the man was a hero, walked 8 miles to find help for his family before dieing. the police were having trobles hiking the trails, the man went through hell for his family, he did more than reveiwed mp3s. look at cnet and everything on there, he did alot, and he is a hero, rip.

It was terribly sad. I`m worried now that as a resident of Oregon everyone`s going to think that 99.99% of the state is the unforgiving wilderness (as stated by CNN). :\ It isn`t.

But also, apparently people had been lost on that road before. You`d think rescue crews would check that road when people went missing. D:

kpforizzle: your making me sound like i was insulting him. he died almost a week ago. there is still stuff on the news about it today. many celebrities don`t get that much airtime after they pass away. i don`t mean to question his importance or respect at all. so stop acting all he-man with me and either agree or disagree.

RIP James Kim. I think I saw his video before on CNet and recently read a news story about the search for him. I`m very sorry that he did not make it out alive. For those who say are asking why this got posted, I do not understand why this would matter, just ignore the post then. My heart goes out to his family.

This is so sad. He was from around the same area as I was. This was on the news for daysss.
I`m glad to hear his family is doing well though. I wish them only the best.
RIP James Kim.

He may have been a tech-savvy but he shure had more balls than any man, woman or thing in this site. May he rest in peace and always be remembred for the love of his family and giving character.I shure will miss his reviews.

lol. I was going to tell Hoogs it was unnecessary to say who he was after someone already did, then I saw wales` comment. I guess it`s just too difficult for some people to read a little bit and find answers for themselves.

Anyway. I was reading another article that said he walked 16 miles, not 10 like they originally thought. And they were only 6 miles from a fishing cabin that had food but it was in another direction.

He went honorably, though. Never knew him but what he did deserves some serious resect.

:( I heard this on the news and was really sad to hear it. If it wasn`t for many of his reviews on Cnet, I`d be broke and miserable.
He died honorably though. RIP Mr. Kim.

To everyone who doesn`t know who he was, he was a senior editor at cnet.com. He reviewed mp3 players.

Damn, sad to see it happen, but why didn`t a gadget-tech freak have a gps available is beyond me. :( Note to self: Invest in tech-savvy outdoorsman guide! Little known note of interest, cell phones invariably lose their battery power in the cold. Most guides I`ve known ask you to pack it in a layer close to your body.

Also tragic is that if he had stayed with his family, he would have been rescued with them. But as a husband and father would you feel right just sitting and waiting? Also, the odds of finding help while going through national forest is pretty nil. I wonder if he knew that`s where they were. There would have been know easy decision there. Either way it sucks. R.I.P. James.

That`s just sad. I always liked reading/watching his reviews of MP3 players and whatnot. He gave off that friendly, good-hearted vibe, even though I had never met him.

Debating the importance of this post is juvenile. If you didn`t know who he was, then ignore it and move on. For the rest of us who know of Mr. Kim, let me be the one to say "rest in peace, James" on behalf of those of us who have a heart and/or care.

no you guys dont understand. if you were into new technology or needed info about it you would know how much james influenced that side of the world. its because you guys dont know him that makes you think that he isnt worthy enough to be posted here on IAB. I respected this guy and when i heard of his death i was actually pretty sad. HOBYandy next time you should first know your poo before you say anything to things with this much imporantance.

no...i don`t think you quite understand what i`m asking. what i mean is that there are many tragic deaths out there every day, and not to say that this wasn`t sad or that he doesn`t deserve to be respected...but for some reason i`ve seen a LOT on this guy...they are still reporting about him on the news and stuff. and i find it strange that there is a tribute up on IAB.com. so why is he getting so much media attention?

he seemed like a pretty cool guy, but --forgive me if i`m being harsh-- i`m confused to why this got posted. yeah, he died and it was sad and all, but we don`t usually get video tributes to people unless they are famous. oh, well.
