Brian Leonard (FB - Rutgers) did that in a game vs. Illinois for an 83 yard TD back in 2005. Here`s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXJRmKMHT...

CptObvious, your school could get in trouble for that. I`m in grade 8 and we have to wear cups. Maybe it`s a New York state law?

He`s only class of 08`?

Pretty good for an 11th grader.

I hope the Jets get him :D

to whoever said it, football players DONT wear cups. I play high school football (lol im not as good as him, im only in grade 8) and we dont wear cups. So yeah at this age i guess balls might be more sensitive so adults shouldnt wear them either. and it would be realllly awkward to run with some huge ass thing rubbing against your thighs all the time.
and it cant be ruby because in rugby people dont wear equipement.

you must realize the defender wasd starting to go down for a takle like he shoud then whith the compleat suprise of the ball carryer jumping over hin he didint have much anything he could do. so ya know if this kinda thing happend alot you could block it but the sheer suprise made it impossible.

Football sucks, basketball rocks

but even so, that was pretty cool, if played football and rumble fumble (basically u get the football, run around trying not to get tackled, and u run till u get tackled) and nothing was like that :-O i was fallen on a few times, same with others, but ive never seen that...ever

by the way: there was a horrible ref watching this. hurdling (jumping over a player while he has one or both feet planted on the ground) is a personal foul in high school and college football. it SHOULD have been a 15 yard penalty.

i`m american, i believe this was cool, but i also believe there are a LOT of people who can do MUCH cooler things. also, football is kinda pointless... just go do something better... if ur PLAYING football, go ahead, if you WATCH football, no matter what you think, it is pretty stupid

If it really was the guy`s 7th touchdown, the defensivemen was probably intimidated from the get-go, and I wouldn`t be suprised if it wasn`t the first time he made him look foolish. That`s probably why he was so confident jumping over him.

-for those saying he could`ve not stood like an idiot, he was getting ready to stick the guy (if you play football, that is the stance you get into)-

I`ll admit it was fast and it does look like the guy gets ready to tackle, but you don`t wait for the ball to come to you, especially when it`s on your 20.

Yeah. WOW. A guy jumps over someone in football. Big Whoop. Now 10 years in the future when he is living in a trailer park, beating his wife, he will have something to shout at her. "I was once a football star bitch, I jumped over a dude on the field!"

Just as amazing as that jump is the fact that it was his 7th touchdown of the game!

holly hell...everbody who commented on here must sit in there room and never 1. watch football (american) and 2. done anything athletic. because that deffensive player gets ready to takle him, not knock him out of the air, i hate everybody on this site

for those saying he could`ve not stood like an idiot, he was getting ready to stick the guy (if you play football, that is the stance you get into), but when the guy just jumps over him, hes standing there in disbelief. also, the speed at which it happens, i don`t think he had time to react.

oh, yes, 7 touchdowns, and 300+ yards rushing.

Yes Sarah, they do wear cups. But I promise you that getting a helmet in the groin, even with a cup, would 1) hurt like hell and 2) stop any human male in his tracks. If the pathetic guy on defense would`ve just stood up that would not have been a touchdown. It would`ve taken the guy out for a play or two to boot.

Rugby is short for Rugby Football. The Cambridge Dictionary defines:
------
rugby
noun [U] (FORMAL rugby football)
a sport where two teams try to score points by carrying an oval ball across a particular line or kicking it over and between an H-shaped set of posts.
----

So rugby football uses an oval ball, even though the ball is not round (becuse it`s oval).

American Football (football for short) also uses an ovoid ball. Maybe you couldn`t see it in the clip. In this sport, the ball (like rugby football) is both kicked and carried to score and move the ball downfield.

However, it is a different game.

American football is a lot like rugby.
European football is called soccer in the US.
End of story.

I guess all that track-and-field training really paid off.

It would have been a personal foul if he just blatantly kicked the guy, but I`m guessing it was ruled as part of the jumping motion.

I bet we`ll be hearing from him again in a couple of years. If you can run the football like that and get 7 touchdowns in a night, we can safely say it`s not a fluke.
