if ne was lucky his first one would work and an Xbox 360 would come out of nowhere right into his hands and 50 games with it and 100`000$

Man, he was so close to the water. But then again he could have drowned or get killed by the surface tension.

So I`m guessing the bushes act as a form of a giant pillow for him?

Thank God he was still alive afterwards. What exactly kept him alive anyway? That impact looking deadly, I thought he was dead for sure...

He is lucky because he lived, not because his `chutes failed.

you know...a lot of you people are fu.cking retarded. he`s lucky because he LIVED!!! ...morons

So in order to be lucky you have to be unlucky first?

Male 449
He was almost simeultaneously unbelievelbly unlucky, and unbelievably lucky. The odds for both the chute failing, and the safe landing were extremely low. But he did walk away from it, so I say hes more lucky than unlucky.

"No"

That was really good. Does anyone know how high up he started. I know that there is a certain height that you have to be above but do a lot of skydivers vary. Either way, that`s lucky.

His chute was partially open for those of you wondering how he survived at all. Still, at that speed from that heigh he still would have died if he`d landed on solid ground. The only reason he`s alive is he happened to hit a bunch of thorny bushes, which I suppose is preferable under the circumstances.

The first Chute got tangled when deployed he tried t ocut tit free but it was still tangled on something. The first Chute gave him some drag and he didn`t deploy his second staright cause it could have hit the first one and collapsed which would have taken the drag away he waited until he was closer then deployed 2nd chute. The 2nd collapsed as well. The thick Blackberry bushes cushioned his fall. About 10yrs ago the same place was a dumping ground for cars and rubbish. He fractured his ankle and puntured a lung. Quite remarkable considering how far he fell.

If the story was "skydiver has wonderful flight, lands in garden, finds long lost father, who is a billionaire, and lives happily ever after" THEN I could understand the headline "luckiest skydiver alive", but THIS guy??!!

If he was that damn luck the parachute would have worked on the first try. I take that back, If he was that damn lucky God would have given him the sense to not go up there in the first place.

this is the only reason i don`t like my dad skydiving. I know the odds are ridiculously unlikely, but still. If he ever dies because of skydiving, i`m jumping out a plane without a chute. hopefully, i wont live like this guy did

incredible, lucky he landed in the brush, I`m assuming it softened the fall a little.

Hansbo

If you read the ehading it says, "both his main chute and his backup chute fail on him."

Meaning, he did have them, yes.
But by the way he was spinning, it showed that they were tangled.

Horrible though.

lucky meaning most would have died in that situation
but anyway im kinda confused.. did he not die because his parachute slightly opened and at least slowed him down some? because no one could survive falling that much at full velocity

how horrible.. i had an adreniline rush just watching it!

yeah seriously... how could he be considered lucky when compared with the millions of skydivers whose chutes deploy successfully?

no, he`s not the luckiest skydiver ever. A lucky one would have their parachute open properly the first time.

This guy`s lucky for that, though.

w/o seeing it, you`d think he was unlucky b/c it says "Luckiest skydiver" and then says both chutes failed him.

Saw this on news the other day, I remember how the anchors looked after it was showed. They had some blank "woah" expression on their face. And no, the second one didn`t really fail, it just tangled (that`s why you bring a knife to cut off the first chute!)

if he is lucky, I don`t want his luck at all. 2/3 is pretty bad in my book, I don`t want the 33% chance of good luck in my life.

His parachutes were improperly packed or improperly deployed in the wind and go tangled. They were probably working at 40% or so of course that`s an estimate. It`s not true "faliure" it`s just damage like a plane having it`s left wing blown clean off. :)
Lucky guys all things considered.
