""Wii SUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!I am getting a PS3.even though for me it was a close between PS3 & Xbox360"Exactly what I`d expect a female to say.
If you didn`t notice, Nintendo`s console is like 3 times cheaper than either the PS3 or 360, plus its aiming for gameplay, not graphics.
Do your research before you judge on one viewing alone."
A female, huh? And I bet that you think we`ll be too busy judging controllers because we`re painting our nails. Next time you make a decision that it happened only because a female did it, read the many posts of guys saying they like it based of graphics alone.
Got a wii too but can`t play it till x mas.
ninty`s wiimote and nunchuk combo: 3 axis of sensing each, meaning it knows whether its tipped forward or back, side to side up and down, theres about 5 million odd positions it can detect
PS3: barely even senses movement, and i havent seen a single game that uses it well or at all
play zelda, its like you are actually holding links sword or hook shot or whatever, wii sports, in boxing it follows your moves exactly. now THAT makes something lifelike, graphics, don`t.
i had an xbox and it was absolutely crap, so i swapped it for a gamecube and it has been great.
XBox 360 has 3.2 GHz PowerPC with 3 dual-threaded processor cores and 3.2 GHz Cell processor with 7 single-threaded processing units cores (which are not directly comparable anyway). Besides that RAM and such are very nearly identical for both, and I still don`t get why everyone is wowed by the big numbers of cores the PS3 has.. Which are single instead of dual and not comparable anyway. I just think X360 and PS3 will probably even have some games that look better on one throughout their life depending on what system the development team intentionally or otherwise focuses on making beautiful. So it comes down to other stuff than technology for me.
And I used to think that I just needed a computer and of course when Half-Life Episode 2 comes out or if I want to play a strategy game, I`ll still use it quite a bit but games like Dead Rising and awesome to play on HDTV and the controller works good for it. (Probably a good idea to get rid of black and white buttons.)
"Wii is defiantly made for gameplay and fun, if I want graphics I have a computer."
Exactly my point!
I am probably the one of the few on this forum that doesn`t own a new system yet, but I do know quite a bit for each of the systems.
Each is different and unique, the PS3 with insane power and Blue-Ray drives, X-Box with great graphical capabilty and FPS`s (though, the PS3 could outshine it, it was not so apparent in this video), and then there is the Wii.
The Wii is a new perspective on how to play your games, which is purely fun. Sure, it will not get you with it`s sub-par (with PS3 and X-Box 360 setting it) graphics, but what is has on its side is innovation.
To me, innovation is what keeps me from playing my P.C. (which I must say, can graphically match or beat any of the consoles anyway) all day, and this is what the videogame industry sorely needed, a fresh way to play and enjoy gaming.
+A work, Nintendo.
For a while now, I`ve been thinking that I probably won`t get a PS3 until it`s extremely dirt cheap and actually works. If I ever decide to get one.
The 360 though, screw that. I had too much trouble with the Xbox to bother with them again. Maybe another 10 years down the road when they`ve actually figured out what they`re doing. Their controllers are horrible..
Anyway, if I want nice graphics, I do have a computer. Not that I care about graphics. I`m a huge mud fan after all. :)
As for PS3 and Xbox 360, I think that the hardware is so different it`s hard to compare (apples to oranges) but I`d guess from what I`ve seen it looks about equal. And it seems most people think Xbox 360 graphics in games are better ATM.. PS3 will likely catch up in some time, but I doubt that it`ll have noticable performance differences. And unless you really like Blu-Ray it might not be worth the money. =( I`d rather have Xbox Live than Blu-Ray but oh well.
but not $600 worth of `better`
Though the PS3 would have probably reigned supreme if they had more time to work with it and pushed everything to its limits.
I also noticed that the Wii had a bad picture, it didn`t seem like intentional graphics but a refresh rate issue or something. I saw screen tearing and blockiness.
And as those who say it`s not about the graphics, I love old games, of course, but there`s just something awesome and immersive about playing Half-Life 2 on a good computer or seeing the incredible detail possible in games like Dead Rising. (You can spend 10 minutes looking around at the shelves of some of the stores in that game if you get the chance, and all the stores in the mall are different.) But gameplay is most important factor and just like there`s different game genres, I can very much enjoy a simple game and turn around and be wowed by amazing graphics later. Who says art and games can`t be combined? =)
If I wanted to look at pretty pictures, I would go to an art gallery. Not a PS3 or Xbox360. I don`t care about graphics as long as I can tell what the thing on the screen is. Fun trumps all other categories, at which the Wii excels.
WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! Can`t beat a Wii. Total Sega/Nintendo fan. (Yay Sonic 2006!)
With Twilight Princess, Wii has the best new game of the Decade. Nintendo has once again reinvented the way you play video games.
With it`s insane processing power, PS3 will look better than eihter of the others. Suck it up X-Box fan Boys, it has 8 processers and the hardware is superior, it looks better and there is nothing you can do or say to change that. Also, someone said PS didn`t have a problem with broken units when PS2 was released. That is only in your world, on earth, everyone has a problem with PS2 eventually, and my first PS was broken when I took it out of the box.
X-Box has the best online play and audio options at this point. They also have some extremely cool games that won`t be on the other 2 systems like Fight Night and Halo. Don`t know about Marvel ultimate alliance on other systems, but that game is great on 360.
I`m own a wii, and I may buy an 360.
Yup I`m getting the game system.
You sir, are an idiot.
Your telling me you`d rather stare at a TV that looked pretty, and then be bored with it in 10 seconds and get tired of boring gameplay, rather than stare at a decent looking TV and be entertained for hours at a time?
360 definatly kicked everyones ass graphic wise, and it doesn`t cost 600$ and then 100$ a game, for `blu-ray` which almost no TVs can see anyway.
Whoever bought a PS3, grats on being scammed, if you think a Wii sucks, you dont deserve to have a console in the first place, graphics dont mean it`s a great game, i`d rather have fun doing something than staring at a screen that was pretty and I got bored of.
Seriously, this comparison heavily favors the 360.
The Wii can`t compete in pure graphical grunt at it`s price point, and is admittedly going for a totally different experience/audience.
The PS3 has more raw power than the 360. However, devs are still learning how to optimize their games for the system. It does have a distinct disadvantage in comparison to the year-old 360.
The difference should be mitigated in about 6-8 months, in which you will see the PS3 surpass the 360 in pure shininess.
Of course, A high-end PC is roughly equivilent to a 360/PS3 right now and in a year or so will put them both to shame.
So for me, the Wii is the only attractive option because I don`t need another PC-like machine. Most people don`t have the luxury of nice computers though, so the cheaper 360s/PS3s might be good in those situations.
games are to play, not to stare at, who cares if they are "real-life" or not?
And then blame Microsoft for it?
its 10% graphics, 60% gameplay, 20% audio, and 10% story.
a.k.a. the wii ftw.
its cheaper and more fun (hence the wii vs. ps3 a while back).
so, if you are going to buy a console this season, buy them in this order of priority.
in that order.
One thing they missed out on the video is who has a bigger smile on their face while playing it. lol
nicole, i used to work at FYE and we had a LOT of people returning their 360s. So 360 was probably off worse than the PS3 is at launch. The PS3s big deal was the amount. 360 would freeze a lot and just die on you.
even if it is not as powerful as its competitors, it is still much more innovative.
In the graphics department, the Xbox 360 wins. PS3 looked too light. The 360 looked more realistic.
For the price they are charging for the PS3, I would get a 360. They are pretty much the same graphics wise, but the 360 has moew games out (such as Gears of War).
Everyone wants a Wii, just to try out the Wiimote.
Look like Sony think we are very patient.
anyway,Then there is the "Wii" fun, good for EVERYONE (no longer for kids only) which have my grandma having same fum as my little cousin. And more "mature" game too (aka animated blood blablabla)less graphic but one day they understood people want to have fun. Graphic passed second.
I played the 3, and i stick with the Wii.I was use to be a PS fangirl, but its over.
And yes, i do play PC games alot too, but I think console games have a little something more that i cant resist >.>;
*open the Wii and satisfy her craving for Twilight princess*
yeah, we are all fan-boy/girl to a extends. I got VERY deseapointed by the Xbox360, mostly got the lack of games and the unstability of the system. Returning you console does suck, but burning the rug and ruining games disk are even worst.
the PS3 was damn expensive, whit a shortage (which is a new idea totally ridiculous) whit a "copy cat" technology from the Revolution for the controler motion what ever. Not to mention sony drated the europeen gaming Closed the biggest and better service for europeen gaming
For two, everyone knows that the PC owns all consoles in terms of capability, gaming or otherwise. Is it really a coincidence that all consoles have taken to modelling themselves after the PC?
