OMG it is Jenna! That`s neat. But since I saw it before, I muted. Wow! I can do stuff online just like I watch TV. Trippy. It`s because TV`s been around longer. Sorry, here I go rambling again. I am gonna go now.

Except that on TV, we can`t control what ads we watch. TV dictates what ads we watch. We only have the power to mute them. That`s why we watch ads online. We have control over what we watch so that we can see the truly entertaining ones.
See it once online, get annoyed, let it go.
See it once on TV, get annoyed, plays again, mute it, sit through it without sound, let it go.
Gee it`s so much easier online. That`s why it`s worse in the sense that you can get addicted more easily online than on TV. Sorry, I like to ramble. I think I will go see Jenna calling her baby again.

You do realize these were separate commercials spliced together? That means if you saw it on TV you wouldn`t think it was repetitive.

I am embarrased for my age group after reading some of these absolutely stupid posts. T_T As for the video, it`s pretty cool to see most of that stuff now be an everyday part of life while back then, everyone would be all "O.o Shiiiiny..." if they saw our current "lifestyles".

I think it`s kinda weird how the past thought about the future. Like...If you told someone a few decades ago about CDs or mp3 players, they`d be like "NO WAY!" It`s just cool to me to watch `futuristic` commercials from back in the day....To see how `advanced` our technology has become...

Does anyone read the comments before them? Or does everyone insist on repeating "OMG AT&T DID NOTHING" or "OMG SOOOOO REPETITIVE!" when 12+ people said the same thing, and multiple others have corrected them?

Anyway, pretty cool. Too bad 2001: A Space Odyssey didn`t come true too. :(

the only thing that is not currently plausible is finding your medical history from a card. However, that is VERY possible, since the employees at hospitals do that already, the technology is just not available to the public.

Okay people, the voice over didn`t just repeat himself, they were a few different commercials that were linked together... Duh. and also, pretty much everything in those commercials are now available... Web cam phone booths (popular in Japan, however it exists elsewhere) GPS with audible directions, tablet, AND wireless PCs, graphical user interfaces, touch screens, online classes, QVC and other TV-based stores, online shopping, THE INTERNET, tolls you can pay by driving through them, (in Illinois, they are called I-Passes, and are on your windshield above your rear view mirrors, and send radio signals that link to your online account) There are machines that allow you to purchase concert, and plane, and other sorts of tickets, and you can also purchase them online. There are also locks that can be opened by voice activation, people can do meetings, and other things from home, either through streaming video, or Instant Message. As for movies, its called Pay-Per-View! (continued)

ZEROCYDE, what are "nancy-boys"? And why do you think only "16 year old girls" use cellphones? Ever heard of a father wanting to talk to his children when he`s at work using a cellphone? Or maybe a woman calling her boss to see when the next meeting is? I don`t see "16 year old girls" or "nancy-boys" (what ever those are) doing that.

See what that same company is trying to do now and get involved: www.savetheinternet.com
Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the Internet`s First Amendment -- a principle called Network Neutrality that prevents companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast from deciding which Web sites work best for you -- based on what site pays them the most. If the public doesn`t speak up now, our elected officials will cave to a multi-million dollar lobbying campaign.
Speak up against the looming merger between AT&T and Bell South. Now... or your internet will never be the same.

love how many of the 13-17 year olds keep saying things like "repetitive" and "Too bad AT&T didnt invent those things."
The clip was a series of commercials that came out at the time, I know, I had a conscience and my balls had dropped by 1993. AT&T was in the middle of having to "disband" due to deregulation of the telecommunications industry. Not always would I support government enforcement on such things, but if AT&T hadn`t been broken up, it`s unlikely that we would have the consumer Internet as we know it today. Many of the development companies which spun off from AT&T were the ones that ended up developing and marketing what you see in these ads. So YES, AT&T had A LOT to do with the development of many of the telecommunication products that were mentioned in these commercials.....
....live and learn rather than speak and show ignorance!!!!

Those commercials would have been impressive predictions if that technology hadn`t already been invented in 1993. It was already out there, just not widespread like it is now. None of that stuff was a glimpse into the future and we have all of those things available now.

In car GPS navigation is entirely NOT AT&T. In fact, Erikson has a major lock on that market outside of North America.

AT&T: We can see the future, but we`re too nostalgic for our monopoly days to bring it to market at a competitive price.

-I`m in Washington State. Our phonebooths are called Cell Spots. They have webcam and you can use cash or credit card or pay pal account to buy time. You can make a call or use the cam and search the web. It`s 5.99 to activate then 2.99 a minute from there. I hardly ever see anyone on them. I think mainly because all of downtown is wireless and it`s free for two hours a day.
Poor AT&T. They would have brouoght all of this to us if they were not forced into disbanding by our pesky government. -

I remember back in like 1992 I watched some technology company promotional video like that. They had flatscreen TVs and video movie posters (came true) and a PC computer in the kitchen. And you could shop with your comptuer. I thought it was friggin amazing. The most I could do with my Apple 2 was play that game where you demolished 64bit buildings, and that was amazing.
