One thing though... who would use voice recognition for scripting...? Maybe if you were writing a memo or something where speed is possibly better than quality... But with scripting, I`d think you`d want as much accuracy as possible...
I noticed he wasn`t trying obvious alternate commands. Even though I have no clue what the commands are, common sense tells you to use synonyms of the words you`re currently using to try and get the computer to do what you want it to. Right?
Yea, I`m full of BS.
And could anyone tell me what kind of code that is? *Is clueless.*
i would use it. would be great for reports for school. read off your paper and correct grammer and punctuation after. he was trying to do too many things with it.
First of all, he didn`t know how to use it properly, he kept mixing up the commands. Second, he probably didn`t program it first (the comp needs to learn your voice). Third, it looked like his comp totally sucked, he was using Vista in a totally crappy resolution.
I`d rather type stuff out then have to deal with that.. besides you`re just sitting there, might as well get your typing skills up to par, anyone can talk.
OMFG...that was awesome. I loved how the software kept picking up all the stuff he said under his breath, like "thank you" and even his audible sighs...those were printed as "F" or "if". XD
Oh yea that`s REALLY easy to use.. Press capital "i".. Delete "i".. Press capital "i"..DELETE "i"!! Duude I would just love to be in the room laughing at him.
I`ve tried to use speech recognition software with very similar results. There is a set of stories that you`re supposed to read to let the computer get used to your voice. The problem is that it takes literally hours to read all of them and then the chances are that it will do the same thing.
Well I use a MAC, and when I broke my arm I used this to help me type. It also opens windows and closes them for you. I wonder why Microsoft could not get it to work properly considering MAC`s have been doing this for years.
i don`t see why they needed this feature because they now how bad it was i mean they needed to fix it but instead just kept in on there and hope for the best
Though I haven`t tried Microsoft`s program, I have tried Dragon Naturally Speaking and it IS immensely helpful for writing long documents or essays - but trying to code with it is just utterly stupid.
And of course, it would help if he actually knew the commands.
THAT was hilarious. XD Like, was, was he not sarcastic in the beginning? When he was like, "I`m gonna show you how easy this is," was he being serious?
*cough* the day have come for me to say something about Vista that isnt totally bashing on it ... *put a X on the calendar*
This is not a program dedicated for voice recognition, and seriously, its not made for coding. Its made for people who want to write text and cant, like for say, imagine you lost your hand... or imagine they get tired very fast, or you have artritis (sp? the bone disease that make them hard and painful to move)
That was probably made by a Mac fan, or at least someone who didnt liked Vista. It was obvious it was there JUST to make you think its doesnt worth anything good, making it do difficult task and making it harder so the program look like a fool.
Like people trow Wii controller in TV to make people scared (there NO WAY they can broke the Wiimote little wire unless you are a alien with extra force... or because you wasnt wearing the little cord and want to blame the Wiimote insteed)
There are actually people who use voice recognition software religiously. My uncle basically earns his living off of ebay, but he`s got really really awful arthritis on top of fibromyalgia, soooo he kind of needs this stuff to work.
Speech recognition is not meant for writing code or scripts. It is basically meant for writing text. A lot of it. Of course it will be painful to use for writing scripts.
From what I have seen, the speech recognition seems only about average, which is what to expect from a non dedicated program.
i am a hardcore macfan but...i have to say that this is only slightly below average for voice recognition software. most of them are just as crappy as this one.
OK, I would just say that this is a fault on Microshafts part, but the truth is that voice recognition was not meant to be for programming. And just for the record, I have a Mac.
It`s obviously a joke. He deliberately kept the microphone open when he was muttering to himself, knowing that the voice regognition device would try to pick up those indistinctly uttered words.
He didn`t know how to use it properly. I`m assuming the program is meant for people with a disability that doesn`t allow them to type. And ick, windows
the voice recognition thingy is set to recognize your voice and pronunciations of words, so it doesn`t really matter who`s or how it`s being pronounced.
