Yes, I know pit ponies pulled the carts. I`m just saying that the ponies didn`t carry it, the carts did. Not much of a difference but whatever. And, my school has crappy books too, what i`m saying is whats from the text book mingled with common knowledge. School has poisoned my mind and makes me want to walk around, going on and on about how much smarter i think i am than everybody else you see...Lol...

i`m my day, i had to walk ten miles to school in blinding snow, uphill, both ways.

My daddy did too! But he didn`t get shoes.. and the snow was already seven feet high by the time that he left for school. :-)
LochNess, The `mules` or small horses (pit ponies!) pulled the carts.
Onto MY opinion.. Argh. It scared me, they look worn out and sad. I am very grateful that this is illegal now. No one should have to go thought that in their childhood.

Um I thought it was hot in the mines so you couldn`t get frostbite and i`m sure they had carts carrying the coal, not mules. Unless theres a difference between American mines and British mines that I don`t know of. In my city, Newcastle, like most people have a grandad or great grandad or whatever who was a miner...well unless they had just moved but you know -___- Do you guys pay attention in History? Screw you if i`m boring you.

lol thats me second from the left in the front row....man that brings back memories. The guy next to me was stinky mcreadie, (hence the look on my face)..sometimes we could not tell a methane deposit from ol stinkies ass...led to some major issues. Stinky lost his eye in a freak flatulence related incident. In those days you were not considered a man unless you had the black lung by the time you turned 16. I had some share options weaved into my contract when I turned 5, was a sound finacial decision in retrospect, by the time I turned 11 I was managing the human resources department and piloting revolutionary new methods to make your face even blacker for all the sepia photography we had to undertake as pasrt of our award agreements.

"Oh, and as for looking "youthful" or kid-like, that kind of labor and not ever having the chance to be kids (playing, goofing off) takes its toll. If you had to fight and scrape for your survival every day then you would age much quicker."
you know, the impression im getting is "since you kids DONT work beyond the point of reason, and you CAN enjoy your childhood, youre lazy"
which is entirely not true.
sure, most kids are lazy, but risking our lives daily isnt exactly something that every child SHOULD do.
"i know i should comment on the picture but.... jebler if you haven`t got anything nice to say don`t say anything at all and idea of showing this to kids when they complain about chores is a very good idea i`m going to remeber that"
practise what you preach. you have like an entire paragraph on how Jebler is complaining about things, and one measly, insincere sentence about how "nice" you think this is.

if that picture was taken at the time of when that happened, you`d have to get a scanner, scan it which would make it even worse quality and that picture is obviously PS`d

Sigh...I wondered when someone would come along and empathise with the kids. Yeah! They could kick your asses, you stupid spoiled brats! I`m siding with these malnourished kids, even though that if one were here today I`d hate to be around him and I definitely wouldn`t give up the luxuries I have. That`s right kids, I`m full of crap! I`m just moaning about society because I can!

"The ones who survived, could kick the @sses of every spoiled brat in America today."

Lovely sentence that. These kids are better than us because they`re stronger. Education isn`t important, it`s all about who has the greatest hardship in life. Cnlbell, you can feel bad for them, but to use that as a reason to show us why society today sucks? You`ve clearly got your principles mixed up.

The truly sad part that no one is mentioning, is that they did back breaking labor for pennies a day. There was no health care, so if you got hurt, you had to fix yourself. More often than not, they were replaced without a second thought if injured. Lots of kids died, but it was undocumented. Many were abused, sometimes sexually by the men in charge. There were no snack breaks and it was from dawn until dusk. The ones who survived, could kick the @sses of every spoiled brat in America today.

My great grandmother worked in a sweat shop and she was one tough chick. Had 13 kids and died when she was 104. Not too many people can hope to be so strong or live as long today. Our society has developed into a fat lazy b!tch.

Yes you can, silly. The pixel densities will be different (i.e. different resolution.
It`d be nice if most people actually knew about the topic they`re ranting on about. -.-`

In fact in our book they had a little interview with one of the kids...It said he sat alone in a pitch black room all day down in the mines, for like 15 hours, and the only time he did something was open a door for mules or something...but he couldn`t fall asleep so he would draw pictures in the sand(even though he couldnt see it...) and he didnt have gloves and got frostbite or something.

"Undeniably photoshopped.
Just look at those pixels, there."

I Curse the day PhotoShop was invented! I CURSE the day the guy who invented it was born!! I CURSE THE DAYS HIS PARENTS WERE BORN!!!

Back on-topic, it`s important to keep in mind that this is what children were used for, once upon a time. Kids have it so frikkin` easy these days; a little jolt of reality like this does `em some good.
