But other than that, interesting link. Not many people know that other than his interest in relentless killings, he had an artistic side.

    Sehr interessant.

hmm, I `d actually buy #16 the rest were average... I dont really care who painted it... although that would be an interesting ice breaker

"Yeah and if you come into my livingroom i have an original Hitler work"

"You mean Adolf Hitler, that Nazi guy from Germany?"

    "Thats the one!"

"Wow...umm you do know that I`m Jewish right?"

I seem to recall that a bunch of Hitler`s artwork was sold at an auction a few months back, but all of the paintings that I saw from that were really sucky. Some of these actually aren`t that bad. At least he had his perspective down well.

You know, I don`t think they`re bad, either.
One of those moral issues is "If you could go back in time and kill Adolf Hitler, would you do it?"
    Why so complicated?
I would just go to that art school and say "When Adolf Hitler comes in here any minute, for heavens sake, accept him!!!"

They`re really not bad. I read somewhere that the reason given for not accepting him wasn`t that he was a bad artist, he was trained and knew what he was doing. The reason given was that he seemed more interested the architecture of what he was painting, then in the actual subject. Basically, they felt that they could train him in art until the cows came home, and no matter how technically amazing his paintings were it would be clear from looking at them that he was no artist.

Being a mediocre artist, not from lack of artistic ability, but from lack of professional training, I`d have to agree. Then again, I don`t remember where I heard/read that, and it could just be a bunch of junk that someone just made up. In fact is probably was, maybe something that some artist guessed on recently? I should just stop talking now...

    Hindsight is always 20/20.

How were the artschool people supposed to know that their actions would lead to millions of deaths a few decades later? Don`t judge them too harshly, I`m sure at the time they were doing their jobs and I`m also sure most here would have done the same.

A notable quatrain (Century 2, Quatrain 24) reads:

Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers,
The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister.
Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn,
When the child of Germany observes nothing.

bram hit the nail on the head.

"no matter how technically amazing his paintings were it would be clear from looking at them that he was no artist"

This is exactly it. They`re mundane, boring and very unimaginative. His style lacks any interest at all, and they`re not creative or colourful enough to be artistic. If you`re a painter, you paint because you *love* painting, and if you love something passionately, it`s likely you`ll quickly become very goot at it. Hitler was more interested in the buildings themselves, not in actually painting them, so it`s not surprising his pictures are nothing special to look at from an artistic point of view.

That was a really good movie. Has anyone seen it other than Cricket and I?

"we should bring hitler back to life just to kick him in the balls"

One of the most annoying comments I`ve heard about Hitler. I`d rather sit and chat with him, ask him if his views have changed. Kicking him in the balls is just a silly idea. Are you in seventh grade?

even if he HAD been accepted, he still might have become dictator..

and minus the terrible cost of life, there were several good results from the war; it pulled America from depression by providing jobs, thus propelling America towards Superpower status, it advanced technology... You probably would not have internet or even a computer if it weren`t for the fact that technology nearly always advances in times of war!

Some of the most disturbed people are amazingly talented in some way. If someone, in his life had boosted his ego to go into an artistic direction, the world would be very different. Just goes to show, the actions of one, though they may seem insignificant, have lasting affects that no one can determine. If we all just gave each other a chance and were kind, so much evil would be irradicated. Now, just imagine the potential of the people you pick on or demean. You could be sowing the seeds for that person to end up causing death and mayhem. Or, you could do the right thing and be the one person who turns them from that path by being respectful and kind. Think about it.

Hitler would have possibly still have done the horrible things that he did, Because of nationalism. He was very patriotic to Germany, even as an austrian. He wasnt the only person who felt that the jewish peoples caused the loss of war for Germany.

Also, even though Hitler didnt make it into art school, he did continue to paint. that was his source of income along with the cash he got from being an orphan first when his father died. once his mother died of cancer, he had to/decided (not sure) to split it with his sister. Hitler was also busy doing other small jobs to try to support himself. so, even if he made it into art school, theres a possibility that he would have stumbled across the things he actually did stumble across, and go the same path.

Hitler was not accepted into art school because of his `unfitness for painting`. they told him he would be better in the field of architecture. The problem was that he could go into that field because he lacked proper schooling from a...

building trade school, which he also couldnt go to because he did not finish high school due to the fact that he decided to give up on it when his father bashed on him about him becoming an artist.

Now to what hitler did. Yes, The path in which he took was terribly bad. BUT, if it wasnt for him, we would not be where we are today. Its hard to explain what exactly hitler did to better the world, but one example would be euthanization of peoples with disabilities. Hitler/Germany wasnt the only country to kill off people because of how they were, and wasnt the only country to put them thru horrific studies. The US, and Canada for example for a period of time were also killing off mentally challenged and other challenged peoples, because it was excepted. If it wasnt for hitler going overboard on that whole concept, its possible that other countries wouldnt have banned it for plus years later.

Now for how his artwork actually looks
Postcard art.which ironically, is what he did to get

What the hell, those were one of the best galleries of artwork I`ve ever seen. People just say they`re bad because of him and what he did. Forget about it y`all, it happened in the past and we got over it.

Am I the only one that wouldn`t mind having one of these paintings?
Imagine the look on everyone`s face when you say "You know, Hitler painted that."

Not that I`m particularly fond of Hitler, his actions were horrible and inexcusable, but hey, a painting is a painting. And not a bad painting at that!

Hitler wasn`t accepted to an art school... another reason he became an angry man. Hey, he draws better than the usual people.

They really weren`t bad. There were two that I thought were quite lovely. I think if you showed this to people without telling them who did it, they would say the artist had some talent. Hell, I hate Picasso, yet he`s considered a great artist. In art, its all a matter of each person`s perspective.