The software was retarded. It couldn`t differenciate between commands and what to type. Which I really think is nearly impossible to do at this moment...
Windows XP with Office 2003 or later has this too. (under TOOLS-->SPEECH in Word...other applications too). I`m a terrible typist, and thought "oooh, this will be so much faster". I was wrong. So wrong. This really hit home. I really did laugh out loud (LOL is so over used--I doubt most who type it really did) Anyway, try it yourself, if you really are bored.
Not that I`m defending the system, but half the guy`s problems stemmed from saying things like "thank you" to his computer. I would think it`s obvious that one would need to be extra careful to reduce extraneous noise input when using any kind of voice recognition software...
Anyway. Vista, fails pretty hard IMO. Not only can I get programs for XP that allow it to do just about what ever Vista can do, but it`s far more stable. I`ll give Vista about a year or two before I even look at the box, like the PS3.
Hey, it`s better than most voice recognition(sp?)software i`ve seen. As xboxman said, why do you need it unless you`re "working out, playing a video game, brushing your teeth, and eating all at the same time... " I`d like to see Mac do a better job. And so began the Mac VS. PC War. Both suck, but Mac`s are for p**sy`s.
This is funny...I`m glad voice recognition fails. I`m old fashioned and would rather use my hands to write a card or a keyboard to type and email. So yea.
Lol i have windows vista, and unless im working out, playing a video game, brushing my teeth, and eating all at the same time... i dont think there really is much use for this in the first place. Who cares if its great. Its a small leap into something microsoft never really does... and they did O.K. at it.
But seriously... nobody uses this in the first place.
One thing though... who would use voice recognition for scripting...? Maybe if you were writing a memo or something where speed is possibly better than quality... But with scripting, I`d think you`d want as much accuracy as possible...

and also what was he trying to write?
I think my dad thinks I`m a psycho.
I was trying to hold in my laughter so much. Haha.
Microsoft sucks...
Yay Mac!
"this has got to be a joke"
Sorry, it IS a joke.
so [email protected]#$%^&*()+_ funny
Yea, I`m full of BS.
And could anyone tell me what kind of code that is? *Is clueless.*
hilarious though
XD
haha
OMGSH I havent laughed so hard ever!
*deep breath*
ohhh that was great. classic entertainment
^^ hilarious
that was pretty funny though, considered not upgrading to vista for a second
Maybe i`ll get a vista in a couple of years. Wait for all those nerds to iron out the kinks.
and there really isn`t any voice recognition that works that well, and nothing that works if you don`t knwo the commands
http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm...
And of course, it would help if he actually knew the commands.
And it`s not this bad if you actually bother to do the training. Idiots.

Maybe a macbook pro or something like that.
From what I have seen, the speech recognition seems only about average, which is what to expect from a non dedicated program.
And I`m perfectly content at the moment having my XP LOOK like Vista (since I only want the thing because it`s shiny o_o). Yay WindowBlinds.
XD
That guy was an idiot... He should practice using that..."
so you need to be an expert to use this, which makes it more useless
Educated people should know enough not to try programming with VR software!!
I`m assuming the program is meant for people with a disability that doesn`t allow them to type.
And ick, windows
The software was retarded. It couldn`t differenciate between commands and what to type. Which I really think is nearly impossible to do at this moment...
And the video made me laugh out loud. :)
Educated people have no problem using voice recognition.
Macs still suck. And name their OS` after random zoo animals. Yeah...
u can teach it to understand your voice.
That guy was an idiot... He should practice using that b4 he tries to put it on video.
And what about people with speech defects?
This world is too stupid to go on. *puts gun to head; clicks; no bullet fires* Aww... ma-an.
That fails.
Anyway. Vista, fails pretty hard IMO. Not only can I get programs for XP that allow it to do just about what ever Vista can do, but it`s far more stable. I`ll give Vista about a year or two before I even look at the box, like the PS3.
