The most dangerous part is the transition from the chopper to the lines and vice versa. They don`t get electrocuted because they are not grounded. So the voltage circulates through them but there is no current flowing through them to the ground. It`s called "bonding on" in the trade. Not so shocking.

Very nice. It gives a very good perspective on how these high voltage lines are inspected without putting it out of service. Here in our country, people think nothing of shutting down lines for days on end to inspect and repair faults.

That requires serious balls. And the tea bag potatoe sack joke is a common Chuck Norris joke.

That`s nuts, we just learned about Faraday cages today in physics.

i work for the phone co. and i climb poles. What these guys do is in an entirely different realm. 100 ft in the air, crawling across cables carrying 100,000 volts (plenty of amps as well, i am sure)in all sorts of weather with a chain mail suit??? What? you dont get any manlier than that.

I know everyone`s mentioned how great his voice is (and I agree) but does anyone think it was fairly similar to the old guy in Shawshank Redemption? I thought they both had the same sort of quality of voice.

Well if you`re going to call him god might as well go ahead and just call him zeus...he can shoot lightning with this pole

I`m afraid of heights, but I think that would be a really cool job. You get fresh air, have a great view, etc.

Did anyone hear him at the end?
`Theres only 3 things that scare me: electricity, heights, and women........and I`m married too!`

That guy is now God...everyone okay with that??

There are 2 ways to get the same amount of electricity to places:
1) High voltage, low current.
2) Low voltage, high current.

The first is safer, easier and cheaper, so we use that method.

I watched this video in my physical science class last year, or at least a video similar. It was longer and they explained pretty much everything. It was interesting to watch.

But you couldn`t even get my corpse to go up there o_o.

His voice was soothing, and the music was great too.

On a side note, I hate physics.

"What?!? Ohm`s Law is V = IR, thus voltage and current are proportional; if one increases the other does to, assuming resistance remains the same"

YES RETARD, once I increase the voltage, resistance wont stay the same. Therefore to keep a constant resistance I would have to decrease the current.

Absolutely amazing. My grandfather used to work on telephone lines for a living. He`d climb the poles.

Saw this on a show once before, its pretty cool.

But it was said, its not as dangerous as it seems. Voltage doesn`t kill people. There is little difference to humans in 100 volts and 1 000 000 volts.

What you don`t want are amps. I forget the exact value, cause its been a while since I`ve looked at it (or watched Mythbusters :)) but all it takes is somewhere around a few tens of milliamps across the heart and you`re dead.

Not a job for a hotdog. Why? Because you can flash-fry it during your lunch break by putting it near the wires.

Oh, and why he`s not being electrocuted, he explains. He`s wearing a faraday cage. It diverts the energy away from him.

Yeah, I found his voice rather enjoyable. Really made the movie, not just the being suspended seventy feet in the air on two wires that could kill you five times over...

But really, no sarcasm, loved his voice.

Balls of steel.
