punchline, great story
