What`s fake about this? They weren`t claiming what they did was an outlaw act, they still threw dynamite in the water, and the guy was glutting the wave,it may have been a stunt for a film or publicity, but that was a real percussion wave in the water from some kind of explosion. Cool as hell.

Come on people....of course its fake, just think about it for a minute. Where would they get the dynamite in the first place? If it did happen, surely it would have been on the news (especially in todays political climate), you wouldnt get the froth on the waves (like you do in the ocean) and do you honestly think Quicksilver would be advertised by urban terrorists that blow up goldfish for a living??....please tell me all the people questioning it are joking :/

I can get dynamite, any contractor can, It is a stunt, but to say it is photoshopped, or spliced is ridiculous, the act is real, it was probably done with permission. Anyone with a demo license can get dynamite, all it costs is background check and 500 dollars. Not to say this wasn`t organized and done with planning and permission, that part is fake, but you guys are saying that this is a special effect, you are nuts. It is a stunt, and a real stunt, not CGI. I really don`t care if they did it with legality. I am sure that these are not urban terrorist, more like ad execs planning a stunt, but don`t try and tell me this is CGI.

Quick question: why has everyone assumed that this is a real Quiksilver ad? Just becasuse there is a shot at the end of the Quiksilver logo does NOT just automatically make it an ad for them, surely? Maybe people have seen it on TV, well then that`s fine, but this is the first I saw of it, and my immediate thought at the end when I saw the logo was "Well I`m sure Quiksilve aren`t going to be too happy about these kids sticking their logo on the end of this" Just a small point suppose, but may make some of the arguments a little pointless! :-P

To all the fakers: I never seen CG that could totally have me confused. Can someone direct me to the rendering program that creates waves that function seamlessly with the surfer, or how they did the dynamite bit?

I didn`t believe that it was `real` in the sense that some kids decided to do this. I thought the effects upon the water were real.

WhereDidItGo, you`re on the right lines mate...

To get that kind of UNDERWATER explosion, you`d use a depth charge of some description. Then it would have the charge enclosed or have an electrical ignition.

Would have been more convincing if he wasn`t standing on the bridge waving it around first...it couldnt be any more fake...

to all the people that believe the water would have put out the fuse, are you fu.cking kidding me??? are you seriously telling me you`ve never thrown a firecracker into a pond? there are such things as waterproof fuses, in fact, they`re so common, they COME ON CHEAP ASS FIRECRACKERS YOU CAN GET IN GROCERY STORES!!! and yes, they work, just throw one into a pond or lake if you don`t believe me and be ready to stick your lips to my ass.

And after only watching it once, and before i read all this crap, i believe it`s real. I don`t care if it was done legally or illegally, by ad execs or by people just throwing the quicksilver logo at the end of a video they made. I honestly believe, at first opinion, that the dynamite and water and wave were all done in real time. And the people throwing out that it`s CG...when have you ever seen CG that damn good? Even big budget movies can`t get CG to look that good, you think Quicksilver can?

alright, i`ve watched it 6 more times and pull full attention to everything i could put my eye on. i still believe it`s real. if it`s not, then hat`s off to the people who made it, somebody finally fooled me and they deserve to be in the movie business. but i don`t think it`s fake. and i do believe that 3 sticks of dynamite could definitely produce an explosion and wave like that. and it`s very, very easy to get your hands on dynamite. if you think about it, half of one stick of dynamite placed in a hole drilled into a mountain can take a considerable chunk off it, just ask any miner or someone who searches for gemstones.

    1. if it is real, and it is a real quicksilver ad, they do not have to admit their involvement. they could just say that it was sent to them by an anonymous source.

    2. it would have made the papers.. it didn`t.. there is literally no argument that could refute that aside from "it was invisible to everyone but the 5 people involved"

    3. stop bit ching.. who cares if it is fake. it is still cool and should be taken as such. not flamed because you think it is fake.

    From http://ekstrabladet.dk/nyheder/samfund/article269075.ece:

...An amateur-video recording in doubtful quality has created violent discussion on various internet pages. Are the recordings real, have the roots permission to blow up the lake in the air, and who are "the perpetrators" behind the stunt?...Quicksilver, taking creidt for the video, has said "Yes, we have to do with the film...it`s already popular on many Danish and foreign sites." He`ll reveal later whether the film is real, or whether it`s clean computer technology. But he maintains that there aren`t made anything illegal in connection with the film. At the police one doesn`t know of the video, but informs that it isn`t probable that there is given permission to a dynamite-detonation in a lake in the middle of Copenhagen.

First of all to the person who mentioned they would be in trouble under the patriot act, about 5 people said it took place outside of the US, you are an idiot.

Second of all to the person who mentioned oh my god you can`t get dynamite, it`s actually extremely easy to make and buy it, places like homedepot sell it in some states for construction work, also in countries like Russia I`m sure you can pick it up at a flea market.

Thirdly to the people that mentioned it wasn`t enough explosives, it`s kind of dependant honestly, but it would seem resonable, one mentioned you would need something the size of a depth carge, this person is an idiot, most of the videos around of depth charge explosions are shot from a mile away, so they seem small, the reality is a depth charge would take out an entire block, and the explosion here is just the size of an olympic swimming pool. The person in question must suffer from blindness.

Finally to the person who said the fuse would go out:

You are 7 years old, congradulations on playing with matches! Next it should be an important goal of yours to realize that most fuse sold today is made of a metalic substance and is 100% waterpoof.

Now, combining my knowlege of explosives, graphics and people in general, I am going to say that 100% of the idiocies comming from the people here IS stemming from the fact the video is fake, but this is just an oppertunity for the typical moron (probably hillbilies :) ), to show how much their life is wrong and drated up by trying to explain why it is fake.

Case in point the exact place where the video comes into doubt is the switch from the MIST just after the explosion to the wave, the shot seems to "blink" and change angels almost subliminally, this gives typical people an oppertunity to show how moronic they are but also allows them to identify it is fake, which it seems to be.

My asertion is that the video is a composite of real events...

Real Surfing, real setting off dynamite in a lake or ocean, and real kids running around a city throwing a smoking thing into a lake.

However it is unlikley that all these events happened at the same time.

    A) It is a commercial. So it is not hardcore.

    B) It is fake. Dynamite floats. The bundle - as shown - would have blown on the top of the surface which would barely move enough water to cause ripples...much less a surfable.

    C) Still a cool commercial.

sprink you idiot... there is no white out, that is what most logical people like to call mist. Also, while there is the wave and he is surfing, you can see the same scenery in the background.

If you can tell me exactly how you could fake something like this without million dollar hollywood editors, then I will believe you. Until then shove your opinion up your ass and keep it there.

Nicely done fake, but you can tell its not real just by the direction the waves are forming, plus, that charge they threw into the water wouldn`t create the amount of waves in the video.
