i just thought of something... do you think there`s a whole other universe in side every atom? and our universe itself could be a single atom in a whole other dimension? it makes you wonder just how small we are...

i don`t understand how scientists can say all that happened by chance and started from nothing. no way!! to me this just proves that god exists and created us all.

I have a feeling this is going to turn into a religion vs science thread very soon.

Darn, I wanted to see string theory. Even so, that was pretty neat. Wow, I really am a dork XP

er, they still included pluto in the orbit views. not saying i agree with pluto`s demotion; just saying. and yes, a microscope wouldnt be strong enough for the atomic level

theres this one thing, called a string, that they think make up atoms or something like that. i dont know if they are smaller than quarks, but i think they are. the string theory is really long and complicated, and i dont know much about it, but its on wikipedia

Do a search on Youtube for `Powers of 10` by Eames. It has a very good narration to go with it.

Carl Sagan once said a similar thing. We may just be an elementary particle in another universe.

And then we find out that atoms are actually mini-universes, and the quarks are galaxies, and then there are smaller particles which are solar systems, and smaller particles which are planets, and smaller particles which are organisms on those planets, and smaller particles that make up the cells of those organisms, and then it starts all over. That would be insane. It`s really fascinating when you think about the similarities between an atom, a solar system, a galaxy, etc. Who`s to say that we`re not living in an atom that makes up a gigantic human?

"My brain hurts. That was so amazing! BTW, gonads, you`d need a microscope to see atoms, not a telescope."

u tit no microscope could becuase the wavelength of the electron is larger than the entire nucleus thus gamma rays with ridiculously small wavelengths could be used but these would be highly irradiating and penatrating so its impossible

howd they know where to find earth all the way through the milky way,
and how did they know what all that looked like from that view?
interesting

My first thought: Holy crap, are we ever small.

Next thought: Well, compared to the DNA strands and the teensy little atoms we`re humongous.

Final thought: Hey, that was pretty cool.

I gave it a 4. Pretty sweet!

Pretty cool stuff there. Reminds me of the couch scene in the simpsons, where it goes out to examine the entire universe, which somehow becomes one strand of hair.

They need to make a telescope that can see atoms, then it would be cooler.

Oh my god. That REALLY puts things in perspective! I love love love science and THAT is the things I love to see. We are a speck of a speck of a speck of a FREAKING SPECK in this universe! Awsome link, love to see more like that.