I`d rather not pay insane amounts for a game system that cannot even play most of the games from previous systems. Backwards compatibility FTW.
Also: PS3 and Xbox360 only look that good on hi-def tvs. The average person`s tv will make games harder to play because of small text.
The difference between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 is that the Xbox 360 has good shading, giving more contrast to the colors. The PS3 seems to be very bright and doesnt have the same shading giving it less contrast.
Anyways, whatever anyone thinks, i`m with the N all the way.
This is about the first time I`ve ever been interested enough in more than one console. I think in the long run the 360 will end up offering the least of the 3 (no motion sensitivity, lack of blu-ray etc etc.), and it`s only doing so well because of its head start. The others look ace, though.
Damnit, I might have to do something as drastic as getting a job do feed my gaming habits.
It wasent fair to have the wii there for comparison tho. Its a totally different sytem.
Exactly what I`d expect a female to say.
Do your research before you judge on one viewing alone.
Anyway, I`m actually more eager to see how Nintendo harnesses this development scenario; it`s their `revolution,` afterall, that I am the most enthusiastic about joining...
Uh, 360`s been out for over a year, and PS3 just came out; and awibble has an undeniable point, especially considering the PS3 runs on 2 terraflops, whereas the 360 halted at 1.6. It`s what you do with the graphics that matters (I`ve seen N64 games that look better than even some of what Nintendo`s doing right now), and with more capacity the ball`s of course in Sony`s court to maximize that potential. That is why I am not buying either right now, but if I were to I`d probably get the 360 after seeing that review, simply for the interest of sheer instant-gratification. That`s really cool that you can motion-activate the PS3 controls to a certain degree, and in the very paramaters that so many of us have struggled to exploit since the days of our first Nintendo racing-game; can`t wait to see how Gran Turismo feels while taking those tight corners!
Wasnt making excuses, but its a fact that graphics get better over time, which helps for the 360 at the moment.
I think in a year, a much better review will come out. Sony has paved the way for consolses ith the PS1 and PS2, and they are doing it again with the PS3. Lets face it, the Gamecube pretty much sucked, and untill the Xbox, most people would only buy a PS2, because it was the best.
If you have the money buy all 3, the X360 will give you the great graphics untill the PS3 catches up. The wii will give you the gameplay that you want. and the PS3 will give you a good mix of both, with the graphics improving all the time.
Its a pretty safe bet, that the PS3 will get better, sony haven`t let us down on quality before, an i firmly belive that the graphics when they have had the same development time, will match if not out rank the x360.
The other thing that people seem to be forgetting, is that the PS3`s controller is also motion sensitive, they just arent making a big thing out of it like Wii is, infact, ive only seen it mentioned a few times. A little way into the trailer you can see this, on the 360 you have to press LT and RT over and over, on the PS3 you have to move the controller left and right, and on the wii you do a similar move.
Which gives the best gameplay, well thats upto you, but i think the PS3 will be the best.
If you search around you can find a
Boot up you PS2 and look at the graphics on the orginal metal gear solid. Now stick in Metal gear solid 3, the graphics are far far better. Why? because they had learnt more about how to use the graphics engine when metal gear 3 came out.
Heres a couple of screen shots...Metal Gear Solid http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:MGS_s...
Metal Gear Solid 3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:MgsCa...
Notice how the textures are very flat in the first one, compared with the depth of snake eater (metal gear 3) Theres a huge difference.
Now going back to PS3 vs X360 vs Wii...
The Wii`s graphics are not that great, you can see that stright off, developers have had about the same amount of time on the wii and the PS3, so they should be at similar levels of development. Its pret
I have played it on the xbox and wii. It`s more fun on the wii because of the controller, but the graphics on the xbox own
I assume that it was intentional, but it really didn`t work out well.
Oh, and obligatory it`s not really fair to compare the Wii for its graphics comment.
