On TV, I saw an octopus go through a tube the size of a 10p coin. It looked very squished.

Yep, misscutieroo, I think it is a hand, and I just realized that`s duct tape on the side of the box..So unless theres some kind of giant duct tape(would be good for taping people to the wall..hmm)it`s a small octupus. But either way, it was cool seeing it squeeze its way through that little hole!

OH GOD. That reminds me of this one time...
UM ANYWAYS...
No, seriously, I`m scared of octopi. And squid.
And not because they`re gross or slimey or anything most people would say they hate about them.
Theres just something shifty about them. Like it`s gonna reach out and grab my face and suffocate me or something.
That wouldn`t be fun.

I remember reading that the structure of the word Octopus is apparently the wrong kind to pluralise to Octopi.

However, I may be wrong, so don`t quote me.

*Slowly rolls away from computer in horror*
After arachnids, I would have to go with octopus`/octopi/whatever as the creepiest species.

Oh, and congratulations mrgein, you can be the jerk for this thread.

lunani: A beak happens to be the best tool to crack open hard foodstuffs, be it seeds, nuts or bones for birds, clams, starfish or turtles for eight-arms here. Nature uses what does the job.

Octopods would be the plural form of octopod... so it is also correct.

Actually, octopod is just another name for octopus, the correct plural forms is either octopuses or octopi. (dictionary.com)

However you spell it, they rock.
