Wow, I see why might someone do this, but do you really wanna waste 20 bucks for the camera, at least 5 bucks for the wires, and obtain the skills to solder well, just so you get a really sucky digital camera? I`d just get a high quality one.

Did pricing on sites that sell the equipment he listed... around here that stuff would run me upwards of 45 bux. Then he takes into mind that everyone has a soldering iron, for the people who dont then that would cost them another 10 bux. More than half the price it would take to just buy a bottom of the line digital camera from the electronics store.

I mean, if you were a real cheap person this may be a good idea, or if you had the money and time to waste on a rainy day project. Otherwise it seems to me to be a bit silly.

Hi, let me takes pictures of you with this loud shuttered, flash enabled disposable camera...ah ha you didn`t see me do it, I`m a spy.

It`s pretty slick that somebody figured out how to do this, but realistically it does seem a bit pointless. In fact, it seems pointless that there`re such things as one-time-use digital cameras in the first place. I mean, what the hell, you know?

I think that`s great. Nice hack.

Sheesh...you guys make it sound like heart surgery. I really think this is a cool, simple little hack that eliminates the need to throw the camera in the garbage when you don`t need to (how en-vi-ro-men-ta-ly unfriendly!!), and plus, you can "stick it to the man" by re-using a digital camera that was really meant for a one time use.

You guys are assuming because the word "disposable" is used that it gets thrown in the trash.
Even a normal disposable camera doesn`t get thrown away. It`s simply a one use thing, for you that is.

Regular disposable: They take the film out, develop it, pop some more film back in and make sure the flash battery is good.

Digital disposable: They just transfer your pics to their server, print them off. Then delete and reset the camera settings.

This is a neat idea to know, but it`s only worth it if you have the few tools you need, then you might as well do it.

I despise ompanies who try to make reoccurin gmoney off technology by trying to limit the technology. The companies deserve this hack, those greedy dumb drats.

if they can make a digital camera that cheap, then just sell it like it is, sheesh. Why try to steal and rape consumers, by adding false limits, gah i hate the world.

ewitsmana: OR you could go down to your local low cost store, pick up a 1.3MP camera for $20-$40 bucks and not have to spend any more on the cables which someone pointed out on the first page was more than $5.

sertrbl: the disposable camera is a great idea, especially for people who need one really quick, don`t need to worry about losing it, or forget their camera and don`t want to buy one.

It`s only an "evil" way to make money if someone is retarded enough to buy a disposable camera again and again and again without investing in a real film or digital camera.

    Same here.

Talk about some Jack Bauer poo. I half expected him to say once the wires are attached you have 30 seconds before self destruction. Besides, there are plenty of decent cameras out there for cheap. One of my first digital cameras was a 3 pixel for $20 from Walmart. I find myself using that more than my piece of poo Cannon that I paid a couple of hundred for.

I believe the point is, if you get ahold of one of these, or if you bought a disposable for WHATEVER reason, you don`t have to return it to the store. If you`re in a pinch (camera is broke or stolen, forgot to bring it, no, or dead, batteries) and end up with a disposable digital, here`s a way to keep from wasting MORE money.
Yes, you could run to your local low-cost electronics place, but why do that, when you can go to a drugstore (they`re on nearly every corner anyway). It`s a convenience factor.

Bravo, I say, but only for this post. To the rest of the stupid MetaCafé posts, I call b/-s (at least to the ones up to now).
