Looks like it could have been made recently and had some effects put too it. Movie Maker can add similar effects to make it look dated

    No, it looks genuine.

I mean, look back at other acrobatic films and such from that era. Americans have done equally as crazy and bizzare things and had them recorded.

Hell, check out Ripley`s archives. They`ve got a buttload of clips like that.

Is it just me, or is it ironic that it has Thomas Edison in the begining credits, but it`s a silent film?

It`s not ironic that it`s silent and has Thomas Edison`s name on it. He made a ton of shorts. Do you think even one of them had sound? They had music soundtracks that coincided with characters actions maybe, but they were not talkies. (I do understand why you thought it was ironic, though.)

not a very good photoshop job. watch the very beginning, right after the edison copyright screen you can see a shot of the stage before the tape reel leader is shown. no tape reel i have ever heard of had film before the leader.

I don`t understand how people say that they see the reel and then say how it proves their point of it being photoshopped.......
Many people act as if this is impossible, theres been crazier stuff done, so you just automatically assume its photoshopped.

A very good job, supposing they actually did it without harnesses or ropes or stuff.
And no, this wasn`t done by Edison. It is true that painted backgrounds just like this one were widely used back then, but the film isn`t that old, that`s just the old-movie effect from WMM. Plus it jumps a lot.
SUPPOSING it is that old, the initial copyright notice is not! It was obviously added when capturing it to avi.

Ok, Faked aged, It`s recent. And if you slow it down to normal speed, it`s not better than anything you see in a circus, although I`d say that it is real.
And yes, it`s oversped, the acceleration for the falling is much higher than 10ms^-1^-1
